I read on the Tolkien wikipedia that Tauriel died of grief.
But crazy as it is, it's almost uplifting...Tauriel followed her love to the next world where they were together forever
It’s never confirmed that Tauriel died of grief. Evangeline Lilly doesn’t think so; she thinks Thranduil allowed Tauriel to return to Mirkwood and she resumed her duties but with a new perspective she didn’t have before.
Also, sad to say, Elves and Dwarves have different afterlifes in Tolkien’s texts. Elves go to the Halls of Mandos and Dwarves go to the Halls of their creator Aulë.
@@12classics39 It's also said at the end of The Fellowship Legolas managed to get Gimli to go with him to the Grey Havens, so maybe Kili joined Tauriel in the Elvish afterlife, or vice versa. Love will always find a way.

Not a expert on LOTR lore so Questions: I know Tauriel isn't in the books but if Kili survived the events of the Hobbit and became King after his uncle passing, would he have been free to marry Tauriel? What does a half Dwarf half elf look like??

It appears in a few tracks during the soundtracks of "the desolation of smaug" and "The battle of the five armies" fo example in "Feast of Starlight" which can be found in the Desolation of smaug soundtrack
