    There's a lot to say and people have their opinions about both sides of the story. Tina moved on with her life and music and became the star she wanted to be. Ike never quite got there because he was stuck in the past but he did win a Grammy on his own which he was very proud of. So with that said, hats off to both of them for doing what they loved.

    The rape scene in the movie is disgusting. I knew there was an agenda when the movie had fabricated scenes like that, yet left out the fact that Tina had a baby with the saxophonist when she was 18.

      The thing is Tina signed away all rights and creative control to the directors so she couldn’t control what they put in it and she never denied that Craig’s father was Raymond she’s been very open and honest about it publicly

    • @samrindge8042
      @samrindge8042 3 года назад +11

      @@saintjay8058 I'm aware. Ike also signed away his rights which is why he couldn't sue for defamation. However, Tina could be more vocal about her disapproval of their depiction in the movie. Tina said she forgave Ike and wished him well up until she retired. Only recently did she admit that she hated him until he died. That leads me to believe that she secretly relished in the backlash Ike recieved, and that doesn't align with her Buddhist beliefs. Her shtick is selling happiness. She doesn't speak on how her children and grandchildren are affected every time she talks about their relationship. Maybe she doesn't even care since she's estranged from her family.

      What does her having a child by another man have to do with anything? How is it ok for Ike to have 2 other children before he met Tina but Tina can’t have 1 child before she met Ike the standards that y’all hold for women is ridiculous

    • @samrindge8042
      @samrindge8042 3 года назад +12

      @@hannonaelamar7014 Tina having a child from a previous relationship is not the issue. It's the inaccurate portrayal that Ike fathered all her children. It's a biopic based on Tina's life, but they added Ike's children with Lorraine Taylor and left out her child with Raymond Hill. The writers added a multitude of fabricated scenes, but they didn't mention her relationship with Raymond. Clearly they wanted to sanitize her image to make her seem innocent and naive.

      @@samrindge8042 Exactly. Most people who've only watched the film without reading their autobiographies aren't aware that Tina had a baby before Ike. Her son Craig was the oldest out of the four boys they raised together. In reality, Ike and Tina were friends for a few years before they had their son Ronnie. Tina became pregnant at the same time that Ike's live-in girlfriend Lorraine was pregnant with Michael in 1960. Ike didn't sneak Tina out the hospital to elope after she gave birth. They married two years later in Tijuana, but it wasn't even legal because Ike was married to another woman named Alice.

    Keith Richards told a story about when Ike and Tina were on tour with the Rolling Stones. He heard noise from their room and when he looked out into the hallway. Tina emerged looking immaculate and Ike was the one who looked roughed up. Ike wasn't a big guy. Tina got into her share of fights and won. Keith said Tina wasn't someone to mess with and another person who was on tour with them said he saw Tina fooling around with Mick Jagger.

      There are interviews where Tina said she and Ike were friends after the divorce. She switched her story when she rebuilt her career in the 1980s. Ike was the one who recommended that Mike Stewart, the head of their record label, manage Tina during their divorce. Mike provided Tina with the finances to put a band together and get back to performing. Tina never reported any incident of assault during her relationship with Ike or threats after their divorce. If Tina truly felt her life was in danger she could've shot him like she shot Randy Jackson when he broke into her home. Ike said he had purchased Tina a gun when their home was burglarized.

    I wonder if he ever saw the interview with Tina's son Craig, Rhonda Graham (Road Manager for Ike and Tina for pretty much the whole time) and Miss Robbie? They have all witnessed his behavior towards Tina. In his opinion, he thinks that it may not have been that bad but he wasn't on the other side of receiving it so he can't say it wasn't that bad. Now the movie bought the rights to the book so they didn't need his permission on how we was portrayed but abuse is abuse....IJS. Now his new wife may say that he is not that way. He could have turned his life around at that point. I just think at that time, there was nothing you could tell Ike Turner. He had the money, the fame and then you add the drugs in, he was in another world.

      @Jay aka kkain123 Exactly. To be honest, although he may have changed a bit, I don't believe his new woman never witnessed a bit of his bad side. "IF" she didn't, she was blessed, because Ike has even admitted(on some interviews) that he did sometimes snap and had a bit of a bad temper. He just seemed to downplay it, as abusive people often do. May God rest his soul, though.

      Miss Robbie said she didn't witness any violence, but she knew they had fights in private. Most Ikettes and musicians who played with them have actually said pretty much the same thing and they have nothing to gain by defending Ike. Rhonda was on Tina's payroll until her death and Craig was Tina's favorite son, his biological father was Raymond Hill.

They all say they didn't witness abuse and they have nothing to gain by defending Ike. They still speak highly of Tina as well. Some other people witnessed violence from both of them. Keith Richards spoke about Tina roughing Ike up and he was still friendly with Tina after she left Ike. People who worked Ike have called him crazy (he was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder) and controlling, but they also emphasize his good deeds. He was a generous and provided many jobs which is why various singers and musicians returned to work for him. Even Ann Thomas who Tina claims Ike also treated horribly chose to marry him after being around them for a decade. She rekindled her friendship with Ike during his last years.

      Read Tina’s book “I, Tina” and you’ll know once and for all who is telling the truth. The maid Ann Cain said that she saw Ike stick a lit cigarette up Tina’s nose once and that no human being should be treated the way Ike treated his wife. Even the Ikette Miss Robbie admitted that Ike paid her money to ambush Tina and keep tabs on her after their divorce. People who defend Ike’s behavior should be ashamed of themselves.

      @@solomonpayne7179 ok…..and what about the witnesses who say they saw Tina hit Ike? Check out Judge Joe Brown and his account on the behavior he saw in Ike and the behavior he saw in Tina. Tina was no angel and she also did her fair share of abuse. Maybe you should also look into what their kids are saying as towards the end of their lives it was Ike Turner who was in their lives and their grandchildren’s lives and Tina who had nothing to do with them. Are you saying because you read Tina Turners book you are now an expert in what happened and can refute people like Judge Joe Brown who was a witness to their behavior and also Tina and Ike’s kids who said it was Ike who was around at the end and not Tina? You should be ashamed of yourself if being so naive to read one book and think you know the whole story. A story has three versions: Ike’s, Tina’s and the truth which lies somewhere in the middle

    Ike and Tina both wrong. Ike did his dirt, and Tina did her fair share of dirt too. I’m sure Tina hit him back too because she look like she don’t take no shit. At the end of the day that movie “What’s love got to do with it” was made out of unforgivness. Tina should have forgiven him before he left this world. It’s so many people that has forgiven people for far more worst than her experience. Such as a woman forgiving a man for murdering her child. If that woman can forgive, so can Tina.

      @@MrDaRiAn21 Tina contradicts herself. It depends on her mood I guess. In one interview she'll say she forgives him, then the next she doesn't. She did say for many years in various interviews that she forgave him and wished him well, but that was a front. She's still bothered. She told the Sundays Times that she forgives him in 2018, then in 2019 she told the New York Times she doesn't think she'll ever forgive him. She used to say fell in love him with but in recent years she has downplayed that. Now in her documentary she reiterates that she did love him, but she admits that she hated him until he died. If Tina doesn't want to discuss Ike, she can refuse to talk about him just like she doesn't talk about her estranged relationship with her sons. Tina knows going into an interview that she will be asked about Ike if it's after she released a new book or some other project which with divulges more information about their relationship. She entertains the questions and is willing to relive the past.
