  • Since we're dealing with Mom & Dad's farm truck, the end results don't have to be perfect. Plus it's a huge upgrade compared to the current condition of their dash pad. I wanted low-risk opportunity to learn something, and I definitely accomplished that repairing a dash pad for an OBS Ford F-150. And special thanks to ‪@HFG‬ for making this solution possible.

The band aid stickers finish the repair off perfectly. If you want a better cover you can throw a dash mat cover over the top!

My thinking as well. Mom and dad might not even use the truck 5 years from now

You were using a Dremel tool, you could have cut any pattern in the Bondo you wanted and then color match paint to finish. But I enjoyed the video.

This was a low stakes experiment (for mom and dad's farm truck) but it helped me (along with your comment) learn what does and doesn't work for the next go around when I did some dash repair on my G-body. Kind of fun to try something without worrying about final results Definitely paid off as experience tho for the next time.

I would have just left it alone .

yea, it was an experiment. Had nothing to lose. If it wasn't a farm truck, and now after my experience I'd probably do something different too

I'm happy with it. Just wish I could have included a side by side by of their dash pad compared to this one. It will be a huge improvement

you can just hit the whole dash with 80 grit then clean and spray with canned bedliner then use a paint that matches the interior color. If you wanted an uniform texture across. alot of guys use the foam, some use epoxy instead of bondo. I think the bondos just fine.

I had heard of the bedliner trick for texture... just didn't want to buy two cans of paint for this. But I bet it works great

The foam probably made a more stable base for the bondo. I think you can use a piece of the textured vinyl to make an imprint on the bondo(if you have a piece)

    • @Str8sixfan
      @Str8sixfan  2 года назад

That's what I'll make sure of for the next go around

@@Str8sixfan Was thinking about it. Would be pretty hard to imprint texture because of needing to sand the bondo. I do recall a product that used a patch that you would press over the damaged area with heat. Sixtyfiveford did an amazing dash repair with bondo on his channel. ruclips.net/video/2INF3RJEn08/видео.html&ab_channel=sixtyfiveford

At the same time tho...it's good conversation, and good to know when the stakes are higher on the next one. Good to have options

Full Disclosure: The foam was my idea. Sorry it didn't work out. I thought the foam would match the base foam better :( Sorry, bud. I'm glad you like the stickers 👍🏼👍🏼

Foam worked alright...and I swore I was already thinking of doing the foam anyway. But stickers turned out great

Excellent. The cavities are filled and dash band aids look much better than duct tape.

I wonder if there are kits out there that include a texture mold. When I worked with Kemlite/FRP panels, they had repair kits that included a clear plastic sheet with texture to match. You would just peel it off after the patch hardened.

oh yeah, that would have been a perfect way to handle that
