- Billy Hargrove and Maxine aka Madmax, the hurt siblings who only had each other…
Or not.. I wish their relationship was better though. I have an idea that they really loved each other but because of their previous struggles they had a hard time opening up to each other. I think you can see that in the last episode. It just broke my heart when Billy died.
RIP Billy Hargrove.
Also, I know both the thumbnail and edit in itself is more about Billy than Max but I tried my best to make room for her and their relationship.

The fact that he was the character to die really disappointed me. He deserves so much more time to be on the show.

What about the S2 Joyce’s husband he died
I really wanted to see Billy after this traumatic experience and how it would've affected him, but nope. I guess they didn't want to add another Steve into the mix.
I hope he comes back somehow

if they didn’t kill him off we would’ve been able to see who he really was. through season 3 i was waiting for a brother sister moment between billy and max but there wasn’t one

Yeah, it's very unfortunate.... I think the only brother-sister moment they really had was when they locked him in the sauna and he was crying. But still, not really one, considering he was the mind flayers host.
I don’t think there was a big relationship there... I mean, he was very abusive and violent throughout the second season and they never really bonded in the show
their relationship as step-siblings could have been explored way better.

1:25 is were the “mean billy” comes from, you can truly see how he feels worthless, has no power. So he takes that power out at other people

Menames Nstheboss that does kinda of make sense. But why would the upside down billy save eleven because if he was from the upside down he should be under full control of the mind flayer, I think. But that would be great if billy was alive and could be saved from the upside down.

@@tuavb3882 if this were the case Billy would be linked in some way to his upside down self. They're the same person so they share the same memories and stuff. I did notice that Billy very much struggled to acclimate to normal living environments as we saw in his scenes at the pool where he wasn't seeing straight. Will never seemed to have that same problem when being possessed by the mind flayer in season 2, so I thought it was possible that him struggling so much was because it was another version of Billy not used to these living conditions. Another thing that makes this possible is the fact that Billy himself was obviously the main host of the mind flayer, so in killing the main host the mind flayer would be killing himself... Right? And we have seen that the mind flayer is a very intelligent being. Dacre said something similar in his recent undercover interview. So it could be possible that Billy (the main host) is still in the upside down, and the Billy we saw all season was like you guys said, simply an alternate version of himself. It's certainly possible theres plenty of evidence if you simply look, and I more than anyone want Billy alive. He's my favorite character, but I don't think they'll bring him back unfortunately.

I thought the same thing. What if billy tries to escape the upside down as a monster and then he runs in to hopper. Hopper avoids billy thinking he is controlled by the mind flayer. But then they figure out what is going on, and then they try to escape together.

When I was watching season 3 on the last episode, my friend was texting me saying "your gonna cry when something bad happens" and I told her "no, I never cry in movies or TV shows, and you know that" when Billy died, I felt so bad for Max, cause Billy was her only sibling, and that's when my heart just burst. I bursted out crying on my bed, and couldnt believe why they wouldn't just let Billy live, but instead have him dead? I reminded myself how much I didnt really like him, but when he died, I guess I actually cared for him.
Sounds like me :D If you want to cry in other TV shows, try "Lucifer", "when they see Is" or "Final Space" :D at least it made me cry :D

i’m mad that we didn’t get to see who billy was truly and personally. he was obviously hurt throughout his life that is why he was acting the way he did. the writers had an opportunity to explore him and max’s character and their relationship better.

I think there is more to Max’s story. Like what the hell was Billy talking about in season 2 and it seemed like it wasn’t the first time she put a needle in somebody’s neck!

Billy was my favourite. Its really sad, that when you think about Suzie and Dustin singing... I know it is a TV show, but if it wasnt written and it was real life situation, just imagine that someones duet slows down the shutdown of the key and that means that you die :D :D

It’s not that he was a bad brother it’s because we know why he was such a dick. His whole family broke and his dad just shows up and says this is your sister like that’s not easy. And just imaging how much he would’ve missed his mom. The dad brought Susan and Maxine out of nowhere saying this is your new family be happy or be quiet. Like that’s not easy especially how young he was. That’s hard.
season 4: billy is in the upsidedown after he dies and he's able to connect to Hopper (like how Billy and El did) who is in a holding cell in Russia (if you heard the Russians say "not the American that's what I'm talking about) Billy wants to help free Hopper but in order to do this he needs to escape the upsidedown. In order to escape, he connects to El then El and Will come back to Hawkins to save Billy. Then Billy and El try to save Hopper but they get back up from El's sister (season 2). They save Hopper and then they realize that the Russians have one of the monsters (i forgot the name of them oops) so of course, they go and kill it and try to figure out how the Russians got the monster.

Billy's last stand was awesome. He had such an interesting arc.
there relationship at the start of s2 makes me really sad. me and my step-brother act like we’re proper siblings and he’d do anything for me. it makes me sad that some step-siblings are just like them :(
But you know why he acts like that toward Max, she came out of nowhere, Neil saying “This is your sister” and you can’t do or say anything about it. He legit saw his mom get abused by his father, had no on to take his rage on so he did on people at school and his little sister, Max. That’s why when he was yelled at in the baseball scene by his dad in the flashbacks, right after that he went school and called the kid the same thing that his dad had called him. I guess he got used to it like these things are not easy. Not everybody is going to have a perfect realshionship with someone pushed and squeezed into your life. It takes time to adjust and he hasn’t fully adjusted. Although I do wish we could see Billy like taking Max to the fun fair having a good time apologizing to Steve and teaching him some moves in basketball, but he’s dead now and I really hope the Duffer Brothers can find a way to maybe bring back his sprit? Like something like flashbacks of scenes that we didn’t see of Max and Billy on screen. Idk, that’s just my opinion. :/
Billy dying made me think of my older brother and how he would do that for me and as a younger sibling i wholeheartedly relate to max because i dont know what i would do without my older brother in my life

I would’ve liked him to be alive and become Steve’s best friend sort of, because he had a lot of deep character development and it would have been really emotional to see him meeting everyone else as himself,
Not only that, but it’d be really interesting to see how he recovers from his experience. I’d imagine he’d be more shocked than scared unlike Will, as he got to see basically everything and probably wasn’t under much threat, because he had his moments where he stood up and looked at the Mind flayer, he probably got used to that. But he would become cautious whenever alone and out alone in the dark.
Even if he was another Steve, I would’ve loved to see him take a similar journey. But instead of changing personality through love and guilt like Steve, Billy had to stay close to the only people who knew anything about what happened to him, and being very close to make up for the times he tried to kill them all

I think it's because Billy had a really rough childhood, tried to fight the mind flayer from fully taking over him, and grown up to be raised a jerk, only to be given love at the last minute. (when El was reminding him of his happiest memory)
I think it was the way max reacted that made me cry if millie was more convincing of his death I douldve cried but I didnt

What if Billy’s dad Neil becomes a secondary antagonist of season 4 where Max confronts her step-father about abuse he inflicted towards billy as he begins to become beyond overprotective of her & somehow gets involved with the whole upside-down frenzy. That should put the final nail in the coffin for Max breaking the abusive cycle, which was a privilege billy never had.

billy instantly became my favorite character, that father scene broke me cause i was like: you are a grown man you can defend yourself but then i thought no he couldn't fight back because in that moment he probably was a little boy again afraid of his father unable to do anything, his death was heartbreaking he deserved so much more
