I applied to 6 UCs as a transfer and got into 4-Santa Cruz, Riverside, Irvine, and San Diego. I got rejected by 2. Guess who.... lollll. UCB was a flatout rejection and I got waitlisted at UCLA. I'm between UCI and UCSC currently and am watching an annoying number of videos on the subject. This one is pretty great, very comprehensive and definitely helps paint a picture. I've lived in the bay the last 5 years / Oakland the last 1.5; I saw UCI last weekend and am checking out UCSC tomorrow. I am definitely very confused and sort of 60/40 toward UCSC. Anyway great video tyty, I'll let you know what I end up SIRing to next week
AYYY SAME, although I’m at College 9. I feel like I messed up my class schedule bc I just chose courses that seemed fun like intro to ECE intro to python and some engineering stuff, I’m outta state and have to clue how any of this works
@@mr.awesome5619 that's so amazing!!!! Don't feel bad about your schedule. I feel like Freshman year is when you can explore more about your major and the things you find interesting. I also took two core classes, and I also took basic python class. Let's hope we can get through the first quarter!!!!!!
Congrats on the gig and graduating in 3 years man! Pretty excited to be on the campus for the first time this fall and apply to internships this summer. Also tryna graduate in 3 years so this video was a great resource. Even online this place has a very far-left vibe but it's whatever; I'm here to learn not to change people's minds or deal with that noise. I'm so happy I had to deal with the COLA noise too. Los pericos is the shit ;). It's so wild to already be a year in already; watching your videos and being all concerned out about lower-div classes felt like a month ago
Class of '21 MCD Biology Alum here. I preach exactly what you say about going to TA's office hours. They are usually the ones who are going to be grading your exams (at least in most MCD Biology classes). Going to their OH, asking questions and being engaged with the material goes a long way. Also a great way to network with your TA's when trying to secure undergraduate research positions. Thanks for making this video and bringing some of the more less-talked about topics to light! And big congratulations on graduating in three years :)
My daughter is attending this Fall but she will be a sophomore we just went to visit the campus for the first time few weeks ago no one was there and everything was closed except the bookstore.
Dude how do you remember this much about the start of ucsc, im in my third year and i doubt i could recall this much bout the process of the first year
Hey what programming language did you learn in ucsc? I mean i’m in high school and I’m learning python rn but I’ve heard that a lot of cs majors teach java
I found your videos about a month ago and I’ve been watching since they are very interesting I love them and what would you recommend for me to take the coming year in college. And I’m also subscribed. 😅🙋🥳Congrats
saw the photos at 0:10 and had to do a double take lol did you go to cal high? if so that’s crazy!! i just graduated this year from there and am going to ucsc for computer engineering. small world for sure edit: kept watching and i applied to the same uc’s and yielded the same result. that is such a coincidence haha
Hi , Love from India. I too am planning to go to UC Santa Cruz for my masters. If possible can you share about housing arrangement? or any group which you might have which would help .Thanks
Congrats!!!! As an incoming sophomore cs student that has never lived on campus this video is a great resource!

Omdddd I love this videoooooo. You have been a major help to me being an incoming freshman. Congrats on graduating!!!
This is helpful for me as an incoming freshman because orientation is online. I'm going to Porter for Robotics Engineering.

we start off with Python for the first two classes, and then move onto C and C++ I think

Would you recommend ucsc for cs? How would you compare it to sjsu (if you know anything about that)?

Can you get a computer science job with a computer engineering degree? I’m pretty sure I won’t be accepted at ucsc for cs but maybe for ce
Hello, my son is an incoming freshman and staying in porter college. Is a mini fridge and a microwave necessary to have in the dorm?
I was at Cowell, which is the best college (not that I'm biased at all)
I don't drink alcohol either. I was a Legal Studies nerd. #classof2015
How did you find internships for the summer since most companies require you to be a junior?
congrats on graduating early ali
WAITTT you went to cal?? Lmao I graduated in 2020 and am headed to ucsc in the fall that’s so funny
Go Banana Slugs!
