    • @Steve055
      @Steve055 Год назад +58

      Well by gaslighting ChatGPT I was able to get a answer to that question and it is this.
      "Recent research has demonstrated that certain molecules, such as ATP and neurotransmitters, play a critical role in muscle movements during dance performances. Through a series of experiments and observations, researchers have identified specific molecular pathways and signaling mechanisms that contribute to the development and performance of dance moves such as She-Hulk twerking. In addition to these molecular factors, cultural and social factors also play a significant role in the emergence and popularity of particular dance styles and movements. By integrating knowledge from various scientific fields, researchers have shed new light on the complex interplay between biology, culture, and human behavior in the context of dance."
      Hope that helped prove that molecules do explain why she-hulk twerking exists.

    I supported the early access of this game. When the first "story" update came, EVERYONE told the devs that it was a bad idea. Oh, it is. The game tries to present their world as ultraopressionistic capitalistic state, but actually, shipbreaking is SO GOOD and profitable. You get a ton of money every shift (which is 15 minutes A DAY) , have a condo bigger than half of flats in Tokio and treated as a person.
      And their little escapade actually WORKED in the ending.

You can't expect to make a masterpiece on the first go, so, I don't think we should hang them for making a very linear and flat story. I only wish for two things: That they are still interested in making games, and that they take the actual constructive criticisms and learn from it. Who knows? We could be depriving ourselves of a very talented game dev here.

    One thing is that the Byford Dolphin Incident date is wrong. It's supposed to be 5 November 1983 at 4:00 a.m. Sseth's Editor might have just taken a quick glance at Wikipedia & screwed the dates. Same with the Way of the Tard joke. Also, you might have missed the Demon Core joke.
    Edit: The funny thing about the "political" part is that it might have been the reason so much of the game's potential (compared to what it was at Early Access) got screwed. Specifically, due to the devs suddenly being "political" & hindering actual development of the game, for their "story" (if you can call it that).
    One more thing, he fooled ChatGPT into giving him free Adobe Animate.

      Could you elaborate a bit on what sort of potential was at launch versus what we eventually got and how being ‘political’ might’ve screwed it over? I remember buying this day one to support BBI and enjoyed the hell out of it when it first released. Once it dropped out of early access fully, I was surprised at the amount of features that they added and expanded on, but I admittedly hadn’t kept up with any of the community or dev stuff between these two points. What exactly was changed?

    • @ngultrum1
      @ngultrum1 Год назад +12

      @@SultanOfAwesomeness
      A lot of changes are there since Early Access. In Early Access, there were new ships every once in a while, new stuff, some cool lore bits, etc. Then they scrapped it all put in a story mode that is more preachy then a student film & by doing so we are limited to 5-ish ships that are just slightly more complex re-designs of the first 2 ships. Also, whereas the update just prior to the 1st story update, ships felt like puzzles that you could potentially do perfectly if you understood all the quirks. Following the story updates, later ships felt like they were intentionally designed for you to sabotage yourself. Not only that, but the progression system was just awful. Previously, you were incentivized to salvage specific bits of the ship in various quantities, but following the story updates, there's very little reason to not just throw all the processor-able bits in the processor & then dump the entire core of the ship into the barge in one large piece.
      One thing a friend of mine once called out for this was that they had a great menu screen for between shifts. Succinct & responsive. They had a perfectly functional UI HUD that was clear & had most necessary information in a perfectly serviceable place. They replaced the menu with something that takes 5x as long to get through because of diagetic perspective shifting, & every menu accessed like the datalogs or gear purchase/repair is just measurably less charming & more bothersome to go through. The new HUD has some ass-tier fake CRT distortion that makes text illegible in several resolutions, but also shifting a bunch of crucial information gauges to be more out of the way & less readable.
      I can't help but feel that the year+ of dev time they took to do all the story updates could've been budgeted towards having an extra ship class or two, adding multiplayer, traitor system, injury system, crafting system, chat roleplaying, & more importantly, Mod Tools, the devs refused to give workshop support. People have already managed to create new ships without mod tools. This game would have been so much better with workshop support. In fact, & I could be remembering wrong & having a Mandela effect, but IIRC, the devs promised workshop support & full modding support at time of Early Access.
      Now to the story itself, apparently the game didn't even have this story before, it was something about a Space War & you, the shipbreaker, was tasked with cutting up wrecks so they'd burn up in the atmosphere, rather than hitting the planet. Also, with a Machine God plot line, which the AI cores are apparently a part & remnants of the OG story, that never gets resolved. In fact, the old beta version without the story was still accessible for those who preferred it. Then 1.0 kicked in & removed that feature.
      Hell, the game was better in the early access version as a sandbox with no story. When they added it, almost everyone in the community agreed that it was a downgrade to the game, & that it should've just been a backdrop at best or removed entirely. But the devs ignored all feedback if it wasn't supportive of the storyline & did whatever they wanted.

      The world of DE is allegory on our where it's became normalized to be drugged up by Big Pharma and distracted by Mass Media, both of which serve the same masters for the same goal, to imitate normalcy instead of actually being cured and freed from problems.
      So exposure of weaknesses of communism, which was created to combat all that, isn't just for flavour. Stopping with nihilism, fixing the issues and getting yourself free from abusive environment is the proper goal for every modern person just as it is for character of Harry.

    Actually writing a syndicalist uprising in the middle of capitalism can be amazing and fantastic. The dev team of this game already had EVERYTHING they needed to actually make it work. And they just didnt.
    We could have had an entire plot of finding and installing those secret hard drives to spread communications and information between shipbreakers until we were all connected and talking to each other.
    Literally could have had a climax where you finally get a man on the inside who can hook you up with the cloning vats without oversight. Use clones as decoys on the job, while the
    "real" shipbreakers are hiding in an asteroid field and use their tools to hijack a CEO yacht.
    Imagine having the last missions being a "now you have to break down a LIVE ship as fast as possible WITHOUT killing anyone" in order to force the hand of the CEOs responsible for it all.

    I don’t envy anyone who has to do anything involving underwater rig maintenance…they get paid well for a good reason in that the work is so dangerous and the margin for error can be pretty high. I watched a Nexpo video recently where it talked about a group of divers doing maintenance on a pipe in a compression chamber, only for something to go horribly wrong with it. At first I thought the video showed them dying from compression, but I’d argue it was even worse: the pressure released from the pipe actually sucked all the divers into the pipe and down to the ocean floor in complete darkness, with the divers being injured but alive…
    One diver was actually able to make it through a submerged section of the pipe and get to the opening where a rescue team was waiting. However, even though he was saved, the company refused to make any attempts to save the other divers and they were left to die inside the pipe. Its fucking horrifying and I can’t imagine the survivors guilt and ptsd the remaining diver has from it

    I think at 10:30 ish you may be confusing 2 different high-pressure gas phenomena. Disclaimer: not a diver, just watch a lot of the Dive Talk youtube channel. There are 4 main issues with gases when diving, hypoxia, hypercapnia, hyperoxia, and Nitrogen narcosis. The first 2 are reletively normal phenomenon stemming from having too little oxygen and too much carbon dioxide respectively. Hyperoxia is (like the name suggests) too much oxygen. It can cause seizures and shit so it's pretty bad. I think you need a partial pressure of 1.2atm or so for it to be an issue so it doesn't really happen at sea level but you do need to account for it for deep dives. The one i think you were referring to is nitrogen narcosis. As the name suggests, it is caused by excessive partial pressures of nitrogen and causes a narcotic like effect. The urban legend version says some divers become so disoriented they take off their mask and believe they can breathe. Regardless, being fucked up like that in a potentially life threatening situation is suboptimal and is another reason for the mixed gases for extreme depths.
    Anyone who knows better should feel free to let me know what I've misremembered.

    The whole political story hindering the actual gameplay is more ridiculous when you consider that similar games had a similar political messaging without needing such main story. Subnautica has a similar view of megacorporations even though the only (optional) story you have is diving ever deep to find an alien whale

    My problem with his video is twofold. The first is that he lacks a lot of structure in the video. Now this one is far better than most of his stuff by way, but it feels a bit all over the place. Unlike the zany editing of Max0r which tends to be at least a start to finish narrative. My main issue though is that he tends to spoil the entire game, and as far as I can tell he doesn't give any kind of warning. Otherwise yes the videos he makes are entertaining. Funny story. I play this game without the 15 minute time limit, but that means I miss out on like 60% of the story.
