Ever notice how these guys selling dust collection fittings never show them connected to ANY tool or hoses?

Thank you... you are the only one smart enough to explain the adapter...been shopping this thing on amazon, and it's not obvious.

I am finding this whole hose connector issue EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. How in gods name can Dewalt not make an adaptor that fits between their dust extractor (1/7/8") and say their table saw (2 1/4") without my having to look at upteen zillion adaptors and a dozen useless videos. I want ALL LARGE TOOLS TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME SIZE DUST PORTS REGARDLESS OF BRAND. And all the small power tools to have ONE OTHER UNIVERSAL DUST PORT SIZE REGARDLESS OF BRAND. Stalinism? I DON'T CARE! Hunting for adaptors for a zillion different sized ports is A STUPID WASTE OF MY TIME!!!@!

Video demonstration is confusing or wrong. The universal click on end attaches to the Dewalt sander. The other end needs to connect to a vacuum hose.

TO SAVE EVERYONE TIME. You must buy a new hose to connect the universal adapter to. Then you must get the correct size fitting for your tool

I’m pretty irritated that DeWalt expects me to spend an additional $20 just so I can connect a standard shop vac hose. No manufacturer should be designing a tool that won’t accept a standard shop vac hose out of the box. I’ll be very apprehensive about buying another DeWalt sander.

If it's a 'universal' adapter, what are the other 17 adaptors on your desk? I don't think you know what 'universal' or 'standard' mean.

Not a complete explanation in this video. The vacuum hose connection to the adapter itself has proven to be significantly difficult to achieve. DEWALT has not done a good job regarding the compatibility of the DWV9000 with its commonly sold shop vac, i.e. typical 9 gal wet/dry vac. The hose supplied does not attach to the DWV9000. Pretty frustrating.

Exactly! Wtf! How the hell they have not made these connections is baffling

Well the standard shop vacs are made by a separate company and dewalts extractors are actually dewalt sooooo

I have that same dwv 9000 and I have a 7f hose with a 1 7/8 end and I can't seem to find ANYTHING to fit my hose and the dwv9000.

Just purchased 9 gal. shop vac. The hose adaptor fits the hose end but doesn’t fit any other of the attachments such as the extension Wanda. Anyone have any suggestions?

      Hi Tom,
Based on what we found, here are the possible fixes:
Identify the Required Diameter: Measure the diameter of your hose end and the attachments. The universal adapter has multiple diameters, and you'll need to cut it to fit both ends properly.
Cut the Adapter: Using a sharp utility knife or a small hacksaw, carefully cut the adapter at the appropriate diameter. Make sure the cut is straight to ensure a good seal.
Test the Fit: After cutting, test the fit on both the hose end and the attachment. It should fit snugly without being too loose or requiring excessive force.
Adjust if Necessary: If the fit is too tight, you can lightly sand the edges of the cut to make it easier to insert. If it's too loose, you might need to use duct tape to secure it temporarily until you find a more permanent solution.
Hope this provides some clarity- Thanks Tooled-Up!

Yeah, I'm having the same problem as everyone else - the adapter connects to my sander great but I can't figure out how to get the other end connected to my vacuum hose. It was described as fitting 1 1/4" hose but it's more like 1 7/8 or something. The inside is threaded - can anyone tell me what hose or adapter screws into those threads?

Hi! @Silasdonham8320 have you tried any of these steps?
If you're having trouble connecting your vacuum hose to the DeWalt Universal Vacuum Adapter, here are a few things you can try:
1-Check the diameter of your vacuum hose. If it's slightly larger than 1-1/4", you may need to use a hose adapter or reducer.
2-Make sure the inside of the adapter is clean and free of debris.
3-Apply a small amount of lubricant to the threads of the adapter.
4-Screw the adapter onto the end of your vacuum hose until it is snug.
5-Test the connection by turning on your vacuum cleaner and checking for any air leaks.
If you're still having trouble, you may need to use a pipe wrench to tighten the connection.
      I hope this helps! - Tooled-Up

@@tooledup Thanks for the advice. In the meantime I figured out that what I need to do is unscrew the fitting from the end of my hose (the part that actually measures 1 1/4”) and screw the naked hose into the Dewalt adapter (which is more like 1 7/8”). That was not obvious to me. And unfortunately also means I need to buy another hose, because now I’ll need to have one dedicated to the sander, and another one I can use for general purpose vacuuming. I don’t understand why these can’t be made so the fittings themselves connect to each other. At least I’ve got a dust solution now.

Your video is of excellent quality, but the content leaves much to be desired. Show how it all works with different vacuums and different size hoses and connect to table saws, sanders and other equipment. I gave you a thumbs down.
