The question could perhaps be formulated differently. Instead if 'What if Ukraine wins', you could ask 'What if Russia doesn't win'. Obviously, Ukraine isn't going to take Moscow, but Ukraine can more or less win by preventing Russia from winning (and ideally by also taking back its land) .

Those answers to the first question already almost made me puke... it is insane how inhumane they are and how they live in different realities. But still the ruzzians do not surprise me, as they have always been like that.
Nothing happening in ruzzia or coming from ruzzians can be surprising. They enjoy being serfs and only wish to remain so. But no country that has lived under the brutal yoke of their rulers and managed to free itself wants to go back to that. Well, may be the hungarians...
@@JS-ip8xm Yes, this is why we have to be careful when we vote, and not choose those who are pushed by any of their vicious ways in their attempt to put the same rotten people in the power of any other country. If they refuse to weigh both sides on a balance, how do they make decisions? If they don't question themselves what would happen if they lose, what are they fighting for exactly? Ukrainians know well what happens if they lose. They just gotta ask their grandparents. Which is why they keep fighting. Why are russians fighting?
No need to bring grandparents. We saw what happened to Crimea - Russia spent tons of money to renovate that region and make life of locals better. Also life of majority of people won't change at all if Russia captures a few regions. Ukraine just stop glorifying nazis and never will be able to join NATO
И что, по-вашему, мамкин знаток истории, скажут украинцам их дедушки и бабушки?😂 Если уже сегодня, после начала сво, в России живёт более трёх миллионов беженцев с Украины.
The last guy (with the beanie) is actually using his brain. Meanwhile, several districts in Moscow are having blackouts and buildings are freezing because the heating pipes are bursting. There’s also the warehouse fire in St. Petersburg.
Everyday Russia justifies more countries to join NATO. Russia will win when most people prefer to live in an autocracy than a democracy, this will not happen.
The degree of denial is just...jaw-dropping. One might speculate that the video editing tilted toward such views, but having watched so many of these videos in past months: no...this is a prevailing POV among Muscovites, at the least. And they did not arrive at these viewpoints except with the 'persuasion' of the empire via its media control.
I agree, it’s unfair to make judgments off a video like this except all the videos are like this, so I also spend time everyday observing the Russian info space (telegram/twitter etc) and the commentary, it’s the same as these videos except way worse.
The older guy towards the beginning made a truly spine tingling comment. " You can't defeat a nuclear power ". When a nation and its people will use nuclear options as a means to attain their goals is horrifying.
The US were a nuclear power when they lost in Vietnam. The Soviet Union was a nuclear power when they lost in Afghanistan. And what kind of existential threat could NATO be for a country that, by definition, can never lose a war? None of their claims makes any sense.
The "You can't defeat a nuclear power" argument is only true if your intent is to invade and occupy/destroy a nuclear power. It isn't true if the nuclear power attacked you and you're only defending. Of course you could beat off the invasion and in that sense win the war.
Nuclear sabre rattling is not for world leaders. World leaders know it will never happen. When the US got involved in Korea, Stalin was head of the USSR and he threatened the US with nuclear retaliation. Friggin' Stalin! And it didn't happen. All throughout the cold war, the world had a couple of close calls with nuclear war but not because of actual threats, but because of misunderstandings or equipment malfunction. Nuclear sabre rattling is meant to scare regular people, not leaders because leaders know it will never happen. A president in a democracy is more scared of losing their voters than of nuclear war. So if the population of a Western country believes Russia's nuclear threats their leaders will have to appease Russia or come to compromises lest they get voted out by their scared populace
>When a nation and its people will use nuclear options as a means to attain their goals is horrifying. Only time it's happened in history is when USA used it...
I always watch with interest your interviews to try and get a feel for what the Russian people as a whole want in life or understand what’s going on in the wider picture.. I have come to the conclusion that the majority of everyday Russians support putin and his policies and want conflict with Ukraine and the west.. they believe that they are entitled to and are conquering everything, no soldiers are dying and no military equipment is being lost as Russian men and equipment are superior to everyone else’s…it does strike me a bit of Germany in the 1940’s… with the Aryan race. I also find it funny that they think that once the war is over everything will go back to normal. It will of course take decades before life in Russia for the majority will return to normal as what happens to the 400, thousand soldier hopefully returning home suffering from wounds, PTSD and other mental health issues. The freed criminals allowed to roam freely all with pardons, the economy in a mess and a flood of immigrants all promised residency if they fight in the “SMO” moving in with relatives and family taking jobs and squeezing out the native Russians…. Not a bright future,, and that’s if they win!!
The immigrants will be the only good thing for them, that's why they promise them citizenship. Ruzzia's demographics was already terrible, now with so many men killed in the war and all the people who fled the mobilization, they urgently need immigrants. They won't be "squeezing ruzzians out of a job" but be hardly enough to make up the shortage of workers needed in the country. For everything else you're correct.
Your conclusion is somewhat close to reality. What is even mind-boggling to me is how much Russians are willing to give up for their prideful nationalistic conquering wishes. I tried to ask many Putin supporters: “what are you ready to give up from your daily life to help Russia win this if needed?” No one can answer this. They didn’t think of it. However, when companies leave, services gets blocked, prices skyrocket-again, no reaction. This part is what’s so different about Russians and westerners, because western people would never give up their personal comfort for a piece of a foreign land.

Instead if 'What if Ukraine wins', you could ask 'What if Russia doesn't win'.

I like it how some of them openly admit that the goal of the war is for Russia to get new territories. They're not even trying to lie or hide the fact that they are invaders anymore.
These territories were developed jointly by Russians and Ukrainians. The Bolsheviks defined the border of Ukraine 100 years ago. Russian Russians have included regions with a transitional Russian-Ukrainian identity, or even with a purely Russian one, into the composition of Ukraine. It is for these regions that Russia is fighting. But, in general, this is not the only purpose of the war.

What a brilliant piece at the end!
Если бы в Крым полезли, то вероятно его лучше было бы использовать, чем не использовать
>When a nation and its people will use nuclear options as a means to attain their goals is horrifying.

In those last few sentences you could have been describing the good old USA.

I love that most of them aren't saying the answer to the first question, they just say that russia will win and ukraine can't win.
Oh in 1904 they said Japan couldn't win either....
They felt the same way about Afghanistan and the first Checnyan invasion too.

BTW, in the first 10 countries with the highest alcohol consumption per capita, most countries is NATO countries. Russia is not in the first 10. And mentality of Eastern Ukrainians is very close to Russian, religion and language too, situation is not like Afghanistan and Chechnya.
Because you may also ask them what will happen if Putin becomes president of France. It's quite unrealistic. So people are confused about it.
