テクノスジャパンより登場した、美しいグラフィックによる多彩なステージが展開する、ロボットアクションゲーム。ゲーム内容は、地上戦がメインだが、戦闘機を操作する空中戦もあるのが大きな特徴。地上戦時の操作方法は、8方向レバーで移動、ショットとジャンプに2つのボタンを使用する。ジャンプボタンをタイミング良く押すことで2段ジャンプが可能。レバーを下方向に2回入れることで伏せることもできる。また、空中戦時は8方向レバーで移動、2種類のショットに2つのボタンを使用する。
ストーリー：
この物語は、我々の住むのとは別の時空間での物語である。その世界、第8宇宙（ロドリー･ゼクトノート）では、巨大な権力を持つ悪の帝国"ドリスタァグ"と、それに対抗する同盟"イシュロイ"とが戦っていた。しかし帝国軍の前に、同盟側は危機に瀕していた。その時、新型宇宙船"ダヴ・スリーナ"と共に現われた1人の戦士がいた。同盟側はその男に最後の希望を託したのである。彼の名は、ザイン(XAIN)――――。

Xain'd Sleena was released in November 1986 in Japan.
Technos produced the original that spawned two other versions : "Solar-Warrior" by Memetron in the US, and "Soldier of Light" by Taito in the UK -- both 1987. Soldier of Light was the name on the UK cabinet, but the game showed Xain'd Sleena on the screen with the Taito logo instead of Technos.

So many years later when i used to play this as a kid and still it brings back great memories and impressive game play for 35 years ago - Well Done
I still vaguely remember the day I managed to get to the sixth planet. I was a highschool kid then. Man, that was a third of a century ago.
Eventually I I managed to beat the game with two coins (there was a "continue" option), and then I told my friends that I had done it with one. :)
Xain'd Sleena, we will never forget to your name with valiant and glory forever. And now, this story is ended.

this video game was ahead of its time. impresive graphics , impresive sound , double jump, power bar , final bosses ,you must defend all planets , mistery.... I love it.
Disagree. The graphics were nothing special in 1986 (SEGA were destroying the competition anyways with Outrun and other games), the sound is flat out earrape, and several of the other concepts were already practiced in even console games before. Not to mention this game is VERY poorly programmed (like EVERY Technos Japan game) with tons of slowdown from even firing the gun.

Incredibly hard game! That mothership at 15.00 was a nightmare, I don't think I ever got past it
I still think that this was the most difficult arcade game in any arcade I ever went to. This is godmode!
Loved playing this 30yrs ago. Was at the ten pin bowling in my home town back then.
I can definitely tell the hardware available at the time just wasn't prepared for the ambitions of the developers. This game looks like it belongs in the early 90s.
Amazing game, especially for the time. It was *definitely* ahead of the curve back then.
I loved this game in the arcades so much. It was way ahead of it's time, there was so much variety to the enemies, and the shmup stages was the icing on the cake.

Beating this game on normal or easy difficulty is an achievement. Beating this game on Very Hard difficulty with lives left and get over a million points is only a feat great gamers do. Using no cheats while at it is priceless!

Xain'd Sleena/Solar Warrior was A Uber difficult game but I kinda liked the '86 game.
I did this when I was 7. I just forgot to move the joystick to the right on the last planet - on being shown... I did it. Very tough.
I did it when I was 3, that was hard it took me 2 hours but I did it.

I watched older kids play this at an arcade. I remembered all the visuals, but I could not pronounce or remember the title. I finally figured it out after 30+ years only to realize that it's one of the worst named games in history that doesn't work in so many languages.
This game is very hard to play peroid and only finished it a couple of times. a great game but very hard and cheap hits

I played the game with 11 years of girl, The machine planet is appareance for complete the other planets the figure of the 25:56 is inspired for the abandoned Space Jockey of the Alien (1979)

I played this back in the day along with magmax, it took me ages to find out what the game was called because i had forgotten it, had to trawl through an entire list of spectrum games to find the name.
最後の惑星で時限爆弾を仕掛けて、脱出目前でラスボスらしきキャラが登場しますが、それは倒して欲しかったです。
The best experience is had by overclocking the emulator CPU to 200% + and that will eliminate the slow downs the actual hardware suffers from and it will give you the experience that the creators of the game actually strived for.
