fuel pumps and driveshaft will fail, other than that it's much better built than a Land Rover product. Great sound!

To be fair, I didn’t have many issues other than the Starter Motor. It probably is a better built vehicle but the practicality of the Disco far outweighs anything the Cayenne offers to counter. Looks and sounds good but ends there IMO.

‘A bit of a wus car’ ..I think you said. I have 5 of these - including a turbo S and GTS think you should enjoy your driving around in a Reliant Robin..!

I don’t recall calling it a bit of a ‘wus’ car. I’m not sure what that means to be honest. I just preferred the Discovery platform and haven’t had the pleasure of driving a Reliant Robin…. Yet!

For me the first gen 955 Turbo or Turbo S without the front number plate North America spec looks absolutely epic with the massive grills. The 957 Turbo S comes with PDCC chassis control which totally transforms the handling. I'd love one but the 20mpg and £700 year road tax is putting me off. I think the best looking ones are totally standard without modifications, but with the presence of The Russian Mafia about them.

The 955 was my first choice but couldn’t really find one I was happy with and flipped between loving the classic look or hating how dated it looked sometimes. The USDM Bumpstrips that follow the arches etc.. really make the grey 955 look great.

If it’s a V8 4x4 just for noise, that would be my pick.

I am the second owner of a 2008 Disco 3 with the 4.4 V8. 170,000 miles on it now. Not a single mechanical problem in the 4 years I’ve owned it. I’ve replaced the battery, suspension air compressor (which was still factory) and the front lower control arms (normal wear item on the Disco/LR3 because they fuse together and you can no longer get an alignment with them). I’ve lifted it 1.5” and put larger BFG K02 tires on it, and it is an absolute tank of an SUV (especially in the winters we get in northern USA). Only problems it has is the drivers seat warmer no longer works, the flapper motor in the air ducting doesn’t push hot air to the left side of the vehicle, and my cruise control is a little spotty.
Also, I’d personally advise to stay away from the Disco 4 with the supercharged V6. My dad has owned one for 2 years and it’s been plagued with problems.
All that being said, I would also really like to find a nice GTS with the manual transmission and compare the two.
