      Do you know if SSDs with heat-sinks fit inside this model. I'd like to buy some Samsung 990 Pros with heat-sinks(I have the 18 inch model).

    • @mrgclips
      @mrgclips  3 месяца назад +1

      I would assume that if the heatsink model is not thicker than 1.5mm, then it should fit in no problems. BUT, if it's a 4mm type heatsink they use for desktops, I don't think that would fit in. Overall THIS model is NOT that super-thin, so if nothing else, you could put on heatsink pads with a top copper plate I think.

    Hello All, i was in the position of not knowing whether Crucial ct2k32g56c46s5 64GB was going to work on my Predator Helios Neo 16 PHN16-72. Well i have installed the ram into my laptop and can confirm its running at 5600MHZ and so far have had no problems. The difference between PHN16-71 and my model is the fact they bought out a BIOS update that allows 32GB ram recently. I have run benchmark tests for the ram and confirm it got 174% Outstanding result (compared to average 146%). But be aware that this worked for me (iv only run it for a couple of hours/problems may occur in the future) please be careful when installing. Especially with that poor construction of an ethernet lid that i broke when installing it.
    Appreciate the video @mrgclips and good luck to future installers!

    And by the way for storage i am looking at Samsung 990 pro with heatsink that has a height of 8.88 mm so i have a question that is the laptop having enough space to fit that thick ssd in it or i would have to go with the one thats without heatsink, i asked because i heard that those ssds heat a lot coz they are the fastest ( note I am asking this question before opening my pc just to be sure )

    hello, nice video. But let me ask you... you bought a 5200Mhz ram or the laptop reduced the frequency? Mine is 16gb 5600Mhz OEM, and i`m thinking on upgrading to 32gb or 64gb but keeping the 5600mhz on them. Thanks.

      I've bought the 5600Mhz RAM, but the system only recognizes it as 5200Mhz, even though I have the latest BIOS. When I've had the original factory 32GB RAMs, they showed 5600Mhz. Oh, and by the way, my 2 x 16GB RAM modules are now up for sale! LOL! :D

      @@mrgclips Oh I see , btw i was also looking to buy helios too with rtx 4070
      But the main concern was that the fans were too loud, can you tell me how the laptop performs in quiet mode ? What happens if i game in quiet mode? Because i wanted this laptop not for gaming but for all of my work.
      Also can you briefly tell me any issues and your personal opinions for this thing?
      Thanks in Advance!!

    • @mrgclips
      @mrgclips  2 месяца назад

      Well, depends on the game, but if it's a CPU/GPU intensive game, then the CPU will get VERY HOT, pretty much 100 Celsius, so you don't wanna do that! The simple fact is that "performance" requires "cooling" and in a gaming laptop like this, it is achieved by 2 hard working cooling fans! I myself have upgraded to have a cooling pad underneath my laptop, BECAUSE of the constant overheating issue, which I will demonstrate in a Tech Review about the cooler, why did I pick THAT particular configuration vs others, how it works, pros and cons, etc. But yeah, gaming requires cooling!

      Well, give it a try with 64GB, but don't be surprised if the clock speed will only read 4800Mhz instead of 5600. The higher RAM would require additional sockets, if I'm correct, because a single RAM socket may not be able to handle or read ultra large capacity chips. Best if you ask technicians about it.

      HUGE difference! Now, when I run my web browser with all those tabs, running 2 different video editors, my 3D animation software and start doing some creative work, especially during 4K video editing, Task Manager shows that I'm WAY over the previously available 32GB RAM use, but without any "warning messages" about "please close some of your programs to free up memory" and such. LOL! :) I just added thermal coolers for my SSDs and RAMs, and in the process of making a video, because for laptops, all available cooling is a good idea for heavy users. So YES, definitely worth the upgrade! :)

      @@mrgclips That's the thing, we will need to that sooner or later, specially you, with your configuration running hotter than mine. I actually upgraded my previous Nitro 5 to use liquid metal, and I found out that even Conductonaut starts to falter and harden if exposed to temperatures over 80c for long periods of time, and my nitro 5 run hot, so I had to replace liquid metal like once a year, the last few times I had to use a fine sand paper to remove the hardened liquid metal from the copper... Fortunatelly my Helios 16 runs at 75c average.

    • @mrgclips

      I'm considering a higher quality and design laptop cooler in order to bring down the CPU temp, which is the only one kind o' bothers me, since it can jump up to even 100 C for short periods of time under heavy load, while under normal operation the system is around 63 C. But honestly, the CPU overheating is nothing new to me after having at least a dozen laptops over the years, some of them were custom made to my own specs.
