Unfortunately I’m not quite sure, but I don’t think that this same setup would work. My recommendation would be to still connect the rubber coupling to the sander and see if you can find one that would fit directly with the 1 1/4” hose connection on the other end (where the rubber coupling would go on the outside of the hose connection). Sorry I can’t provide a definitive answer!
I have the DWE6423 and I really like it! The only thing I may consider in the future is a cordless model, but performance-wise I have never had any issues with this one. I definitely also recommend getting a variable-speed model and not a single speed (such as the DWE6421). It’s slightly more expensive, but the ability to change the speed is really nice.
Hmm that’s very strange. I’m not quite sure what could cause that to happen, but I would definitely stop using it until you figure it out. With dust collection systems in general, I’ve read concerns about static electricity buildup, but I wouldn’t expect that to appear in the sander. I suppose something else to test is if it still sparks when you are not using a dust collector. My inclination is that this may be an issue with the sander itself and not the dust collection setup, as I don’t think this setup has much electrical risk, but I could be wrong.
For my vacuum, the Fernco alone won’t connect to the shop vac hose directly based on the size. But even if I were to get one that would fit with the correct size, I wanted to avoid having the Fernco directly attached so it would be easier to connect/disconnect and wouldn’t require loosening the clamp every time.
Not included with the product. They do sell an accessory, but it’s pretty expensive and seems to be incompatible with many DeWalt products (and I couldn’t find an exact product list of compatible sanders). This was a cheaper and easier solution for me.
You've added several ounces, and a hose that's almost as big as the sander is. Truly not worth the extra work. The biggest issue, an seems NO one has addressed this, is the LACK of uniformity among power tool manufactures and the dust collection industry, mainly due to them having their pride shoved up their asses. Even the DeWalt adapter that they sell that is "supposed" to work with this sander, AND a 1 1/4" shopvac, doesn't work! The dust bag it comes with is 1-3/4 inches, and NO SHOP VAC has a hose that is that size. You could by a $800 Festool shopvac, but really? EIGHT hundred? That's like buying Grand Ma a Maserati, just to go to the grocery store and back once a week.
Yeah it’s definitely a little bulky, but unfortunately this has been the best budget setup that I could find easily. I totally agree that the lack of uniformity is unbelievable. When I was trying to figure out how to make this work (and also looking into some other dust collection setup stuff) I couldn’t believe how many different sizes and configurations there are.
Very helpful! Thanks for saving me from buying a ridiculously expensive adapter kit!
Awesome!
Past participle: “may have come with my shop vac.” Thank you! Informative video. Thanks!
Glad you found it helpful!
That was very helpful! Thanks for posting.
Thank you!
That elbow has one male end (the smaller end called a spigot) and one female end (the larger end called a socket).
Thanks for the info, this helps a lot !
You’re welcome, thanks for watching!
Awesome! I have this exact Dewalt sander, so I’ll try this. Very helpful! BTW, I love the Ephesians quote! God bless you, brother in Christ. 🙏🏼✝️🕊️
Awesome! Thank you so much, God bless you too!!
Do you turn it on all the time?
Yes, I usually keep the vacuum running the entire time while using the sander.
If my shop vac has a 1 1/4” hose, do I do the same thing? If not, what would I change? Thank you.

2:22 what Dewalt orbital sander do you recommend?

Hey. I did pretty much the same thing and I’m experiencing sparks in the sander. Any suggestions? Thanks

great idea
Thank you!
The term for the elbow ends are male and female. Great idea well done
Thank you!
I think what is confusing is he used both ends as "males".
Thank you. God bless!
Thank you, God bless you as well!
Thank you!

Thanks!
Why not just use the Fernco?

What the heck? Don’t dewalt supply an adaptor?
Not included with the product. They do sell an accessory, but it’s pretty expensive and seems to be incompatible with many DeWalt products (and I couldn’t find an exact product list of compatible sanders). This was a cheaper and easier solution for me.
I bough the adapter and while it fits it’s not snug and pops off the hose all of the time. I still end up duct taping it
bought a dewalt stick-vac, didnt fit to ANY of my dewalt tools. bummer!
Good video. I had to sub to get your sub number off 3 6’s
Thank you!! I really appreciate it. God bless.
thanks for the info. and for glorifying God !!!
Thank you and God bless!
