    This is one of my first liked videos on youtube. Jesus, this song takes me back to simpler times when I wasn't worried about bills, finding a job or dying an early death.

    One of the greatest videos in RUclips history. I remember when this video was made back in the earlier years of RUclips. The verses actually go so hard and the ending is great haha

    @xXxWilliExXx I think that actually may have been intentional because the lyric at that time is "can't even integrate." So it could be like a double meaning of that and how that integral looks like the word sex.

    At 1:03, the graph could be y=2^(-x), it's hard to see. So the graph could be correct. Depends on if there is a negative in front of the x. It is badly drawn though.

    What do I know in math: calculus, multi-variable calculus, vector calculus, differential equations, partial differential equations, linear algebra, complex analysis, group theory, abstract algebra, differential geometry, real analysis, tensor analysis, methods of approximation, and a lot more.
    You know what? I still don't know enough, and I never will know enough mathematics. I use all this and more in daily research (chemical physics, theoretical chemistry, and crystallography).

    @stupidfleshmonkies Abstract algebra is great course and really opens up to advanced algebras. You need calculus (up to multivariable) and it reallys helps to understand linear algebra (specifically, matrix operations). Abstract algebra is a huge field. I keep mentioning group theory. Well that's actually a special field within abstract algebra. Abstract algebra is found in almost every area in mathematics. To be honest it can somewhat to "abstract" but it's very powerful.

    I know nothing about math.. literally! Lol! Loved it!

  • @ErwinSchrodinger64
    @ErwinSchrodinger64 13 лет назад

    @stupidfleshmonkies Once I was in graduate school, the rest of the math courses where taught through the physics department. I was lucky to take group theory. Physicist and physical scientist usually take 2 courses in advanced mathematical methods at both the undergraduate and graduate level (a total of 4). This is where you're taught some what esoteric fields of math. In addition, differential geometry and Fourier analysis was taught again by the physics department as special courses.

  • @ErwinSchrodinger64
    @ErwinSchrodinger64 13 лет назад

    @stupidfleshmonkies Statistics... absolutely. It's the corner stone of quantum theory and crystallography. How could I forget. I've touched on topology in molecular modeling and I've fiddled with algebraic topology but by no means even a novice. However, I do realize how powerful topology can be (overlap integrals).
    Representation theory, I've had no exposure to but having the mathematical knowledge of turning abstract groups to a linear space sounds facinating and very applicable.

  • @ErwinSchrodinger64
    @ErwinSchrodinger64 13 лет назад

    @stupidfleshmonkies What I mean by powerful is that abstract algebra allows you to make very, very complicated calculations into vastly simpler steps. This is why you're always learning new math. It allows complex problems to be reduced to much simpler problems very succintly.

    @stupidfleshmonkies Even with the above you haven't really scratched the surface. As you take more advanced physics courses you're taught more math. For instance, quantum theory teaches you perturbation theory, group theory, renormalization, integral transforms (Laplace transforms, Taylor expansion, gamma functions,... ect), and so forth. So you're always learning math.
    What's astonishing is that in research-science you actually always apply the math all the time.
