SUMMARY
Greg Beecham is a wildlife artist with a 46-year career. He emphasizes the importance of constantly learning and growing as an artist. His journey has been a continuous exploration of his vision and technical skills. He believes in striving for unity, simplicity, and beauty in his work. Beecham is fascinated with creating the illusion of mass, weight, and volume on a two-dimensional surface. He considers his talent, opportunity, and passion to paint as gifts from God and believes in pursuing excellence in art. In this conversation, Greg Beecham discusses his process of creating unified and rhythmic compositions in his artwork. He shares how he uses Photoshop to combine multiple reference photos and create a design that is simple and beautiful. Greg also talks about his painting process, including using a grid system and working with thick paint and palette knives. He emphasizes the importance of focusing on shapes and creating a united abstract composition. Greg also discusses the challenges and intensity of painting, as well as the importance of color theory and exploring different color harmonies. He concludes by sharing his thoughts on mentoring and the qualities he looks for in artists he mentors.

Stephen Qullier's ideas on color are fantastic, can't recommend him enough.
Makes so much sense with the capacity we have to work with so many colors that use to be nonexistent.
This interview with Greg Beecham provides valuable insights into the process of painting, dispelling some of the mystery that surrounds it. Mark has done an excellent job in producing this podcast, filled with a wealth of knowledge and advice for painters. Thank you Mark.
Thank you Raymond!! 🙌🏼
Love this!!! I love Greg's work and hearing his story. Great job, Mark!!!
Thank you Carol!
Thank you so much for these video series with some of the greatest artists of our time. I have adored Greg Beecham, his art and his philosophy of life for a long time
So glad I got to interview him. An artist’s artist.
Great podcast and great information! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Will do!
Excellent! Thanks for doing this. Now I'll be binge watching your videos.
So glad you found our content!!
I have fond memories of those early days of visiting the Di Tommaso Gallery in Jackson and seeing your work (and comparing it to your Dad's). So many masterful works since then. Enjoyed listening to you both today. Anytime I hear the term "white on white", Greg's paintings immediately come to mind.
Thanks for sharing!
It was great to listen to this while prepping panels tonight. I've always respected Greg's work, along with yours Mark! I'll now have a little different perspective every time I pick up a brush. Thanks for sharing! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the feedback Matt! Tune in for episode two, coming Tuesday!!
Great podcast! I consider Greg THE wildlife artist. I'll have to watch it more than once.
Thank you Dan!
I watched the whole thing. Very helpful. Thank you
Thank you Josh!!
Great podcast. It's always nice to discover that your heroes are humble and still hungry to learn and innovate. Who's the artist he mentions at 30:18? I didn't catch that name.
The artist’s name is Quang Ho
I listen to a lot of art podcasts. This may be the best one so far.
Thank you for the kind feedback!
Hey isn't there any possibility that AI has/will be ruining the artist society.
Good question! I think AI is definitely changing the artistic landscape for sure. When it comes to fine art, physical paint with real textures and the human element, I think there will always be an appreciation and market for it. --The impact of AI is yet to be seen though... I don't know how anyone can really predict how it will ultimately change or affect the art world.
Easy if you have the time to wander and study animals with no income….
I would be lying if I didn’t agree at least in part with you on this. I don’t think Greg’s approach to his career is practical in many ways, especially from a financial perspective… in the end, if this is going to be a profession, by definition, the work needs to sell.
A bit corny..
Thanks for the feedback
