  • Second experiment playing in an airport. I was doubting whether to play or not because everyone was sleeping around the piano. Finally gained courage and sat down. Nobody complained apparently!

How can people just walk past such a brilliant artist? I would have to miss my flight to listen to her! Not even some applause.

How can people pass by and not stop to listen to one of the best pianists in the world! Her Chopin playing is pure magic! I wish I'd been there.

Absolutely amazing how a giant like Miss Ingrid plays for these dim wits and not one of them applauds. This is why our society is lost. To hear one of the best contemporary classical artists of our time for free and no reaction. Thanks you Miss Ingrid!

Ingrid you are amazing. I love your chopin performances and can't believe all those people just walked past while you we're playing seemingly oblivious. Hope to see you next time you are in the UK.

Reminds me of when Terje Tønnesen, concertmaster of the Oslo Philharmonic, played the violin in the streets of Oslo several years ago, dressed as if he were poor. Nearly everyone just passed by without noticing the quality of his performance, until an elderly gentleman approached him, almost crying, to say what pity is was that someone behind such a beautiful interpretation of Bach played for a living outdoors wearing rags.
The lack of musical education of the public is evident. Wonder how the reaction would have been in less affluent places, like in the outskirts of, say, Naples.

I, too, played on that piano and worried about the sleeping people! How nice of them to provide that piano, among many other very unusual features of that airport. Thanks so much for posting this. And congratulations on your Milwaukee Symphony performances this weekend (Chopin 2)!

The first piece is a movement from Chopin's piano concerto #2...the third movement, I think. She plays it as well as, or maybe better than, anyone on the planet!

Upon witnessing this extraordinary "experiment" performed by one of the world's finest pianists, I couldn't help but think of the tale of Baucis and Philemon as told by Ovid. In this story, the god Jupiter and his favorite companion the god Mercury are undertaking an experiment of their own -- to test the compassion and goodwill of the people of Phrygia. The gods conduct their experiment in stealth cloaked in mortal guise while seeking food and shelter throughout the land. Only the humble Baucis and Philemon provide food and drink for the two Olympians who reward the couple richly and eternally.
All that to say this: we all too often forget to see and hear the greatness and beauty all about us.
You never know when you might one day be visited by a god -- or a goddess.

This experiment was done by Joshua Bell. Same result... This shows the current level in our society. Very sad, but true. Having said this, I understand the need to share the treasure we carry with us as musicians all of our lives. Setting our ego aside, and playing for our loved ones who may no longer be there in the audience, for the composer, for music itself.

Once I have heard, that to be a good actor. It means playing so that a casual observer can say that he or she can easly do the same.
I think the same is with any other skill. Driver, brickleyer, welder., et cetera.
You don't have reason to be worry sir. You are just good at what you're doing.

What is truly sad is the fact that so many people take the time to listen to this video (which Ms Fliter obviously took some amount of pride in recording) but she never bothers to answer even ONE comment. Hmmm why does she even bother recording these little airport excursions??

    • @iLolek10
      @iLolek10 6 лет назад

If she would answer on one comment. Then many of the others would feel kind of unconfortable - "why not mine"
and some of them would feel jealous.
