AAW I love this I love nostalgia this is brill my grandad had a great friend who was a traveller he was a true blue He used to tie his pie bald horse in grandad's back yard RIP. both they are long gone .
In Scotland in the early 60's when lots of travellers began moving into houses we had a family move in next door. We were a worried family. Ignorance breeds fear and mistrust. They turned out the best neighbours anyone could wish for and I won't hear a bad word spoken about travelling people.
Thanks a lot for the walk down memory lane. Though we were very poor, my mother would give them a few pennies and some bread and butter to the children. I was always impressed by yhe women with their babies wrapped into their shawls. We had so little, all of us, yet it was good.
Very informative pictures because we can learn that there were travelling metal formers about them with roots in prehistorical times! Not even archaeologists should take this tradition in mind :-)
