The majority of the fish are Ocean Perch also called Redfish. The fishery is regulated by the Icelandic Government. It has quotas and seasons and they are limited to only fish in certain areas.

I was a trawler off the Oregon Coast for 20 years, and we never trawled in waters less than 200 fathoms. That’s 1200 feet! Good luck trying to use a line and pole at those depths! Not trying to argue but those trawling nets don't touch the ocean floor, they float and go down maybe 15-20 ft. Clamming boats on the other hand do rake the ocean floor but it's pure sand, not reefs.
