    a very nice restoration project,im sure it was more to challenge you and your abilities to bring it back to life,which you certainly did with flying colour's,well worth my thumbs up

    You showed some great technique with clamping the blade to a bracket for belt sanding,and then using the long board for the sharpening, both of these methods are such safer,but much gentler wear and tear on your hands years down the road...🤘🤘👌

      s10m0t10n I wouldn't say "junk" , the knife was still very useable , it was probably very dull , but with sharpening it would still be a very useful knife

    Love what you're doing man. If you ever get the chance, please try to get your hands on an Okapi. It's a cheap spring steel folder. Kind of a legend in SA. Many problems have been solved and many holes have been made with them. The blades are quite thin. Would love to see what you think about them and what you would do to improve them

    Great work and video. My Victorinox Classic SD 's knife blade is flopping because the tension
    bar which keeps the blade both open and closed has broken. I may not be able to create a new
    tension bar, but I certainly now know how to take it apart and put it back together. Where did
    you get those little metal pins that join the knife and the scales?? Please let me know Tks.

    He should have removed all of the oxidation would your Dremel tool and progressively tighter wire wheels and in my opinion should have polish that bleed with progressively higher Grit sandpaper till it was mirror finished why bother half-assed restoring a knife and just having to do it again in 4 or five years when that oxidation makes the scales fall off and the rough finish blade starts to pit and rust

    Why does nobody use wire wheels on bench grinders to remove rust?

    • @kothaelser3282
      @kothaelser3282 6 лет назад

      The bristles on wire wheels could fly straight into your face if they broke off (which they eventually would). If you use them with a power drill, you can at least keep the action an arms length away from you and the powers involved are not as great as on a bench grinder. Also, imagine gripping into a wire wheel spinning toward you vs. gripping into a sanding belt. Nah mate, for rust removal, I'd take a polishing mop on a bench grinder over a wire wheel any day.

      If he really restored it and not broken and then changed the design without making it better would have been Ok. Or if he changed the design to make it more usable or artistic.
      Instead what was done was what was most easy and completely unnecessary.
