  • Unfortunately, the infamous incident between Graeme Souness and Lica Movila took place off camera. But you can see the result of the Scot's punch from around 6:24 onwards. This was a European Cup semi-final that rapidly got out of hand. In the second leg, Souness was singled out for special attention by the Romanians. He came through it though, producing a man-of-the-match display as Liverpool advanced to the final. The commentator for the first leg was Peter Brackley.

Souness should have received the red card for breaking Movilă's jaw on purpose.
It would have changed everything. Without him, it would have been very difficult,
maybe impossible, for Liverpool to get through to the final.
And that Romanian player, from what I read, had to stay away from the pitch for over a year,
and subsequently he no longer was the player he had been before receiving that punch in the face, thanks to mister Graeme Souness.
So, guys like mister Souness and Harald Schumacher, should have been expelled from football
for at least a few years.
And one more thing: this video shows us only Liverpool, although the Romanian
team outplayed Liverpool many a time during that match.
