Zach, that looks like a great loop, except for all the blow downs. May have to look into that saw. I have a folding saw I bought at Lowe's that's pretty good, but larger.
Yeah it was, the Avery Creek valley has an extensive trail system perfect for big loops. I just hiked there last weekend knocking out a few more trails on the opposite side of the valley. I think the saw is perfect for camping given its weight and blade length compared to other saws with a similar blade length. Based on all the stuff I've watched and read, if you want to cut more and also tackle larger logs, the Silky Gomboy series is probably the best overall saw to throw in a pack. Especially the curved blade 240 and 270 mm. Those seem to be the favored lightweight saws of many bushcraft/survivalists types.
I did a lot of those trails just a few weeks ago via mountain bike. Upper Black Mtn, Avery Creek and Buckhorn have all had recent substantial trail maintenance done by a local trail builder.

Ah that's nice, that's one of the problems being 10 months behind on videos.
I love Pisgah Forest. That’s so cool that you help out on trail maintenance while your hiking. Really cool 👍
Love those views out there.
I try to do a little, I don't always carry the saw.
So cool how you know all the peaks
Great hike man...wish I was up there...miss your videos, put some more out...was in that area many years ago
Sorry I've been busy for a while and videos are not a top priority
Awesome!
