Great info. Thanks! How long does the LCD display stay on? I didn't like the original 40w bc the display turned off after a few seconds. I just bought the Zhiyun M20C and may get this as a backup. I also have a Colbor CL60R.

Hey, youre the guy to ask! Just got some Ulanzi quick release mounts delivered, IN-01 style. Each base come with a little clear bag with what looks like a sticky side gasket? Any idea where to use them? Thx !!

FYI, the rgb version is not as bright as the bi-color version, which would not be as bright as a single color unit if it existed for this product line. The Watts rating is not for the strength of light, but power consumed. The more colors you make available, the less surface area of led you have committed to each color. (in particular the rgb colors tend to be a lot less bright). So the rbg version of this when using a softbox might not be bright enough for a lot of people.

How do you know this? Have you tested this? I had the bicolor light version and returned it bc the display would not stay lit and there were not any accessories available.

@ckdesignlab this is true for literary every single light that is rated by watts, outside of a few high end led mats. they should come out with a standardized lux test for these lights to replace watts. but it is what it is.

I was wondering for the same exact reason as the reviewer didn't do any kind of brightness comparison between the 2 types of lights. He didn't attach an accessory to show it was still useful. I might consider getting the RGB if it's easier to adjust the lower brightness levels as from what I understand the Pro version is still pretty bright at the 1% level and there isn't much variation when stepping up from the lower end. I watched two reviews which said the bi-color with "silicone diffuser" on was just a tad too bright when trying to light his desk in a simple up close smaller studio set up. The reviewer only had to adjust his camera's ISO to reduce the over exposure. It was a minor issue but I mean if I can go a little dimmer, it will be less eye strain so maybe the RGB is ok in CCT mode in that regard. I really wish there were more videos about this 40W RGB version as it's a known fact that LEDs are grouped in sets pertaining to their light type so bi-color might split half the total of number LEDs for the 2 colors, RGBW will have a different number of dedicated LED sets which are not always on to achieve a similar color temperature goal at a God only knows brightness level.

@@robertconrad6802 every light that I see released has a lux peak luminance rating with and without a reflector from 1/2 meter, 1 meter and sometimes 3 meters. I just bought the Zhiyun M20C and it's amazing. There's no reflector but it has 1950 lux rgb and 2010 lux bicolor, so the difference is minimal. RGB is never intended to be a key light. I'm going to use it as a bicolor fill light for video and rgb for product photography and video.

Just a heads up the ulanzi website says the 40W Pro is 13150 Lux vs 9100Lux for RGB, both rated with reflector on and probably overlocked. So you are looking at roughly a 30% difference in max brightness.
