Restaurants in the United States are screaming for automation, especially in the back kitchen. Nobody wants a low-paying job doing dishes, and nobody wants to cook someone else's food. And finally, restaurant workers don't get the respect from the general public they deserve. Technology like this will enable people to do higher-end tasks, leaving the boring and simple jobs to robotic equipment.
Getting rid of all humans currently working in restaurants, let's face it, why would you want to pay people at this point? These robots are only going to get cheaper.

Robots have a certain precision, it's in the specification. They are not perfect (just in case someone thinks they are). The more joints the more inaccurate they become -- unless you are paying more for higher grade encoders.

Thanks for your question. We didn't hear the exact price, but I remember they said the ice cream robot made by the same company costs 3 million yen (aprox. 30k USD). I imagine each of these robotic arms to be more expensive than that as it's more complicated. I just saw a video where a robot was making burgers. A few days ago people were complaining about the price of burgers, saying it was too expensive. I wonder what happens next?
Hey man. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. That is why Sawanobori-san also said these robots will never replace human workers at restaurants completely 😌 - Yasu
@@JapanGo I believe the robots can reduce the need for workers enough to where higher-quality individuals with better credentials can replace those who are less desirable serving the public. Relieve the suffering of the restaurant industry by reducing the need for human labor, and that can also reduce the labor shortage in other areas such as construction and building maintenance.

This "shortage of workers" thing is a bit of a misnomer that's being tossed around by everyone these days. The truth is we have a shortage of workers that are willing or able to work where they're needed, and quite often this shortage is artificially created by the companies themselves, by not offering a livable wage, decent working conditions, or the needed training. The Earth is still overpopulated and there are plenty of workers out there, but far too many companies still assume their labour will automatically appear if they cry hard enough, instead of doing what it takes to acquire that labour. For what it costs to install 1 robot to do a job, that same money could be spend training a dozen people to do the same job.
While we appreciate your input, it seems you might be generalizing the global labor situation without considering the specific circumstances prevalent in Japan. The labor shortage here is not a "misnomer" but a well-documented issue, primarily driven by an aging population and declining birth rates, not an unwillingness to offer fair wages or conditions. In Japan, these innovations are not a luxury but a necessity to keep industries afloat in the face of a real and significant labor shortage. We encourage a more nuanced understanding of the local context before making broad assertions.
So what do you guys think about food cooked by robots? What could be some good applications for this technology in the future?

Best co-worker ever. Don't have to deal with bad neighbors in the workplace.
Also they can pick up all the low paying jobs no one wants to do.

Being a electrical engineer who took Robotics myself, this was really interesting to see!
Great to hear from an engineer like you 👍 - Yasu
something about the robot dumping the leftover noodles out before the doing the dishes is so heartwarming
I need my own personal ramen making robot.
I need one too 😏 - Yasu

The level of accuracy and precision of the robot according to the implant program is truly amazing.

I see wisdom in this
Guess jobs are safe for a few more years...
Robot can make noodles, see factories. Human however, will remain doing creative part like making new recipes, QC parts.

Ay yo but for real the noodles looking good.
Thanks for the speed of light checking! Yeah, the noodles definitely tasted nice 👍- Yasu

Any information on how I could attend these kinds of expo/conference???
Did they also use robots to make these robots? If so, how were these robot-makers made? Also with robots? Is it like robotception?
Great question. I’ll ask how these robots are made whenever I can 🧐 - Yasu
Are these robots in production now since this video is around 3 years ago ?

All these robots are fading humans out of the equation slowly but surely
Humans are fading themselves out. The trend for population in developed nations is downward.

Wow
The CEO sounds like a kid robot himself.
This cool but what restaurants owner can afford these robots to cook for them
The payback for these robots is usually less than a year. One of these robots is around $30k - $50k to own (depending on the robot version)
