Lovely to see Diesel 10 shown off here. I expected him to not be the same as he was in TATMR, well maybe similar but not as this maniac that movie portrayed him as. It's nice to see his backstory play out of him coming to the island and then being builled by the other engines because of his claw. Made me feel bad for him so I'm not surprised that he used his claw as a way of threat and chasing James away before being stuck on the bridge. I like his character and how you've portrayed him here, it's very nice. Even more nice is Rebecca, lovely to see that positive engine. I adore the friendship that she and Diesel 10 has, it's very wholesome. I did thought the ending was a little bit rushed though, like you were trying to cram his whole story before he moved to the museum. Other than that, it's a lovely episode. Great job!
I really love this take on Diesel 10, his reasoning to be menacing to the other engines made sense and having his backstory on your series be explained was really cool to see, also I love how you paired Diesel 10 and Rebecca, so sweet
Even though I still prefer Diesel 10 as a villain (even though I know TATMRR isn't that much of a movie you liked which I respect that) and threat to all steam and diesel engines who like them, but I do love your take on him of him getting bullied and ridiculed by all the steam engines when he first arrived (hence why his distaste for steam traction came from) and I did wonder whether he was going to chase James and his passengers until when watching it, he kinda had Pinchy stuck under a bridge referencing the fact by SiF's Real Lives of Thomas of that modification being too large to fit under bridges and tunnels even though this is something that could've worked in real life. I really felt sympathy for the poor guy. Nobody wants to be ridiculed like that. Also, I do love that sweet moment between her and Rebecca and I really wish that WAS featured in What Rebecca Does and not that fantasy scene where his claw was in that even though he didn't appear physically. Guess all we need now is an episode in the fandom similar to that. The Ugly Diesel as it is called, then why not The Ugly Steamer? Hopefully someone could work that into an episode sometime too.
omg a beautiful story. A nice take on Diesel 10. Not a menacing diesel, just a bad tempered diesel. Altho some might stick to meancing but this is a good one. Also Very good dynamic with Rebecca
Haven't seen Diesel 10 since he's cameos in the Vicarstown Railway Museum episodes it'll also be nice to see him in an episode where he DOESN'T try to kill the steam engines
I loved it! An absolute 10/10! No joke. It was very well written, Rebeca was perfect for this and I agree it’s not nice to call anyone ugly at all. Best episode in my opinion 😍
This was a much better way of showing Diesel 10 and his introduction is actually explained better. Plus it was a delight to see Rebecca come into play and make Diesel 10 feel better. Well done on another splendid episode :D .
I can somewhat relate to this episode because back when I was a kid I would bully make fun of and harass others as well as act very rude over minor things. Also back when I was a kid my parents would physically and verbally threaten me for misbehaving and they would sometimes hurt me when I did something wrong. And as I got older the trauma would make me do the same thing back at my parents. But this episode has made me realize that being harsh and rude is wrong and that both me and my parents have made mistakes. Me and my parents have buried the hatchet but this episode has reminded me of the mistakes that both me and my parents have made and that lashing out isn’t the right way to respond to bullying. Bottom line is that my parents did and said bad things to me and I responded by doing the same bad things back at them. What my parents did was wrong but what I did in response wasn’t right either. And the moral of this episode is that when someone says or does something bad don’t lash out because it would escalate the situation instead talk to someone and they’ll deal with that issue with ease. That’s what this episode has made me realize. So thank you nwr1991 for this episode glad you’re feeling better and I hope your trip goes well. Keep up the good work.
Seeing Diesel 10 pull Express coaches is fitting considering he is basically an experimental Class 42 Also, an episode with him and Harvey would be interesting since he is basically the modern-day Harvey: Hydraulic crane instead of gears and diesel instead of steam.
I honestly really liked Diesel 10 this time, which is SHOCKING. Don’t get my wrong, I thought the “New York Mobster” Magic Railroad version was funny but this is how he should have been handled. Although one thing I wish had been touched on is the idea that Pinchy (the claw) could retract into his roof. I do hope we see that come into play or is at least mentioned as a failed design mechanic.
Honestly I find the idea of his claw going in and out of his roof to be a stupid idea. When it comes to railway logic, how would it fit when his engine needs the space? Sure you can say that the claw makes no sense, but I tend to think that they'd added a mechanisim somewhere inside him.
@@NWR1991 I agree. I'm glad they didn't stick with that in the later drafts of MRR and the model since it would've had too many wires and electronics inside.
Well I'll give James credit for standing up to Diesel 10. This definitely explains why Diesel 10 was at the Victortowns Railway Museum, I'm glad he got a happy ending and that scene with Diesel 10 crying was wholesome.
A very interesting take on Diesel 10, good job. I can also really relate to this episode as well as when I was in my secondary school, I was often bullied for my name and for being half-Asian to the point where I couldn't take it anymore.
This really makes me think about how Diesel 10 would interact with Bear, since they're both Hydraulics, which are quite rare on British Railways Maybe there'll be cousin-ly bond, eh? Anyway, great episode as usual
I've had that idea too! Not to mention both of these classes used to work at the Western Region as well! Also, the "cousin-ly bond" was sort of fitting as their engines were from the same brand, and are even related! (2x Maybach MD650 V12's for the 42, and a Maybach MD870 V16 for the 35)
"Tom K's Model" Correction: Tangy was the one who made the actual model, Tom just exported it (as with all other 'Tangy' models). Still doesn't excuse Tom's actions, just thought I'd clear up some misinformation
Considering TATMR exist as a movie in your timeline, I’m wondering if the way he responded to the engines back then (Snapping his claw at them and threatening them that he’ll tear them apart) was what inspired the people who worked on the movie to make him a villain even though the real reason he did that was because the engines wouldn’t stop teasing him about the way he looks.
Hello there, NWR1991, I have to say... this was a pretty great episode and story, with an amazing message that it's ok to be different, and using D10 in a pretty unique way too.
