- Let's test the arm!
I am attempting to build a working exoskeleton similar to the one shown in Elysium, but instead of CGI... it will work!
Using pneumatic cylinders, an industrial festo valve bank, and a whole bunch of 1" x 1" perforated steel tube, you can watch my progress as I slowly build the coolest thing ever.
Rewatching your old videos in 2020
Cool! First I've ever heard of a valve bank. You've got room on there for the whole exoskeleton. Looking forward to part 4!
I lucked out finding that guy -- It's probably worth $500+ (used in industrial automation), but I found it at a surplus store for $70!
This is so amazing. I love learning how they get put together.
these projects are awesome! This is what I want to do when I'm older :)
Same
I would love to have a bunker under my house with display cases if every thing
Ugh it keeps getting better and better! I need more lol! Can't wait for part 4. I love stuff like this
Can't wait to see the finished project. Keep up the good work.
Hey awesome project, I love this type of work. I was wondering if it would have more lifting force if the bar that the pneumatic cylinder was pushing on were longer and the cylinder in the back. You're designs rock man keep it up!
These are the kind of things I enjoy watching you are doing a really good job don't know why you have that many sub's you deserve well well more keep it up 👍
Why would anyone dislike this awesome video?
Neat arm, contraction force is achieved by the biceps whilst extension forces are achieved with triceps. In this video u r trying 2 curl with the triceps. Not robotically possible, ( biologically maybe ) forearms would need 2 pronate & supanate. Thanks 4 doing these videos, you inspire many kids who want2 start bionics, robotics, etc. Awesome stuff.
Don't you mean not biologically possible...? The pneumatic cylinders can push and pull, unlike muscles which are just capable of pulling (biceps pull to curl the arm, triceps pull to straighten the arm). So mechanically it's already a double advantage!
Thank you!
Mechanism ASMR
This is so awesome!!! I wish I could be like you, I want to be able to make cool things like you, I hope you can finish this of full top body :D
ITS TURNING OUT AMAZING 😍
To be honest that'd be a fun biceps training mechanism, You apply pressure & try lift your arm & cylinder try counteract.
Dude this is like amazing! Keep it going i cant wait for the finished product
What is the kind of connection that is connecting the stick/stroke part to the elbow? Please answer, I know its an old video.
Soooo awesome,i wanna become like you one day :D
That's a huge compliment! Thanks!
That thing is so cool
Yep
Thanks!
the Hacksmith i am so honored that you replied to my comment i am speechless thank you so much for seeing my comment
yea saw em! i saw ever single vdo of yours m thinkin abt makin ua exoskeleton project for my diploma project
I know this video is over a year old, but what was that white stuff you soldered onto the connections?
Its awesome and i hope your channel get more subs
Here we go
Hey I know this might be a weird question but r u going to weaponize the exoskeleton. Oh and are u going to trigger the valve banks and cylinders with your muscle movement? And if yes how? Thanks
First stage will just use switches that trigger based on my arm movement -- down the road I'm hoping to make use of Thalmic Lab's Myo (look it up), I have a buddy who works there...
Which hydraulic you are using?
You could tack weld the edges
hey mr.Hacksmth i was wandering is there any cheaper and non really expensive way to make this
Wish i had those tools.
from the side you look like cptain america
+Hacksmith
Boi, why u always goin for dem biceps lol
On a more serious note, do you think it would be possible to make this more portable (with a smaller valve bank and (possibly) a more portable air compressor that doesn't require plugging into a wall)?
Lastly, do you mind sharing what school you went to for Mech.E? I'm planning on majoring in ME but not sure which school to go to (I live in the U.S. rn but willing to move out of the country)
+jagjit bhatia haha!
Have you watched the Call of Duty exo build logs? We have a much smaller tank and compressor on there.
I have a bachelor's of engineering in mechanical systems -- mostly mechanical, but with a bit of electrical and robotics mixed in.
Engineering's pretty even across the board for schools -- it's what you choose to do with your education that makes the difference.
Cheers!
the Hacksmith Wow....thank you so much for the quick and informative reply! You're truly an inspiration
T braces from t- tech. My company in 2030
hey #theHacksmith , what valve do you use? :)
3/2..5/2? sorry for my bad english.. im italian:)
thanks you :D
3/2
Cool james
Wait is it james?
Do you think you can make a spider-man web shooter?
Maybe!
Cool
the Hacksmith the launcher shouldn't be That hard but the webbing.....Good luck with That! XD but knowing you you would find a way.
This might not be a good formula, but here it is: metallic liquid, alcohol, rubber cement (for strength and elasticity), and some polymorph. (for tuffness)
NICE
how many psi pump did u need for the whole project?
+The Uncanny Nightcrawler watch the rest of the videos, I mention this multiple times ;-)
when you think about it he also has some his own strenghth working whick is a bout a hundred soooo
If you are gonna to do a full exo skeleton I have heaps of design you give you and it would be a good colab vid when my channel starts which in fact should be up to today
2 minutes of credits
are you going to build a whole exoskeleton? or just the arms?
i mean wat was d quantity of d psi
Titanium plate it and add arc welders and u have iron mans arm
About how old where you when you made this??
This is amazing where did you get your valve bank from
Thanks
I found it at a surplus store for $70! They're typically industrial automation equipment -- you can sometimes find them cheap online, but if you were to buy new... it'd probably be close to $500 :\
This is my new channel
wait is this thing actually going to make you stronger or is it just a really sophisticated costume. and if it really works, mind if i use the design to make my own
I plan on being able to curl a 250lb barbell... so...
the Hacksmith curl a 250 lb dumbell? You sure this thing enhance your strength that much?
TheNameIScarl Barbell -- so both arms. And yes. Each arm will be able to do an additional 134lbs at full pressure + my normal curling strength of around 50lbs, so hypohetically could do 368lbs -- but the steel might not be strong enough at that point ;-)
SWEEEEEEET
the Hacksmith Barbell* sorry. Well if u say so.BTW is there a chance that you would sell this stuffs? Or make it by order? thankz for the answer btw.
Contact the people of waterjet channel. I'm sure that they'll let you use thier equipment.
COD advanced warfare haz this
Part 4 plssssssss
have you been thinking about releasing it to the military.
2019 anyone
Think Bigger
Hey can you make some exoskeleton legs for my dad so he can walk easier.
you still have the same laugh
at this point they should have used hydraulic fluid
+Anemos Gaming using what I had...
the Hacksmith if I where you I would have scraped it and made it better if I was actually going to use it for superhuman stuff... so please so a v2 would be exciting to watch
+Anemos Gaming we have done a V2... Try watching my newer videos lol
Rellol pipoll
Que massa
Que massa
Que massa
6
how much? don't care if you're not selling it, how freaking much?
Haha, it's not even done yet!
If this one goes well I want to make the exoloader suit from Alien
Yeah, Lol knew it wasn't ready but still, GIVE MEEEE!!!!!
gab the military already has robot suits . just cost a lot of money and i dont think one can buy one at t his time maybe life lol
