  • While Thomas' branch line was being upgraded for the Earl's Geoffrey, Thomas and his branch line friends all moved to Edward's branch line for the time being. While they were situated there, Toby began to befriend Bill and Ben the tank engine twins. He was warned from Gordon, Edward and even from BoCo but Toby didn't see them as cheeky engines, but he would soon find out the hard way.

    Every fan and the other engines: *chuckles* you're in danger

    I do like this grumpy take on Boco's character, both here and in the brake tender story.

    I wish Andrew Brenner had written a story like this, he himself said Toby, James and the twins were his favorite characters.

    Bill and Ben are like children yeah they can be mischievous little yellow gremlins but at the same time they have a child like innocence to them and probably very reliable to a lot of fans when they were kids and younger fans now a days.

    I've never known Toby this trusting and blind to follow advice since he's often the voice of reason to Thomas when he's on ego mode, like when he lied about being ill and Toby was the last one to forgive him. Also I understand BoCo's frustration but why would he lash out at Toby of all engines? Nonetheless, I love the story, great story telling as always, especially the end when Bill and Ben get their comeuppance!

    • @NWR1991
      @NWR1991  4 года назад +27

      Toby might be the voice of reason but he isn't perfect. Sure he had dealt with cheeky engines like Thomas and Percy in the past but he didn't know much about the twins since they were being kind to him, just so they can gain his trust and take advantage of him, which is the message of the story, don't take advantage of your elders. Also, as I said this earlier to someone else, to me I see BoCo with a bad temper and since he doesn't have much a persona, thanks to years of lacking attention from the writers of the official show in the past few years, and he lashed out at Toby because he didn't believe him when it comes to Bill and Ben in general and they wouldn't have known each other that long when they were working on the branch line.

    Fantastic Toby theme. Very uplifting also thank you for specifying that the Harbour on the mainland was Great Yarmouth. I could see Toby shunting LSWR and GER 3 plank and 5 plank wagons.

    I thought Boco was teaching Toby about the twins. Not Toby and Boco arguing.. I thought this story wasn't going to be a nice story due to Toby and Boco arguing. But this turn out to be a great and Trustworthy story. Nice Job NWR 1991. You did it again. Great story, great stuff.

    Fantastic episode! In fact, I think this is my personal favorite episode of the season. I can really relate to Toby because once I make a new friend and trust that person for a very long time, that person ultimately ends up stabbing me in the back, which leaves me to mistrust him or her. This episode teaches a good lesson of being mindful who your friends with. Once again, fantastic work on this episode and I can't wait to see more.

    Really enjoyed this episode, especially with Toby learning a valuable lesson about trust, and that lesson goes for the Twins. I hope that in an upcoming episode, the twins will be able to make amines with Toby. With that said, I think this episode would’ve been better if during the scene where Bill and Ben were taking to Toby about Boco and how “from their POV” he stole the trucks, either bill or Ben smirk, when Toby isn’t looking at them, showing how foolish he is for believing their tall tale, and in the next, their expressions change, showing sympathy.
    Overall, loved this episode and look forward to the next and any additional episodes that will be uploaded in the near future

    BoCo was out of character imo here and did come across as abit of a bully here. However nice to see these characters interacting. We’ve never seen Toby with boco or the twins before

      I never really made him as a bully. I tend to see him having a hot temper when things go wrong and lashes out before he realises his mistake by not thinking clearly. Some people say that BoCo doesn't have a persona so I gave him one which I see fit him as a flaw.

    Another great episode, NWR1991. At first, I thought Toby was a bit out of character, but like the synopsis hinted, Toby had not met them before so it's justified to move Toby out of his comfort zone a bit. Also it's not like BoCo to lose his temper, especially from what I seen in the tv series, however it works for the dynamic between him and Toby and Edward's wisdom to BoCo came in handy.
    Also nice moral about not taking advantage of the elders and the value of trust. Speaking of the trust moral, this episode reminds me, in a way, about Blue Mountain Mystery where the narrow gauge engines trust Thomas about Luke's secret and then they thought Thomas had let them down, which in Skarloey, Rheneas and possibly Rusty's case, it makes them go out of character like a lot of people who watch BMM said, and on one hand I can agree, but on the other hand, Skarloey and Rheneas in particular knew Thomas and was their friend for years, decades even, and Thomas betraying them and Luke, at least in their mind, came as quite a shock to them whenThomas saying he talk to Victor (AKA the yellow engine) about the incident, instead of saying he found the yellow engine alive and well and the yellow engine was Victor who confirm that the incident was not Luke's fault thus giving them and Luke a sense of relief, made worse by Diesel's arrival and plan to send Luke packing.
    Overall, a great episode. Hope Bill and Ben can redeem themselves in the next episode.
