I once read a theory were ego had an illness during his time as a football player and was outed by a reporter. This lead to him being dropped from regulars and eventually quit.

In reality, not all prodigies start with big clubs for their first career. Take Haaland and Bellingham for example, they became products of success while playing in mid level or people tend to insult other middle league clubs as farmers leagues. These leagues don’t tend to win competitions, but they produce the best products in terms of improving talent and evolving them into preparing for bigger clubs. Dortmund is an example of that club, even if they don’t win competitions, they do produce the best talents from Robert lewandowski, Christian pulisic Haaland and Bellingham. For instance, if you want the bluelock or Japanese players to exceed expectations in the footballing world, maybe medium clubs are what they need to evolve their talent.
