In this episode, I discuss Responsibility OCD. When a person has Responsibility OCD he or she experiences unwanted thoughts related to being a potential danger to others or responsible for causing harm to others. In this episode, I talk about different forms of responsibility OCD, case studies and examples, and the treatment process. I also discuss common compulsions people engage in and how to apply exposure and response prevention.

Thank you so much for this. I’ve only watched two videos of you and they are the most thorough videos I’ve seen. And you know we like thorough lol. I’ve known I demonstrated OCD behaviors for most of my life as a result of my mom and my grandma and my auntie having OCD. But I’ve just finally realized in the past month the profound impact it’s had on my life: my nervous system, my health, my relationships and my entire experience of life has suffered as a result. As I go through these videos I find myself going through a grieving process of a life that I didn’t know could’ve been better… As well as a feeling of hope for a life that can be better from here. Thank you so much for the work that you do. From the bottom my heart.

Thank you so much-- I feel guilty so often and seek reassurance from family and friends a lot for things that they say should not make me feel guilty. (IE, not being able to get to work because of a blizzard). This was very helpful to me today-- thank you!

Thank you so much for the video. However, what tips do you have for actually getting past the guilt that comes during the exposure phase? The guilt can be overwhelming, as you know, and we do compulsions to clear the guilt. What can we do instead of compulsions to clear the false guilt? Thank you so much.

Hi Matt. Can I ask you a question please? I have a feeling that your response will change my life. If I have pray rituals, flicking light switches off and on, walking the streets in a particular way, counting, repeating words, so that "evil things" wont attack my mother (or me), or if I feel a compulsion to babysit my pet everyday because I dont want him to be alone or get trapped anywhere.....is this Responsibility OCD? I I'm sorry for the long comment but I hope you will answer me. Thanks in advance.
