    When I listened to the original version of this song when I was younger, it launched me into uncontrollable tears.
    Ironically I think Toy Story made me sympathise with inanimate objects on a regular basis. Curse you Disney, curse you.

      I think it made me see toys not as inanimate objects, but as living creatures. I'm sure the same happened to many others.

    That is a most enjoyable arrangement. Although it is an exuberant piece you play it with suitable restraint. The bass box on your instrument has a great tonality.

    In your opinion, how difficult is it to learn to play a 5-row chromatic accordion, for someone who has never even touched any kind of accordion?
    Some have suggested I look into a standard piano accordion, but it seems like you have a great deal of versatility with yours.
    Awesome skills you have there, Mr. Olavsky.

    • @itsolavsky
      @itsolavsky  8 лет назад +10

      +Matt Hayes Thanks, it is much easier to understand piano system and find a decent piano accordion. However, button accordion gives you ease of catching complex chords or fast scales, because tones/buttons are condensed in a small area. The sound is practically identical + there are many great piano accordionists (check out Frank Marocco). I think it is really difficult to learn button accordion, especially if you never learned music theory.

      +Matt Hayes What I like about my 5 button row accordeon is the easy it is to transpose music. Just move your fingers to another location and play as if you played the original. Fantastic if you intend to play together with people who sing and need to play the whole song a bit higher or lower. With a piano accordeon, you need years and years of practice to do the same trick.

    I think you are brilliant. I am 37, and am just beginning to study the piano accordion. I love watching all your clips. Because you are talented and make it look so easy. If you have any tips for beginners, i would love to know. I live in the country, in Australia, so i can only get lessons via youtube. Lucky enough i have had keyboard lessons as a kid, so i do know how to read music. Can i ask just one question. Do you practise everyday?

    Can we buy sheet music for your songs anywhere? I would be happy to pay for them! I play the chromatic accordeon myself, and find it hard to find more modern sheet music. Thanks!

    I noticed you use your leg to shift the bellows, is this more a self learned style you have, or is this a specific technique in dynamics.

    • @itsolavsky
      @itsolavsky  7 лет назад +2

      I think it's a mark of many performers, although I never learned it in school. It just makes holding this heavy instrument a little bit easier for the long term.
