It's ridiculous, MLS teams have more than enough money to fund their entire respective academies. There's absolutely no need for players to be paying to be part of the teams
Elephant in the USSF Room!! Nobody cares bc they're making money! If you rock the boat you're messing w the dough bro! Here's the result, USMNT and MLS will forever be of a low level retirement quality.
This is so misinformed. Most top level youth soccer is all free, travel squads are not the top levels. If you are good there are scholarships, if you suck you will probably have to pay for the good kids...sorry. When did he play youth soccer 10 yrs ago. So much has changed.
"Most top level youth soccer" Is a very small percentage.... There is 590 MLSNEXT teams and anywhere from $4,000 to $10,000 a year, once you factor in travel and other expenses. If a small minority of people paid to play, it wouldn't be a big deal today....
@@JodabeniTV @JodabeniTV And of those 590 MLS NEXT teams MLS and USL along with others free academies make up approximately 200-240 of those teams. So to be accurate not all MLS Next teams are pay to play. It still exists but no one offers an alternative nor where that money comes from to pay for travel, coaching and facilities of those 350+ teams. Nor does anyone mention the huge shift in free academies in just the last 10 years. The full story and the ever changing landscape is important to tell to get a truly informed picture of where we are and where we want to be. Doesn't happen overnight.,
@@prodigy3078 That is not a solution. I want everything to be free too but am intelligent enough to know capitalism is the basis for our youth game to fill a huge gap in funding for youth soccer. Not end of discussion where does money come from.

MLS Academies do fund their players. They are talking about everyone else outside the MLS system who have to pay to play.
it ruined soccer 30 years ago. the USMNT, and the MLS, would look like the NBA and NFL if it werent for the expensive pay to play system.
Definitely. The barrier to entry was significantly higher than basketball.
This will help kids get off the streets as well
Is it better to choose an academy over playing highschool soccer?
I would Highly Recommend both if you can, but if not go the route of MLS NEXT PRO, a team that attached with a first professional team.
@@JodabeniTV ok, thank you a lot
How do I join a national team (in Europe)
Quick answer. Yes, but also it has ruined all sports.
I believe a proper balance is needed. So the majority of players have a chance.

I doubt it. money talks
