- Mari is one of the most important characters in OMORI, the majority of the story revolving around her. Not only that, but she also plays a huge role in driving the story forward, both directly and indirectly, all while also being an amazing character.

a theory is that sweetheart is an exageration of mari's perfectionist side, because if everything doesnt go perfect she gets super mad, also in the boss fight, she becomes happy while making the others angry, which could represent that mari thought that playing a duet with sunny was making him happy too, but it was only making her happy and making sunny angry.
Also sweetheart has an obsession with hero
that's actually really smart
Omg I never thought of that
YOO I thought each boss has some sort of significance or general representation of something in Sunny’s life. Hadn’t really given this much thought because of how sweet Mari’s portrayed to be.
I wonder if this leads to Sunny feeling guilty about hating his sister’s perfectionism because of how much he loves her and regrets what he did. Maybe a sequel Omori game (maybe set after the good ending) would dive into more depth surrounding Sunny’s thoughts of his sister now that he’s better coping.
i really wish we got to see more of her in omori
Me too, I love her so much :(
Must be how they all feel. They lost her when she was only 15--you can't help but wonder what kind of person she'd end up as
Can't wait for omori 2 where mari comes back from the dead somehow!!!!!!!!!Lol if there's ever one...
I dont think there would be a sequel of OMORI to be honest. It would be cool, but there's truly not anything to discover yet, more than their reactions and relationships after revealing MARI's death
I strongly doubt there will ever be a sequel because that would require confirming which ending is canon and how Sunnys friends reacted to the truth. Maybe a dlc or at most a prequel
There wont be a sequel OMOCAT said
@@somenameidk5278 True, but its very unlikely that OMOCAT would make another game
An au's always possible :))
S tier character both dream and realworld
This is a perfect explanation. It is a little annoying how in headspace you could be walking so far to get to a place and then Mari can just teleport there😅
As much as I like Mari as a character, there is one inconsistent moment that kind of bothers me. I'm sure as all of you know, if you talk to her as Hero, she'll start flirting with him. Yet there's one moment where Hero flirts with her and she gets mad and tells him off for doing so. Seems pretty hypocritical if you ask me. Of course, this is in the dream world so its could just be Sunny's imagination getting in the way but its always annoyed me.
I don't think that's inconsistent, idk how to say this without it being kinda weird but, it just shows how Mari likes to tease Hero because she's the more controlling partner. Mari is the one who teases and pushes Hero because he gets flustered and embarrassed, this dynamic doesn't work the opposite way because then Mari would be the one with less power. Hero was trying to get the same reaction he has with Mari, but again Mari doesn't like that because she likes teasing him, not the other way around. This sort of dynamic reflects in her relationship with Sunny, Mari was a giant perfectionist and very controlling. She probably overlooked the hints that Sunny wasn't enjoying the violin because even though she knew Sunny only wanted to spend more time with her, she still needed everything to be as perfect as she wanted. It shows her controlling attitude towards everything, she needs to have control or else it won't be perfect and that reflects in her relationships with people. This doesn't mean she's a bad person, she does genuinely care about everyone, it just makes her flawed and how she unintentionally hurts people. Hope this makes sense 😅
@@bbbees4479 You got a point lol.

Bruh I think she could have had a concussion. They could have just called the hospital. If Basel knew how to frame her death as a self delete. He should have known a hospital could help.
The violin ultimately killed her since she fell on the broken pieces i think
@@kat_lyn9859 Waw didn't know that happened.

omori is literally the saddest game ever made
Nintendo switch version?
Tbh I haven't played the switch version is there anything there I missed?
@@JJC_Games I haven't played the switch version too, lol
the main story is the same the switch version just has a littl bit of extra content but nothing important really
Switch version has some new content that doesn't affect the main storyline, and it's exclusive to the hikikomori route I believe, idk I'm not sure I've only ever played the switch version
@JJC_Games the Nintendo switch version has a boss fight with headspace mari that transforms into hell mari and even changes a frame of one of basil's moves
Spoiler Warning:
Also, one of the theories was that Mari was abusive to Sunny, and Sunny pushed her down the stairs to escape her grip, then Basil saw what happened, and both of them staged it as a suicide to protect Sunny and hide the evilness of Mari...
hmm i dont think this theory makes much sense, since in most of the game Mari is shown to care a lot for her little brother, sometimes she might have been a bit harsh with sunny, but she definitely was not evil nor abusive towards Sunny.
@@Nanagargantini Yeah I know, and that was a theory only a few had, because this theory doesn't make sense at all.
I think I saw someone make an AU like that, but as an older sibling myself I can tell just how much Mari genuinely cared for Sunny in the game and it just simply doesn’t add up with everything else we know of.
@@Nanagargantini You do know that was only in Omori's headspace? Many abused victims always saw their abuser not as one and they only realized they were abused and that abuser was the reason for all the anguish they felt.
someone made an au of that and it absolutely destroys me every time i remember it
why is mary's eyes open when she died?
mari*’s eyes we’re probably open because dead people don’t necessarily die with closed eyes and because the muscles don’t work anymore since no parts of the body functions for too long after someone’s death
@@iyeah667that or it was a hallucination from Sunny/Basil, fearing Mari was judging them Foe what they did.
@@iyeah667no wonder people close dead person eye with their hand
I think just from the clues you can tell Mari was abusive towards Omori. Omori was living the Stockholm Syndrome not knowing his sister was abusive towards him. Of course Mari wasn't intending to be abusive towards Omori but it just came out like that due to her perfectionist attitude. You can tell she only showed her good side in front of their friends, everything she did had to keep her appearing perfect and flawless in front of others. The fact that she didn't join Omori and his friends on their adventures in his Headspace showed this quite well. Omori not knowing he was abused looked up to her and wanted to be like her reason why he wanted to play violin and play a duet with her. But Mari didn't go along with this idea. I'm not sure who threw the violin but that can really change what may have truly transpired. Omori imagined her as a good person but we never saw what she was like in the real world. She could have been a terrible person towards Omori for all we know, Omori thought of her as a good person but he was blinded by the Stockholm Syndrome. Omori was dependent on his older sister but also abused in that way.
Not sure of Omocat really know anything about psychology but the setup rings true to real life. It makes sense why Kel and Hero are more mentally healthy than other characters. Hero was a good older brother. Of course Kel could turn out very different if Hero was in fact a terrible older brother. Kel and Hero can show how the parents were like, they took extra care of raising Hero probably piling expectations on him, very likely teaching Hero lots of responsibilities, Kel's brith may have spurred his growth as well to take care of his little brother. Kel on the other hand was when the parents wanted to leave hands off on focusing on raising their children and left it to Hero to raise Kel in a way which left him sort of a mess but a happy mess unlike the others. Aubrey may have been a nicer girl when she was younger but if you see the state of her home and the fact that she lives with a single mother this could eventually wear her down when she doesn't have her friends which happened when they all became apart. So you can say Aubrey is heavily influenced by which friends she hangs out with. This can be seen even in Omori's Headspace, she gains different emotions from looking at her friends in combat. Aubrey was happier when she was playing with her first friends.
Unsurprising most of these kids were living with single parents/guardians. Basil lived with his grandmother, Aubrey with her single mom, and what appeared to be Omori and Mari living with a single mom as well. Kel and Hero again showed better mental development due to having both father and mother present. This rings quite true on the mental development. Basil, Aubrey, Omori and Mari have bad mental development and are more easily damaged.
It's stated in-game that the reason why Mari never joins Omori in battle is because Omori can't bear to watch her be put in danger. The picnic blankets are safe spaces for her created by Omori specifically to keep her away from harm. The console-exclusive Boss Rush fight with her very concisely shows that she's actually not afraid to fight, but Omori/Sunny suffer traumatic flashbacks once she does.
theres a lot of evidence to say that she ain’t abusive in the final duet scene alone bro. Besides, if she was abusive, I’m pretty sure someone from the friend group would notice especially basil. And if not, look at how she acts based on character descriptions. She cares for sunny so much that when he was drowning, she jumped into the water and saved him before anyone even noticed what had happened.
mari and sunny had a happy family what are you talking about???? you just spouting nonsense first of all omori and sunny are different character second of all mari father left the family after mari's death and in the headspace he said "you are not my son" to omori he left the family after mari death not before
It was sunny who threw the violin learn the lore before speaking crap :\
