Buy this one. You can save a few thousand by getting the Macan S instead of the GTS. Same engine, same ride. Should run about 62-66 k with some nice options. The dynamic lighting system is really nice to have if you can do that. 300 bucks for an oil change so they aren't cheap to maintain. Can fit all my kids in, some stuff in the hatch and still move quickly. The ideal vehicle for someone that has a family but wants to have fun driving.

Great job, you two! I got to drive a 2017 Macan GTS at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta last year and it blew me away with how capable and fun it was around the track. The Macan GTS is likely all the "sports car" that most people will ever need while being really practical and well-built. Thanks for the video!

Love it! The GTS is the best. Even if you have Turbo money, the GTS has intake noise in the cabin, so it wins.

I start my Macan GTS with the loud exhaust mode all the time. You just have to turn the key one click, not start the engine. Then hit the sport exhaust and/or sport mode button and THEN turn on the engine.
Cheater mode
You CAN start the car with the Sports Exhaust turned on. I do it all the time. Just turn the power on but don't start the can, then turn on the Sports Exhaust, then turn the key all the way and switch it on. BOOM !!

I've been driving my 2015 Porsche Macan Turbo for three years and I still love it. What a great drive and I can put on my smile daily (legally) at 140 KPH= approx. 88 MPH, just like back to the future. This SUV is highly recommended for those that like to drive. Nice work fellas.

I opted for the Sport Chrono package, Torque Vectoring, and many other packages. Best car I've ever owned or driven! Thanks for this video!
I've have had 2 911C2's and 2 911 C2S including the 991 version as well as a Cayman S and a Cayenne S. I now have a 2018 Macan Turbo and love it. It's a very practical car and it's quick and handles at about 90% of a 911. I loved everything about your excellent review. The only downside is the gas consumption when you drive it like you're supposed to.
Porsche doesn’t allow Android Auto because Porsche will not agree to Google’s data collection protocol.

420 Friendly It’s more to do with the Apps built into the vehicle. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, are not simple screen mirroring (as many think) - hence why some manufacturers don’t have the capability - as a licence is required from Apple/Android. Some manufacturers are simply not happy with Android history of data collection and ‘sharing’ - feeling that they ‘may’ sell data to third parties OR, more importantly, other vehicle manufacturers. But hey, don’t let the facts get in the way - I’m sure your knowledge of all the reasons is far more than the actual manufacturers - you must be fighting them from your door.
You guys have become my go to for car reviews believe me I've got a few favorites but after looking and listening, I can say that I am entertained but importantly I am educated by your reviews. Keep up the great banter lol and work God bless.

You guys are so right. I rented a Macan Turbo from Turo and, despite it being an "SUV", it just might be my favorite car I've driven. It's a lot of fun and is extremely high quality on the inside. I can't think of a more well rounded car.
Is this GTS the sweet spot in the Porsche line up? Would you take this over an F Pace or Velar... Or anything else?

Without a doubt I would take the GTS. I've had my eye on it since it was released, one day I'll trade my '14 Touareg for one. Also you guys say Porsche right

The S has the same engine and ride for thousands less. I'd go Big T turbo for the huge jump in performance with a moderate increase in price.
This car is not really a Porsche. It’s more of a rebadged audi, sharing many parts and even the engine of the Audi Q5/SQ5. Same goes for the Cayenne and panamera with other Audi models. Their drive definitely un-Porsche like when compared to purist Porsche’s like the 911, Boxster and Cayman.
I would like to compare it to Alfa Stelvio QV, probably the Alfa has an edge with the Ferrari engine and better Nurburgring times

I have a 2018 GTS with sport chrono, and it is an essential option for this car. And it is a car. This is my daily driver...I also have a 2012 Cayman R that is raw and evil, whereas this is raw with a sense of civility. This is almost as fast as the R, and I could drive this from New Jersey to California and my back would be better than if I was sleeping in my bed. This is the closest thing to a perfect combination of fun and purpose that I have ever seen.

I have a new Macan GTS. Really enjoyed this review which was spot on. Finish, exhaust sound, handling, acceleration through the powerband are all awesome. I have Sport chrono and my only gripe is that comfort mode is a little too soft, sport mode a little too hard around town and chrono is almost unusable. If Porsche could drop in a 4th mode one up from comfort and turn sport + into ‘Race’, this car would be perfect. I’d also spec torque vectoring next time instead of a couple of vanity options. A proper Porsche having just come out of the Cayenne.

I actually really have come to appreciate the media system in the Porsches. It works. It works well. It's simple. The ability to carry around 256GB of digital music (actually, that's just with the two 128GM SD cards, it supports USB devices as well) is just wicked, and it *WORKS* when you want to shuffle giant playlists of music, which few other vehicles do well - modern Audis and not much else.

It has satellite radio, Aha, Amazon Music, Bluetooth streaming, Apple CarPlay, USB, AUX, Napster whatever, AM/FM, and Jukebox storage. Maybe they weren't able to really unlock everything in the time they had with the vehicle.

I love my 2017 Macan GTS! And in Volcano Gray with the red interior it looks amazing. Had to get a Cobb Tune on it though. Now it's got 500 hp nd torque and only cost like $1000 lol

Guys you were 100% correct with choosing the Macan GTS over Velar and FPace. I test drove all 3 plus X5, V90, GLE, GLC, Q5, Q7, Levante, Grand Cherokee Summit and the absolutely fun to drive Alfa Romeo Stelvio (non Quadrifoglio). When I started out I was sold on the Velar exterior and interior looks, but just as you guys concluded after driving them, the Macan is just better handling, quieter, more comfortable and just has a higher quality feel than all the others. I got the GTS instead of the S since I wanted air suspension and the AMAZING ADJUSTABLE SPORT EXHAUST! MY Macan GTS is amazing! The Alfa is the best fun to drive value SUV, but the Macan is the Head of the Class!

The only fail of this video is the lack of Sport Chrono. Also the acceleration figures are off. 5.0 for sport mode and 4.8 for Sport Chrono.
You can option All Season tires or Summer tires depending on you preference.
The Porsche logo on the CD slot door only comes on the full leather interior which includes the dash, door panels, and console etc.

That diamond button is the HOV button. Push it, and for a small convenience fee, Porsche will airdrop a passenger into your vehicle to accompany you during your commute.

You can start the Macan with PSE valves open by first putting the car into accessory mode (key position 2, no crank), then press the sport exhaust button and also sport mode for best results!

Great review guys! my wife and I love our Macan GTS. had it a year and have put 20k miles on it. Love every second of it. I went from a 2009 BMW M3 to the Macan and have hardly missed the M3 (although I DO miss the high redline). :)
Porsche went without Android Auto since Google apparently asked for more data than they were willing to give them (throttle position, speed, revs...). TheVerge had an article about it a while ago.
Yeah. I read that somewhere as well. But my GTS has Google Earth, Street View, and Online Search. So the "Too much data" excuse we both saw, doesn't really make sense to me. But it's still super annoying that they can't just let you mirror whatever phone you have. So everyone could stop fussing over the two. Oh well.

When the visor is moved to the side there’s a gap that it doesn’t cover where the sun can hit your eyes from the side. They test to see if the visor extends to cover this.
Great review. Love the coverage on Macan’s. It’s the most underrated Sports SUV and yet is the best handling and true sports SUV in its class.

Porsche Macan is a really another level of SUV. Either I can't imagine to drive another SUV after Macan. Just love it.

The macan is one of the oldest models from Porsche. Gets replaced soon. And it was the first gen. So basically a vw tiguan transformed in a budget Porsche
rockn roll some volkswagens share the same chassis with Porsche and audi. The toureg shares the same chassis with the Porsche cayenne.
Porsche Guy, Billy Owusu, Porsche does not share platforms with VW but with Audi. The Cayenne is build on the Q7 platform. The Macan uses Audi's (last gen) Q5 platform, which is a MLB platform, while the VW Tiguan uses a MQB platform which is an extended version of the Golf's MQB platform.
The martini glass and shaker in the back was a nice touch.
As much as I love Porsche's, their exhaust note sounds terrible on almost every model they currently have on the market.
How about the 911s? Especially the NA Flat Six on the 911 GT3, That sounds glorious
That's because of the switch to smaller-displacement turbocharged engines. Learn to love it because there won't be a lot of combustion-engine cars in the future.

IamTheStig03, I saved myself by saying almost every model and not every model. I do like the 911's sound, but that might be the only Porsche, with the exception of the 918.

You've done such a unqiue way of reviewing the car, I didn't even realize you were reviewing anyhting but the driving at first. Then I began to realize that during the video you go over everything just like Doug does, but you do it in a way that's super cool. I love love love the Jaguar F-Pace. Especially in the S trim. But, it in no way comes close to the perfection of the Macan. Great video, guys! Wish I could double thumbs up it!
