Above Everything, Thank You for Watching :)
If you feel like watching even more I got you covered ;)
Once you sit in the chair of the commandeered vessel you should manually undock and redock **before** setting the new one as your home ship - this prevents the automatic undock when you leave the menu so you won't have to chase your ship as it returns to base.
That's ridiculous.
I did this totally by accident once, and didn't realize thats how I triggered my ship not flying away after registering etc. Was wondering if it was just bugged or what. Good to know this is repeateable!
Another quick tip, while you’re taking over an enemy ship you do need to loot contraband, if you want it, if you don’t manually loot it it will not be sent to your ships cargo
Best tip ever! I used to fly the broken target ship back to civilization, but this makes it easy to grab and register the ship, then re-board your own ship and keep trucking.
@@pandamaster4653I'm not sure that's 100% right. I'm pretty sure everything gets put in your inventory. I've never picked those up and still got a notification that I had it on board when attempting to enter a system that scans for contraband. It's possible I picked up one on accident though but I think this has happened a few times now.
You found my favorite hunting grounds.
I built a base to land on and swap ships. Nothing fancy, just a pad to land on.
If you have the sense star stuff power it reveals all the nearby enemies, very useful in those big multi-deck ships.
I knew you could save money by registering in space and I knew the items would transfer over but I was still wasting time heading to my Outpost to change back to my own ship, never dawned on me to just dock again with my own ship. That's such a time saver. And overloading the cargo bay like that!! genius. I would spend so much time just standing up on my bridge and playing around with inventory... I feel like such a noob again ><
Awesome guide Turtle :)
A legit mod for this is „reduced ship register cost“
In Starfield it‘s like you buy a car for 50k and plate register is an extra 45k.
So the mod is more immersive/realistic
yes that whole REGISTER COST is a joke which leave you with about 5% of the ship's value as profit. Definitely wanting a Ship Scrapper where it just sells off the modules , no reg BS.
Agree, this was one of the first mods that i downloaded. Changed the percentage to 22%, like tax is in my country, and its way better.
Your tip about adding loot to the ship you just captured is a game changer. Now I can store what I find, as well as add more ship parts that I carry in my pocket to my full main ship.
Additionally, are any planets/moons in that system worth building an Outpost with Landing Pad? This way you can land and swap ships.
I swear you have the best guides for Starfield BY FAR
heh - it's the best guides for w/e he is playing. i don't know how or why, it just seems to hit.
You can don't register the ships to keep those unregistered ship in your ship bay, however you do need to "homeship" the boarded ship, that alone will prevent the boarded ship from disappearing.
If you are like me and use turrets probably best to power them down when you intend to capture ships. I'm running 4x 3340As for turrets and 2x 3340s for manual firing. Just something to note.
Yeah, turrets definitely aren't meant for ship capturing! I've forgotten to power mine down a couple times and by time I do it's to late to save the ship I'm trying capture.
You have my great respect for your hard work in bending the system. This saves me a lot of time on calculations and experiments and allows me to focus on the gameplay. Although sometimes I feel jealous that you are ahead of me when it comes to trickery. Cóż taka to już dusza polaka.
This is a fantastic guide!! Thanks so much. Ad a new Starfield player, I've been watching a number of vids on how this process works, and by far yours has been the best!!!
My random method of stealing ships is by doing abandon outpost missions. When I see a ship landing i run toward them, and if they start shooting me i take them out, and go into the ship. Best ship i stole, so far was Ecliptic Claymore!
“Space vats” oh turtle I love your content so much. Glad to see you making starfield vids.
Glad you like them!
This was absolutely the guide I was hoping that you were coming out with soon! Thanks!
Turtle a thought just occured to me. the outpost ship vendor has credits that refresh every 600 UTC hours. And Katydid 3 has the same 1:100 as Venus, so you can plonk down a ship builder, a bed, and sell ships like crazy and never worry about a bounty (or pay off said bounty easily after selling ships)
Very glad you're faming in Sepentis. I recommend it to everyone. Love the video. Also i recomment people upgrade their ships at one single Ship vendor, or home base, this way you build up your ship while funding the vendor - and then he will have money to pay you for the Captured ships you sell. DO NOT register the ship at the vendor, register from the menu, and you will get your commerce discount on the registration fee.
Love this guy! I can barely understand him, but he knows what he is doing!
$2k-$3k per ship. you would make more money just doing minor side quests or selling planet scan data.
I get about 10k a ship probably with the barter perk plus if you include enemy gear ship storage and contraband value jumps greatly
Selling planet data to vlad was how I made my fortune
You don’t have to have the docker in front since you can dock within 500m, but this method is how I’ve commandeered many ships.
I think it just makes it slower for his ship to fly away since it has to turn first.
I’ve found that in most systems with a decent amount of planets/moons, if you land on anything and just wander for a little bit, a ship will land near you that you can raid for xp or steal and sell/add to your fleet. Great way to practice early game
Yup, of the first 6 ships I stole, 4 were just sitting at a landing place (I saw three of them land) and I ran in, shot up the crew, and grabbed them.
Annoyingly there was one base where the enemies fee in a ship when down to the last 2-3, and I saw this and tried to grab the ship but the hatch was labeled "inaccessible".
You can also quicksave as soon as you land and reload to get different ships if you don't like the one that spawns.
I was doing the debt collection missions from gal bank. He sends you to a lot of remote moons, a ship landed nearby almost everytime as soon as I exited my ship
yeah, but not the most profitable one. Especially for lower tier ships: Don't steal the ship. Better kill all the ground grew, and let the captain fly away with the ship. Why? Profit. Most ships have about 5-10 ground crew members, each wears at least one lootable weapon (500+ credits) + spacesuit (300+ credits), so you make about 8000 credits by defeating the ground crew, but if you steal the ship you only kill 2 crew, and due to registering the ship the profit is only about 1000 credit for the ship + 1500 credit for the 2 crew (weapons, suit)
Some books contain coordinates for hidden sites, e.g. on Mars and Earth. So there is more to them.
You know if you use an EM weapon you can take out the engines without dropping the shields first and it won’t damage the hull.
yes I know but damage doesn't affect sell price
@@angryturtlegaming true but you dont risk accidentally blowing up the ship either heh.
LOL. Did you say "the brown ship vendors?" 😂
wait a minute you said you can register ship in space? is it from the new patch? dam i destroy all of them when i board because im too lazy to bring it to port.
when i think about it. this is new and viable early game strat with the help of reduce register ship fee mod. register fee in this game is ridiculous. do you buy a lambo and have to pay 90% the price of that car to use it? i think not
It’s not from patch it was in ship menu at launch
It’s not if you buy a lambo… It’s if you kill a lambo driver take his car to a dealership and ask them to register it and pay you money. Since it doesn’t have a real world equivalent making up a reason for the price of registration shouldn’t be too hard of a stretch. The joint governments don’t want to promote piracy of ships, so the registration of a miraculously unowned ship is made nearly non profitable…
Turtle, would potentially breaking down and selling the ship as parts be more or less profitable than selling ships outright? Am curious if it is a viable alternative method?
Appreciate the tips, great work
I don't believe parting out a ship is more profitable. The one time I tried that, it looked like the parted out price was going to be the same as the sale price. I believe, but can't confirm that's how ship sale prices are determined: the sum of the sale price of every part on the ship.
I built a small outpost (just a landing pad with tech kiosk, a bed, and three gun turrets) on Sepentis 4. Then I could go fishing in the Serpentis system and have a friendly place to land and switch back to my real ship in case it snuck away and I was stuck in a low powered ship. Otherwise I’d have to limp home, making multiple jumps and hoping the piratea don’t ambush me. 😂
It’s also a handy place to drop off contraband or excess cargo temporarily
Great techniques. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Subbed.
Stealing ships isn't very profitable unless you mod it, because well, the resell value is basically 25% at most after expenses from registering.
You make 3-5k easily selling a single 'advanced' high end gun (like say a Magstorm or a Magpulse) to a vendor, but vendor money is very limited.
Once you hit level 40+ and is in NG+2 or NG+3 you'll notice profit comes easily simply by murdering enemies you dock and taking all their guns, and then destroying their ship for the XP (The bigger and higher level the ships the higher the XP you get in addition to the kills you do while docked).
You only get XP for the ship itself btw, if you never docked the enemy ships to steal their goods and murder the crew for XP, you only get the XP and a random drop from the ship, unless it's a trader ship of which you get 'everything' or mostly everything on it.
You also cannot rename 'event' or 'quest' oriented ships you steal, like 'Damaged Ship' or Valentine or any unique names for a event. It might even get buggy and such ships might vanish or things might change on them randomly.
If you want ship slots to build a custom ship, always steal a crimson pirate ship of any levels, and don't try to take event based ships unless it specifically makes it seem like it's given away to you for free.
Be sure to hard save before you do this, I've done this many times and it is hella buggy. Docking with your old ship after registering the new one mid flight can lead to broken ship controls, stuck in a void unable to fast travel etc.
Good to know! luckily never happened to me so far
Have you ever encountered the bug where stuff disappears in New Atlantis when capturing ships this way?
no, what disappeared for you?
I did
@@angryturtlegaming several kiosks including the trader at the landing pad and the two in the bar around the corner, as well as part of the floor terrain on the bottom of the ramp leading away from the landing pad. There are some people using this bug for easier access to the vendor chests. From what i can tell it's caused by some sequence of events with capturing and editing/selling ships. I don't know the exact sequence as i only had it happen once and haven't captured any ships since as the only way to fix it is to reload a save from prior to triggering it. I don't even know if ng+ would fix it. If i remember correctly someone said that getting back on your ship like you show here is a way to avoid triggering it, but i wasn't sure. I don't want to have to go back to NA every time i capture a ship to make sure it hasn't triggered the bug or potentially lose hours again by having to reload am old save. So i just haven't been capturing ships.
@@CarBENbasedits happen to me and you are right, but its only 1 time
Lots of good tips. TYVM.
I'm going to have to try ship juggle. Very nice.
Turtle is the god of Starfield space combat. Thanks for this!
I just realized lastnight that you can jettison cargo haul items in your ship from your ship inventory. I was doing some renovations at my house and had too many misc. Decor items to get rid of. I noticed you can just delete them pretty much from inventory instead of dropping or selling. Im sure most people know but if you don't, there ya go :)
One question (well, two technically): do the contraband items and the ones on the bodies of pirates also transfer to your inventory?
Contraband yes, it it's in the cargo hold. I think also if it's just sitting around in the ship. Items on bodies no, you need to loot those separately.
no and no, you need to manually loot bodies and contraband or they will be deleted with the ship
I took over a parked ship, sat in cockpit, verified ship was in my list of ships, saw there was some loose contraband, exited ship to get some loot, re-entered ship. All the contraband was gone. Had to reload save from before left the ship.
1:42 Holy Crap! DMG is for real...
ayeee the turtle making more guides kudos bro, im glad you can make more content for the masses. your 76 guides were peak
You saved me so much time gosh I used to M every captured ship back to dock.
Starting out, I would explore different planets and any ship that landed, I would go check it out. If it was pirates or Va'ruun I would take the ship. I wouldn't even fight the soldiers outside the ship, only the ones people inside.
On keyboard... what F*kin key activates the targeting mode??? I've tried this repeatedly and all I can do is bring up that little ship scanner. The targeting mode just... appears randomly, and it drives me NUTS.
Also... once you register can't you go and re-set your original ship as the 'home' ship and re-board it?
by default it's R you need one point in to targeting skill to use it, it's available only after you get target lock
I wish you could breakdown and save the modules to build custom ships from the parts
One of my complaints is the lack of credits sell spots have. I will probably only play this game one time through. Due to having to watch 1000 cutscenes to sell a few items and the lock picking mini game.
Vendors having only 5000 credits is ridiculous, it should be ten times that.
Awesome, thank you. I love the ships but boarding, taking & selling felt too slow to really be worth it.
you will actually make money faster by just blowing them up and snagging the dropped loot. not everything has to be done because it's the fastest way to profit or experience though. faster than both those options is landing on planets and clearing structures, snag all the guns and armor and sell it. usually get multiple structure sites per landing question is do you have more fun just blowing up ships, taking other peoples ships, or having gun battles on planets. do what is most fun, you'll be rolling in money and xp way faster than we should anyway, imo. without exploiting and actually playing the game I had enough money and xp to build and fly any ship I wanted in a week. actually enough money to build 4 or 5 maxxed out custom ships.
You are a fun - gamer to watch video of! I always have fun checking your content. Gives me always a laugh! Cheers mate, keep up!
Be careful with your crew doing this. I somehow tripped a bug and completely lost a crew member doing this. He's no longer in the list. It's like I dismissed him.
Geez. What weapons are you using to take out those ships so quickly? Those laser blasts are insane!
Starfield The Ship Snatcher - Extreme Power at Level 30

He's playing on easy mode
Nice video. It's madness how much tedium we have to go through just to have a little fun with our toys in starfield though. :/
Could you also just stand up in the cockpit after registering your new ship then walk back to your main ship through the docking bay? That way you don’t have to dock, undock, and quickly dock again?
I didn't try that, let me know if it will work ;)
I'm sitting here. In the fetal position. It's been a few days since my family has seen me. The windows are covered. My phone has 305 missed messages. But none of that matters. I am repeating the same phrase over and over:
"....Sell ships. You can press R to sell ships. You can press R to sell ships. You can press R to sell ships. You can press R to....."
HOW DID I NOT SEE THAT UNTIL NOW!?!?!?!
🤣
@Angry Turtle Gaming, you are one Lovely little critter !!!
Woah Turtle, what lasers are you using on the initial ship???😮
So glad to be back to your videos!
What ship are you using? The weapons look kick ass.
Great video. Some really good tips and some nice tactics
Finally got 10 ships and sadly learned that I can only have 10 😢
There is a console command to increase the limit, I plan to do that next time I log in.
Glad to find you playing Starfield. I haven't touche Fallout 76 since Starfield came out lol. I am still trying to stop the hoarding mentality though, I pick up everything that I find in Starfield, much like I did in Fallout 76. Old habits die hard.
It would seem this has already been patched and no longer doable, the second you make the new ship your home ship the game automatically sends your old one back to the starport and it disappears
Stealing ships is really pointless, unless you intend to keep that ship and have it as the one you actually use.
The last ship I stole was listed with a vendor value of 96k, registered in my inventory for 9.6k, then when I went back to the vendor to sell it it's value is magically now only around 11.5k. So at best you're getting around 2k out of that. I can do one quest and come back over encumbered with a full inventory of weapons/gear that each sell for double that.
It is pointless when you design your own class C its op , but still fun to steal some unseen cinfiguration ship 😂
You need to destroy ships to improve your skills though, so some space combat is good. If you loot the ship there's usually extra credits lying around too.
I like just collecting the ships to have a look around.
Add the credits in the stolen ship to the value of the ship and you’ve basically doubled your profit
High lvl ship garants 7-10k profit and have more 2-5k credits to stolen
Last two ships I captured will net about 55,000 credits when I sell them, not counting all the clobber I stole off the shop and the occupants. It takes longer to sell all the loot than to capture the ship.
Hello angryturtlegaming, I did the Crimson Fleet missions and got some new ship parts:
1 - Conduction Grid (Mass=1, Hull=1, Crew Capacity=1) Grid reduces EM damage by 50% and increases shield regeneration by 25%.
2 - ComSpike (Mass=1, Hull=1, Crew Capacity=0.5) time to lock onto enemy ships is reduced by 25% and weapons cost 20% less to use in Targeting Mode.
Are these parts good enough to install on your ship or should I not use them?
use them
@@angryturtlegaming Thanks for the quick response, I appreciate it, subbed 😉
I wonder how early you could get here and do this. Maybe use the exploit ship from his other video and go after the A's early game.
Turtle, are you gonna make a video on how to make your capture ship
I could but it's rather simple construction
you don't have to register when capturing. That's simply not true. When you make a ship your home ship, that is what locks it to you.
I know, my problem was that unregistered ships disappeared for me and registered ones only un registered themselves, the bugs 😅
What I do not get is that it looks to me the price the register the ships, are almost the same as selling them, so earn almost nothing?!..
I really wish selling items was better. The vendors never have enough money and the waiting mechanic is painful
Just saying: If you utterly plunder the ship before selling, you still get all items 'again' into your cargohold after selling. It's rather lame and maybe-kinda-exploity, BUT more money, rite?
this bord ship with front hatch, i did one also i named him "The Lamprey"
Awesome info. You got a SUB.
Would like to know more about your ship. 😊
Let's say you are lv 30 and want a Class B fighter. I cannot buy a Dogstar 104DS (39 power), so any ship I build is limited by power. But if I find a ship with that reactor and steal it, I can build from there, right?
So...anyone know what ship(s) I can commandeer with that reactor?
Great guide!
I'm still confused on the "Front Ship Docker" part. You're not using your ship to dock. So is it just because it's up front you have more time to redock? I thought you just had to be within 500m?
yes AI need to turn and avoid collision what gives me couple extra seconds
@angryturtlegaming Ok makes sense. I've done this about 15 times today and I've found the ship's Thrusters make this a breeze. I haven't missed the other ship once. And i forgot to change the ship docker ha.
Absolutely great video man! Took me to another level. Watching your weapon video now since you mentioned it. Cheers!
This ship is amaaazing
May I know what is the name of the docking system at the front of your ship ?
it's from hope tech
Awesome thanks for the vid Turtle!
Don't do this! it can trigger a pretty game-breaking bug. When I did this all of the sudden I always spawned a 1000m from where my ship landed, resulting in me having to run the 1000m+ how ever long there is from the landing site to my target. On top of that I lost the ability to manually board my ship, makin it extremely inconvenient, when I was encumbered and therefore not able to fast travel. I think the docking with your ship, when it is returning to homebase is what can trigger it.
wow 😲
Great tips, I learned new things
you can absolutely steal a ship if there's more than one, i did it multiple times when i was struggling to take on multiple ships at a time. If i managed to get knock one's engines out i would swoop in and dock and the rest of the enemy ships backed off and disappeared
You can sell ships without registering them for those saying its not profitable.
You absolute legend.
"...space V.A.T.S. ..." 😂😂😂
Is Turtle One basically Red Viper with a front-facing docker? Any other stat improvements over Red Viper?
it's not the best stat wise it's lvl 40 build
What weapons were you using!?
a and b class auto beams that unlock around lvl 40, but I went true ng+ again so this ship is gone 😅
@@angryturtlegaming auto beams huh .. How the heck you get them to stop shooting to not destroy the ship so you can board?
Nice vid, I was doing it like that but the trader don’t get money again. And yeah I was waiting ingame. Nothing happens :/
ship vendors need like week or two to reset credits, land on venus and wait there as time on venus goes 10x faster
@@angryturtlegaming thx
and the front docker on your ship is meaningless for this. It doesn't help. The docker that matters is the target. Just be aware of where your ship will be relative to the target ship so you can start turning the right direction immediately even before you know where your ship is based off the HUD notification. For your docker, it's better to have it super close to your cockpit to make things quicker when you board your own ship again. Nothing like have to run around and up ladders.. just slows you down.
I have a better strategy for this problem now, undock first aim at your ship and then go to ship menu and make it your home ship
With the way you showed in your video, you also wont have any issues with contraband goods from the "stolen" ship, as you dont fly into the vendor with the "stolen" ship. smart way to do it. thanks a lot
Thank you!
Also, this weapon setup is crap for capturing. Just put 4 particle weapons in slot 1 and 3 spark 750's in slot 2. 3 slots is pointless. the 750's don't hit the hardest but they have better range so can be used more in dogfighting to help out.
This was a Master Class 👍👍
Great tips
what ship weapons are you using here

hello turtle!! Followed you from 76. Great tips here! Also, FIRST
Hey, thanks!
This is sheer brilliance! Liked, subscribed, saved for later reference, and shared on my Discord! Well done, sir!
This system is the best for you on this playnthrew new game plus scrambles the whole univers where instances spawn and where temples and certian quests are
I check in 4 universes they are always there
So you're wrong about books... at least somewhat. There's a book vendor in Akila city that wants specific books. You bring her one copy of a fairly long list of books and she gives you like 4x the value. After that, it's only sale value, but it's absolutely worth taking any book worth about 600 credits to her before just selling them. The lower value books yeah just sell anywhere.
I thought you need EM weapons for to be able to steal ships?
EM weapons just make it easier to not accidentally blow the ship up
Is there a guide for this version of your ship?

What difficulty are u playing on?
very hard
Nice turtle! It sounded great here, how did it feel?!
Good!
Fantastic
Its so much effort to make 10k, i can make that from selling a couple guns, wished we could make more money from capturing ships
You can. The guns on the ship will get you another 10k, the contraband another 5k, the other loot another 8k. Then there’s the credits in the locker and hold.
unless its a complicated build you cant do yourself. then stealing ships is pointless.. they cost a fortune to buy and build upon, but worth peanuts when selling em...
