Much wit in that description. But, agree, quite a task. And that she carried a piece in her purse looking for fabric for curtains. Joanna is determined. The results are sensational.
there was really not a thing i disliked about this video. but what caught my heart was her library consisting of books from her entire life thusfar. i found that really touching. the home looks extremely inviting and cozy. as much as i've had nightmares about wallpaper in the past, for some odd reason the concept of it is appealing again. who wouldn't want to be surrounded by flowers? really lovely home and garden.
@metis lamestiza...I too have all my childhood books..they evoke memories of such innocence, that only comes once in a lifetime...but, I like the way you express yourself. Quite lovely🌾.
All of your books from your life touched my soul. As a child growing up in a small house my Mom would get rid of my books after I read them and I bought many old favorites on Ebay as an adult. When we were retiring to a smaller house recently and were selling off lots of things I told my husband I really should get rid of a lot of books but now I will have more time to read. He said you don't need to get rid of your books honey...and my heart grew two sizes.
This was by far one of my favorite H & G pieces, I love that her space is utilitarian and lived in as opposed to being bound by tradition and rules. I just love this house and she seems like a really cool and interesting person. Super inspiring.
The Laura Ashley aerie suite is breathtaking. You don’t enter the room, you enter an entire enchanted canvas, perfect down to every corner, happy and playful and personal. There is something of the child-to-woman vibe, an expression of utter prettiness and freshness. The patterns are serious art, not childish. The sad serious adult world relentlessly summons, but not here, not just yet. The slanted ceilings are handled brilliantly right down to the gold cord holding the floor=to-ceiling drapes against the wall. I found this video endlessly inspiring. Tremendous industry creating rooms to embrace visitors and guests. Well done.
I know! You put it very nicely! It’s like a children’s tent but at your cool aunts house so it’s also super calming and feminine. I’d sleep as soundly as a baby in a womb haha.
I so enjoyed this video. Everything about this house and garden I loved. The sisal rug in the library and up the stairs, the bookcases, artwork and kitchen with the stainless steel countertops. Quite honestly If I had the opportunity to replicate this look, then I would. The music was great. Eileen, from Stuart , Florida, USA
What an incredible home. It's always interesting to see how people like her live, but oftentimes the homes look overly done or too stuffy and show home-ish. This place is super inviting and cozy. I love how she mentioned that the couch is covered in this extremely expensive fabric that they use to lounge in and let the dogs climb on. I love the utilitarian kitchen countertop, the art. That library is just stunning. I wish I could have kept all the books I've owned with me as I moved around, but I'd be swimming in them by now lol. At first I thought that wall paper was too much in the bedroom, but as she talked about it I came to love it as well. Her philosophy of how she makes her home beautiful but cozy and useful is the best. Beautifully filmed as well.
I absolutely loved this, idiosyncratic without pretentiousness. As a man, I noticed how it was all ‘we’, except for the bedroom and bathroom, which became ‘I’. Lol.
I love and agree with the kitchen cabinetry idea. I, too, will eliminate the upper cabinets in our kitchen, and I already have my daily dishware open and accessible. Absolutely beautiful home and garden. Brava!
An absolutely fabulous place. There were a few things which are very similar to my pictures, colours and placement which made me love it more. Keeping childhood books tells us a lot about her. One of my favourite Design Notes.
I love this house and I'd have to say my favorite thing is the gilded light fixture in the library but even more than that, I just love the fact that she has every book that she's ever owned from childhood. Books just make a house. Love it love it!
Interesting, because that was the ONLY thing I didn't like. Not that it wasn't beautiful but her whole video she talked about function and use and here she has only one light in a room where you read and she said it didn't work well.
I know the folks videoing these homes have to protect the owners privacy, but I really wanted to see more of this home. How the rooms were arranged and how the home was connected to the garden. All very lovely from what I could tell.
Yes! You can marry practicality, comfort, style and beauty. A house is for living and shouldn’t be precious. My MIL used to call it house proud, so worried about how it looked, that people forget to actually live in it. I love this house, just wonderful.
When comfortable meets gorgeous you know you have achieved success. I loved it all but was particularly warmed by the areas with that delightful wallpaper.
Lovely home and easy to live in. That’s my cup of tea. I really don’t like walking around without my shoes on so being able to walk through the house and kick up your feet on the coffee table is perfect. One thing not mention that I feel is another layering and an extension to the house is the garden. Particularly the trees that surround the garden like A blanket. That’s screening envelops privacy and coziness. I can imagine some type of garden lighting and circling this private place. I can’t think of anything more relaxing than that. Great video
"We decided not to have top cabinets.." I heard myself say out loud, Thank you! I find them oppressive, personally and look how serene her kitchen is. Lovely, all over--person and home!
I loved this wonderful house. I wish I had seen a peek of the exterior to understand why it was a house "nobody wanted." Did the exterior architecture, in any way, inform or inspire the inside of the house? Lovely, lovely garden.
My most favorite house ever!!!!!!! I adore, love ❤️, and covet this house !!! I love everything about this particular house!!! I wish I could move in right now, especially when this house also has a very much loved cat as well!!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!! 💓
Thank you for a wonderful tour of your home. Light, inviting and effortlessly presented. All the hallmark’s of creating a space that comes from your heart not a catalogue.
This is so stylish & beautiful. The kitchen is divine. I love the tall dark shelves she uses for her plates. Such a great idea. The dining table is a great size, enough to put lots of plates glasses & food on. The comfy living space with lots of pictures on the wall. Her bedroom with the Bennison fabric is so cozy. The pretty over grown garden is great too. I loved her quote that it’s a robust house you can wear your shoes. X
Really beautiful, I could feel the push-pull tension of both their energies in each room and they've managed to find a very calm, curious, intelligent and warm atmosphere of compromise. The combined determination and vision of both Joanna and Nick has created an almost living energy, a third 'person' and I love that in a home, it's instantly recognisable but impossible to really put into words. So chic, so welcoming. Each room asks questions of guests as well as offers them a bit of theatricality and a warm hug too. Grand success!
She is so lovely and I adore the library, but I couldn't spend five minutes in that floral bedroom without getting a headache, but that's the joy of seeing other people's houses, we all have such different taste and I love it when people have homes that are so completely them.
Oh I love your house and garden!!! So cosy, so original! Much love to you from Paris. I am between boxes and things moving next week to Marseilles. Keep your fingers crossed for me to find the suitable appartment with a terrasse or balcony where I can sit who is waiting for me! Thank you merci danke to you.
Excellent. I especially like that it doesn't look "done" by a decorator,. BTW, I worked for Fortuny back in 1970 here in New York City. Back then, other fabric houses tried to copy Fortuny fabrics with lousy results.
Ebaying an entire room's worth of discontinued wallpaper. Respect.

Laura Ashley is not wallpaper...it's a way of turning a room into a personal boudoir
I particularly liked the bold ref horizontal stripe in the bedroom, perfectly teams with the florals and gives a strong balance to the room.
@metis lamestiza...I too have all my childhood books..they evoke memories of such innocence, that only comes once in a lifetime...but, I like the way you express yourself. Quite lovely🌾.
I loved so many details…just lovely. The bedroom wallpaper was a bit too much for my taste. Thank you for sharing.
@@bettinarossi7908 thank you for your sweet comment!
"I do think that having a little bit of what you love is what life is all about." Truer words!!
These Design Notes videos are filmed so beautifully. The visual storytelling feels so cozy, whimsical and calming - absolutely love them!

"Enveloping". She said it twice because.. such a good word. I want my home to feel that way :D

She seems really nice person, the tour with her was simply lovely to watch.
I had the Laura Ashley bird wallpaper in a similarly shaped bedroom in my home in 1991. It brings back memories of nursing my son
More on the garden!!!! I love this house!
Cozy, comfy, livable, and charming.

I love her home but mostly, love her unassuming and unpretentious personality. A lovely warm woman and home.
I absolutely loved this, idiosyncratic without pretentiousness. As a man, I noticed how it was all ‘we’, except for the bedroom and bathroom, which became ‘I’. Lol.
I think they have separate bedrooms.
I love these House & Garden pieces. Just like Joanna's home, they are are a little slice of heaven.
Splendid. I'm drooling over the green Fortuny brocade cushions. Just my style.
I love and agree with the kitchen cabinetry idea. I, too, will eliminate the upper cabinets in our kitchen, and I already have my daily dishware open and accessible. Absolutely beautiful home and garden. Brava!
Just a great house with impeccable taste.
That gorgeous Laura Ashley fabric! What a dream.
Hello Bratty, how're you doing today..?
Such a beautiful, inviting home, but can we talk about her outfit? So crisp and classic. Simple elegance.
Just beautiful. One of the loveliest most tasteful homes I’ve seen. 🦋
I'm so jealous - the bedroom is breathtaking, the enveloping wallpaper, something out of this world. I have to watch it again

Oh my goodness! This house is stunning, calming, well designed, and I love it! I also love the wallpaper as well. What a beautiful home.
I love her little speech about the venetian cushions at 2:17
Love all of it, so elegant and comfortable !
Yes! You can marry practicality, comfort, style and beauty. A house is for living and shouldn’t be precious. My MIL used to call it house proud, so worried about how it looked, that people forget to actually live in it. I love this house, just wonderful.
My god this is beautiful! And the owner is gorgeous!
My parents had that exact wallpaper in their bedroom when I was a kid. We didn’t love it then but it’s gorgeous here!!!
this is very chic. Joanna Plant has impeccable taste, a rare sense of elegance
Ebaying an entire room's worth of discontinued wallpaper. Respect.. More on the garden!!!! I love this house!.

Not to be too precious about wear and tear..loved the expression being bullet proof..beautiful home with so much to love..thankyou for sharing.
Beautiful home. Looks like Lucy Williams took a whole lot of inspiration from Joanna’s home and style if you’ve seen her new renovation
Agree
Beautiful! So English and special. Love it.
"We decided not to have top cabinets.." I heard myself say out loud, Thank you! I find them oppressive, personally and look how serene her kitchen is. Lovely, all over--person and home!
I hit “like” literally 2 seconds in the video. Beautiful design and lovely video!
Simply enchanting! A classic elegance. ✨✨
What a lovely home. That bedroom is amazing. I would never think to do that. Also love that beautiful fabric piece in her hallway
I loved this wonderful house. I wish I had seen a peek of the exterior to understand why it was a house "nobody wanted." Did the exterior architecture, in any way, inform or inspire the inside of the house? Lovely, lovely garden.
I just love her style, she is my favourite interior designer. All the texture, subtle colour, elegance, contrast is just divine!
Just lovely, owner, house, garden. Perfection.
I love your home, and I bet you’re a most gracious hostess.
Inteligent, humble and honest. Thank you
Love her home. It's so comfortable and welcoming. Nice addition with garden!

Love your house and library esp. with your every book since Enid Blyton!
this is what I aspire to create (in small) with my flat & videos
Beautiful cozy home. Love the book collection, wish i had mine too.
Thank you for a wonderful tour of your home. Light, inviting and effortlessly presented. All the hallmark’s of creating a space that comes from your heart not a catalogue.
Lovely. Enjoyed all plus the garden. Really liked the bedroom paper and how she used the coord fabric.
This video caught my eye because we have the same last name. Now I'm glad I did. What a lovely home.

Hello Dariss , how're you doing today..?
Charming cozy and lived in. I love it 😊
Lovely, inviting, warm home! I absolutely fell in love with both inside and outside as one seems to just flow into the other! Gorgeous!!!
Yep..the garden would have sold me too!
Magical garden and soulful home, great video thank you
Gorgeous as well as "comfy," which I love!
So pretty and so incredible heart warming.. ‘Tis a pure joy to behold!
How lovely it all was, though some of it not to my taste. What a lovely woman and ethos for their home.
I loved this but my god, I have to have her top! It’s gorgeous!

Well explained intentions and processes behind the design. Very helpful!

Love EVERYTHING about this home....hard to believe there was no interest in it but I guess it was just waiting for the perfect new owners!

Lovely house. Thank you for the video!
I love these Design Notes. I wish you would do one with Sophie Dahl. I would love to see inside her house.
Such beautiful home
Enjoyed your tour of your home with great ideas especially the picture placement as I bought a 1960s cottage I have new ideas for my renovations.
Excellent. I especially like that it doesn't look "done" by a decorator,.
