Hi Kari. A year after receiving my wife’s remains, we had a little gathering at the house on the anniversary of our first date. I scattered about 20% of her remains under a tree we planted years ago, and around the property. The next summer, friends and family gathered in Bar Harbor Maine, where we rented a house for a week, visited all her favorite spots, then scattered about 60% of her remains by biplane, by hand near a pod of whales, and I purchased something that you did not discuss: a special paper box with a water soluble bag inside. I placed her remains inside the bag, inserted the bag into the box, then we floated the box out towards the Atlantic. After a while, the paper box begins to disintegrate, the bag gets wet, and disintegrates, and the remains drop out. I found the box online. Comes in various colors, shapes and sizes. I kept about 20% of her remains for when I pass, but over the last 6 years, I have decided that it’s not what she wanted, so we are going back to Maine in July, and scattering the rest of her out over the Atlantic by an old biplane again. Keep up the good work Kari!

Hi Kari that was very interesting to find out what could be done with cremated remains. I have seen stones like a crystal placed in mausoleum's in America when I'm watching other videos and often wondered if that's what it was. Hope you are well Kari. Love from Nancy in Scotland x

Ironically my family and I were just talking about this last week and I will definitely be sending this to my family for such great ideas!! I have found Artful Ashes, and they make such beautiful blown glass with your loved ones ashes. I’m excited to get such s beautiful piece of art that I can have forever. Thank you Kari again!!

I still want to be given a green burial, but being a part of the Detroit international fireworks show sounds pretty cool!😊👍 "Going out with a boom" over the Detroit river! 🇺🇸🇨🇦🎆💖 How many people can say, their funeral ended with a huge crowd of Ooo's & Ah's!
My momma passed away in 2010 and she wanted to be creamated and her remains put in the ocean. And I did what she wanted when I took her to the ocean and put her in the most beautiful shell washed up. It was a beautiful thing
My daughter made me a ring, pendant and earrings from resin and my 3 cats cremated remains. They are gorgeous. My ring is blue, the color of my Persian cats eyes. I love the tattoo idea.
OMG, what is happening to our civilized society? I guess us old school guys just liked things the way they were back in the day. At seventy-three years of age, I just don't understand the world we now live in. At my cousins funeral home, 75 to 80% of all funerals are still traditional burials. If someone is cremated, those ashes are either scattered or placed into one of many nice urns or wooden boxes we carry. I keep saying we as I have a monetary interest in the business. By the way, I watch "Ask A Mortician" and she is just full of wonderful and interesting facts. She is also a real hoot.
Barbaric an insult until the day I die I will never understand how anyone can have a person burnt like a bit of rubbish I've lost my daughter and son yr half apart I've laid them together. To even think about burning them cuts me to the bone
I have a Christmas ornament with some of Chuck's cremated remains. A sailing budy of Chuck's took some and scattered him over their favorite sailing area. And, the remaining remains I put in lovely vace.
@@KaritheMortician Thank you for your reply - I was talking about having done a tattoo with ink infused with ashes, but I already made some research and going to have one done - thank you for the information :)
How about being mixed in with the compost for making new soil for the garden, as was Pete Seeger. A friend of mine loved travelling by car, and his ashes were thrown on the sand pile at the local concrete mixing facility.
Cremation Ashes Harm the Environment On their own, cremation ashes are harmful when placed in or around plants. For years people have placed cremation ashes around plants as an act of returning their loved one to nature. When cremation ashes are buried directly into the ground, they do not decompose which hurts the surrounding plant life. For cremation ashes to become beneficial to plant life, the very high pH level has to be lowered and the toxic levels of sodium must be diluted. If these two concerns are not properly addressed, the plant will become stressed or collapse. A very limited variety of plants are tolerant of the toxic level of sodium found in cremation ashes.
Feb 2021 Houston here. Great suggestions. Thank you. My friends parents lovedddd Walmart. She mixed some of both their ashes and walked around Walmart dropping them inconspicuously here and there.

Hi Kari, I am planning for the future. Would you know any companies in the US, maybe in California that offers cremation and then put in living pod urn and be planted with a tree?
I have it in my heart to use my cremated remains in planting a shade tree at home, and having a memorial bench there so family can come sit by me & one day provide shade for them from the hot sun all the while 😊🌰🌱🌳🍃🍂🍁.
Hello I'm Nicole and I'm from Germany. I came across your channel 2 weeks ago, I find the topic funeral very interesting. A few years ago, my brother died and was cremated. Here in Germany you can not take the remains home with you. There is only cemetery, maritime burial or burial under a tree. I think that is not okay. Best regards
My husband expired on November 30th, 2021. I wasn't depressed until that day. Anyway, I'd be interested in the vinyl record...what's the info for the vinyl record? 2021 was the year for "trying new things" for The Martinez's. I bought my first vinyl record last year, long before I ever got my first record player. Then one day, I finally got my first record player. And then another Victrola. I'm a huge fan of Billie Holiday. My husband supported my positive habit of vinyl. Nearly every song she sang, I felt like she was singing/telling a story. Now that he's gone smh the words are haunting. "Easy to remember" title of the song. Lyrics, easy to remember But so hard to forget. "Gloomy Sunday"...that one tugs at my heart more often than not! Just like any of the songs on her very last album before her death, Lady In Satin. That's the album I'd like to share some of his ashes to make into a vinyl. He was my soul mate. I've never cried for anyone the way I've cried for him. The anxiety is still in my chest 31 days later. I have appt for the 17th of this month to make sure it's just anxiety vs my heart literally 💔. I know no one asked for all of this information, you only asked what did we do with the ashes. I only bought an urn. It's was unexpected. He was 48 and I'm only 45. If anyone could kindly comment with the link on where to get the vinyl made or how much. I'd appreciate it a lot. Guess we're never too young to die.
@@KaritheMortician gratitude for replying. Yea, I ended up doing a search and it was like $3K USD. I only wanted to use a small amount of his ashes not all. If I use all, I won't have anything to hug Gratitude again for replying.
My mom's urn is a biodegradable box I found on Etsy. It looks like a gift box and I actually tied a Christmas ribbon around it last winter and have since decided to keep the ribbon on it. Eventually, I hope to do a road trip and maybe some hiking to bury or spread her ashes. I really like the idea of the cane that disperses ashes.
Hi Kari. I'm so happy I found your channel .. I watch it often... what I did with my dads remains was his new wife separated him into a million little trinket boxes and sealed with crazy glue ( I did not want this ) and I took my part of him fishing with me on Father's Day and I dropped him into the ocean. Because fishing was our thing.. do u think this was a good idea ??
@@KaritheMortician he was pretty far out. Im ok if he does. I'm sure trinket box she put him in from dollar tree already opened. Is it odd that I'm upset the she split.him up in about 20 diff trinket boxes ?? Truthfully I dont even know if he was in there I have 2 more trinket boxes of him cause my 2 girls got him also. I probably got his pinkie toe at this.point if anything. Thoughts on this ? Her splitting him up like that. And how do I knkw if it's really remains ??
I used a company called ‘ashes to glass’ they put my husbands remains into glass and made into a ring. When I was searching what I could do the first thing that was suggested by google was to have his remains made into a vibrator, at the time I was horrified but now 4 years on it makes me laugh and I know it would of made my husband laugh xx
My wife and I have our companion urn and memorial bench ready for when we pass away. We even have our memorial service how we want it to go. We told our daughters if they want some of our ashes to get them. When both of us are in the urn we will be placed in our bench.
My 2 sisters and I split the cremation remains of our mother. I created a pretty little memory garden in our backyard decorated with stone art of birds as she was a bird lover. I planted her ashes with special plants that mom loved. Theres a main stone that says her name with the date of birth and passing. She loved her garden and the birds come and visit there.
I would like to see a collab video done where the people who work in the funeral business share what their plans are for when they pass. I cannot come to a decision on what I want and I think people who work in the business would have a better idea of what is ideal. I am thinking I want to be creamated and then save my ashes in an urn for when my husband passes and we can be mixed...or if he goes first the other way around. Then buried or spread somewhere. Being drained of fluids and filled with chemicals and then buried just creeps me out so much. I know I will be dead and not really know but still....Ugh!
There is also the living urn and Sierra club having your loved one made into a plantable Tree you cant plant in forest or your back yard and you pick what kind of tree . This is a beautiful living memorial you can nurture and visit . There forests now being planted and cared for all over the world . This is what I want .
When my boyfriend passed away unexpectedly 5 years ago from an undiagnosed heart condition his wish was to be cremated and his ashes put into a Miller Lite bottle and passed around at a party to celebrate his life so that's exactly what we did. Well, we left his ashes at home. Figured it wouldn't be a good idea to let a bunch of drunk people pass his remains around haha. His mom and I also had special necklaces made to carry some of his ashes with us every day.

I'm planning to be cremated, and my best friend lives out in the country. We have a pet cemetery there, which currently holds 5 cats, mostly mine. I'm going to have him bury me there, in the cat cemetery, so that I'll forever be with my beloved cats.
I wear my two male cats around my neck in a urn heart shaped jewelry. The rest of my old men as I called them are still in the urn they came in. My cat Sapphire is in a bracelet I wear on my right arm. The rest of her cremains are in a quart jar painted Sapphire blue cause she came back in the same urn as her brothers.

I'm hand-loading my Dad's ashes into brass shotgun shells. He was an avid hunter. The brass shells, after firing, will make good keepsakes for my brothers and uncles.
@@KaritheMortician I'm planning on making a video showing people how they can do it. Our funeral director was a family friend. I can't help but think that some day I'll get a call from her saying that one of her families wants to do the same and comes asking me how to do it.
For myself I originally wanted someone to make a replica of an American Music Award and somehow place my remains inside. But seeing that I have no children I changed my mind and I don’t think my nieces and nephews want to keep that anywhere . So I decided to find a really awesome looking sphere urn that can be engraved and withstand being in water. I want a diver to place me in the ocean off the gulf coast of Florida , Okinawa or the Maldives near a reef somewhere so I can be with the fishes .
We still havent done anything with my son's ashes from April 2022. They are in his own wardrobe along with the ashes of his two beloved dogs who passed since. We want to place 50% ashes near where he loved fishing up the coast and 40% in a box in the wall with other family members. The other 10% we can all share between us.
Human Remains belong in sacred ground A cemetery or a churchyard not on a mantle and i hate when people divide remains between siblings would you cut of the limbs and give them to each other no you wouldn't.
I agree 100% Separating the remains seems so odd, would someone cut up body parts after a viewing/funeral? So strange to divide up a body even if it’s cremated remains. Much more respectful to keep them together.
If you lose your legs to diabetes what do they do with them. They are not buried they are cremated and who knows what the hospital does with them. It is considered hazardous waste. I keep my child ashes with me because GOD has her spirit and will give her a new body that will not be corrupted by disease and death.
Train enthusiasts of "particularly steam locomotives", have been known to request their ashes be tossed into the burning firebox of a steam locomotive while it is running down the tracks which eventually gets puffed out of the engines smoke stack with the coal smoke and steam and is thrust into the air at high pressure along the line and dispersed along the countryside.

My daughter jokingly said we should put her sisters ashes in a hourglass and use it during game night. It was initially a joke but, I'm thinking it's a good idea so she can still be part of game night with us.

My family and I for the most part want to be cremated. Last year when my granddaughter died she was cremated and my daughter has the box of cremains. Many of gd friends wanted a pinch of ashes so I designed something of polymer clay and resin. My daughter gave 25 of these to gd friends. I have now made 5 that I carry with me every day.
Very nice thank you for sharing
Did you ever make the tattoo video? I looked on your channel but couldnfind anything. Thank you for the work you do.
No the one company won't share how they do it...wait do you mean the cremated remains in the tattoo or the saving of the tattoo from the body?
@@KaritheMortician Thank you for your reply - I was talking about having done a tattoo with ink infused with ashes, but I already made some research and going to have one done - thank you for the information :)
Put my moms remains in a garden 🌹 and my roses bloomed therefore shes happy she was my rose

That is an absolutely beautiful idea I’m thinking about putting her my moms remains and planting them into the ground
Awesome video💓💓💓
Thanks 🤗
How about being mixed in with the compost for making new soil for the garden, as was Pete Seeger. A friend of mine loved travelling by car, and his ashes were thrown on the sand pile at the local concrete mixing facility.
Cremation Ashes Harm the Environment
On their own, cremation ashes are harmful when placed in or around plants.
Oh goodness not good to do
Disgusting! No wonder there are demons crawling all over the place!
Please study the Bible and listen to real theologians like Dr. John Ankerberg and learn that ALL dead bodies are unclean, the High Priest wasn't even allowed to enter a cemetery! You should also know that there is a huuuge difference between human ashes and the animal ashes. The ashes of the red heifer has been used to cleanse the Temple. Human remans/ashes are disgusting and must be buried and not kept at home or anywhere above ground!
And by the way, GOD doesn't really like cremation, read the Book of Amos:
Judgment on Moab, Judah, and Israel
Amos 2: 1 This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Moab, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because he burned to lime the bones of Edom’s king. 2So I will send fire against Moab to consume the citadels of Kerioth. Moab will die in tumult, amid war cries and the sound of the ram’s horn.…
Human remains are unclean and unclean/occult/accursed things attract demons and give them a foothold. Do your own research on these things, look up the occult objects list!
I love this video! Great job!
Hi Kari, I am planning for the future. Would you know any companies in the US, maybe in California that offers cremation and then put in living pod urn and be planted with a tree?
You can buy a tree pod from several companies and get buried. Any funeral home can get one for you. About $100-$150
I have it in my heart to use my cremated remains in planting a shade tree at home, and having a memorial bench there so family can come sit by me & one day provide shade for them from the hot sun all the while 😊🌰🌱🌳🍃🍂🍁.
As always great ideas. You are a very intelligent lady.
Wow, that was interesting! Who knew!

Gratitude again for replying.
That is awesome!
That is really nice. He may wash a shore one day though.
@@KaritheMortician he was pretty far out. Im ok if he does. I'm sure trinket box she put him in from dollar tree already opened.

You’re welcome xx
My wife and I have our companion urn and memorial bench ready for when we pass away. We even have our memorial service how we want it to go. We told our daughters if they want some of our ashes to get them. When both of us are in the urn we will be placed in our bench.
How lovely!
Thank you for sharing!!
I love the hem stone idea!!
What’s ideal is up to you. Personally i don’t want to be on fire 🔥

Very nice to have a plan
I don't wanna be burned. ☹️
It shouldn't hurt at all.
Good for you. It is not a pretty sight when a body is being cremated. Go either traditional or with a green burial if available in your area.
Human Remains belong in sacred ground A cemetery or a churchyard not on a mantle and i hate when people divide remains between siblings would you cut of the limbs and give them to each other no you wouldn't.
Spot On in so many ways. Hope people read your wonderful reply.............................JRW
I agree 100% Separating the remains seems so odd, would someone cut up body parts after a viewing/funeral? So strange to divide up a body even if it’s cremated remains. Much more respectful to keep them together.
A big Amen to your reply.
If you lose your legs to diabetes what do they do with them. They are not buried they are cremated and who knows what the hospital does with them. It is considered hazardous waste.

You can get an urn like that but it is tricky because the cremated remains have so many chunks
