It is so hard to work on a low surface, Marie’s poor back. That is why Stephanie’s Aunt and Uncle always sit while doing prep work. Great job Amaury ! A nice long working area is like gold in the kitchen.
I"m not sure which I love more - the new kitchen work surface or the changes in the chapel. They are each life changing so going to go with both. Delighted for Marie. That work surface will save her back from agony. The kitchen is now looking more professional, as it should. The chapel ceiling is extraordinary. When the chapel is completed it is going to be a true jewel box of a building worthy of celebrating. Oh, and the orange dress! Understand why Vivian could not let it go to a charity shop. I live in Southern California, never thought I'd see an In & Out Burger T-shirt at the La Lande dinner table. That is SoCal formal wear.
I was rather disappointed in that attire. Why would anyone wear a sloppy, logoed, t shirt to such a splendid dinner. Looks like the wife got dressed for dinner, why not him? These are the traditions I miss. Anyway, they should mention a smart, casual dress code for dinner and no t-shirts, flip flops allowed.

I’ve always thought “how on earth do people prepare meals on that table, I’d be in agony” and now I see that it was causing people to have back pain. Love the new work surface though, Amaury did an amazing job. ❤
I have also thought the same. They should remove the table and put a big island in the middle as a works surface and storage. The spode cupboard could go in the dining room. The kitchen would be much more functional for the chefs. They could put bar stools on the one side for people to have a quick snack in the kitchen.

I have been overly chatty lately, and I realize now that is because the two of you, Anmuary and Natti, Mummy and Percy , Chantelle and your adorable uncle ( I can't think of his name 😢) my husband and I call him Anmuary's suave father. You all make my soul happy. And I can't see something wonderful and not comment about it.

Is "bench" a common French or English word for bar or counter top? I've seen others comment this as well, and as an American I've only ever known "bench" used for a long wooden seat option, usually outdoors in parks, but also sometimes with farmhouse style tables. It's always fun to learn how differently words are used across the world.
Phillip got a great bargain with all of those books! And I love how sweet you two are to each other! The worktop is a work of art, and OH SO needed -- I think it's going to be a real game-changer for meal prep.

Wow! Amaury’s worktop is made to look as if it’s always been there. The addition of metal completely altered how it looks, so it fits in so perfectly. He is incredibly talented. The Chapel painting is quite magnificent and I just can’t believe how astonishingly beautiful the chapel will look when finished. It really is the most beautiful building. ❤

The Rothchild design soup tourine by the world famous HEREND ceramic factory of Hungary, is also one of my family's heirlooms. My grandmother (I am 78 yrs. young) was a lifelong collector of that design, and I was fortunate to get the (@12) dinner and dessert plate to my home in Toronto Canada. The Victoria design was given to Queen Victoria on her 60th birthday.

First Amaury did up and beyond what I thought he was going to do, I mean it’s perfection you’d never know it wasn’t always there.
Then you go into the chapel and HOLY COWS! What a transformation, it looks just wonderful.
Then you ended it with such a beautiful dress and it fits you like a glove, that color looks stunning on you. Bravo Vivian! 👏 by the way my husband and I were married in 92 and I completely agree with you about it not being ancient although it is 32 years if I actually think about it, oh my.
The counter top looks fantastic, and the stove, I recently discovered tiles can be painted but take a very long time to cure, the back now needs a refresh and the meal looks yummy
I have been hoping that Stephanie would choose some traditional blue & white Delft tiles as a backsplash & on the walls behind the stove (not dour black or grey) ...as a nod to Phillip's Dutch heritage. 💙🤍💙 But I keep reading comments that Stephanie had some tiles designed with her father's artwork on them ...I wonder if they'll ever be made (?) 🤔🧐
They can't place the tiles until the kitchen is remodeled which will per be a while. I'm not sure what they are planning to change about that area but if Amaury has anything to do with it it will be perfection.

Excellent idea Maria. We had no idea the kitchen table was so low for preparations. The preparation board is a proper chef board. Excellent work and craftsmanship Emery as always. Happy for Marie that she doesn’t have to strain herself and can enjoy the preparations. The next thing is to move over the spice rack away from the wall. I can’t phantom having to walk all that way for spices especially if you’re cooking three meals a day. I would stick it on the front of one of the doors of the cabinet near the dishwasher area. I don’t think Stephanie will mind you’re the chef after all. They should be at arms reach or they can be lined up on that little shelf of your huge cutting board. Stick a-framed picture on the Hydro box😊 to cover it when you remove the spice rack😂💝 happy preparation’s Marie.
That cloth spice holder can be for the bulk spices ...and/or even rare spices ...and Marie can put up a spice rack of the most used & common spices she uses for most meals on one of those shelves at the back of the new wood work-space.
