He played, from all accounts with great elan and lightness unlike most Chopin players today. He also had a real sense of sound which came instinctively from the pianos of his time. Those pia os had a much different sound than our instruments. If you want to gain a better feel for how Chopin might have played, we need to study the instruments he played, esp the Playels and some Erards. This is where the keys lies. How many modern pianists actually have??
And how would Chopin have played the music of J.S. Bach? How would Beethoven play the music of Bach? Would they have played it the way Bach played it? ...
