Had a listen to a few of your podcasts and was very impressed. This one in particular resonated. I'm a late career anaesthetist and moved into ( and out of!) medical management about 2 years ago. James made a great point about leaving a well paid job to do something you really want to do ( with , usually, a significant financial impact). Although the effort and time required to train enables a rewarding ( in every sense of the word) career, many of us feel we could help in other ways. You do get to a point in your career where clinical work becomes a bit mundane and having another outlet ( professionally) is great. I just need to figure out a way of combining leadership/management with retaining a significant clinical profile! I look forward to listening to many more of your series ( and am learning a lot- esp the first part topics!)

Great video! Would you mind commenting on, or making a video expanding on the management pathway you outlined? I think the research and education opportunities are quite self explanatory but I'm not too sure about the other
    Thanks!

So happy I’ve come across your channel! I’m a PGY2 hoping to apply for anaesthetics in the next year
