Great vid! This is exactly what I wanted to do first, temp hygiene starting out and getting a feel for what I want. I've been a dental assistant for over 10 years and know how it is to stick to one office for years and I definitely want something different when I finish in the next two semester I have remaining. Great to know your dentist backs you up and your decision to send a patient home, those were crazy high numbers. When you get those 45 minutes appointments and you realize it's a heavy patient what do you do in those cases? Reschedule to finish? Also how are you liking your ergoprisms outside of school now? Great content and wish you more success!
Thank you so much for watching the video:) You’ve got a lot of experience then! I love temping with all the lucks that I’ve got to visit awesome dental offices. I’ve had an experience at a different office where the doctor would ask me to continue on seeing the patient even with high numbers, but I would stand strong with my own standard and talk to the dentist. I was very happy that this dentist (in the video) was rescheduling the patient. When I see heavy patients, regardless of how much time I have, I try to finish them within the time that is given. There were times when I was running behind, but still I will finish my patient for that appointment. If they are perio involved + heavy, then I will most likely see what the doctor suggests and work it out (probably do a quad or two and reschedule). And, yes! I love my loupes so much! I don’t suffer with any neck pain, it was a great investment. Hope you have a great year in school, you’ll do great:)
How did your license come so fast?! 😮 also I’d love to hear more in depth about your experience temping straight out of school❤ are you using cloud dentistry?
Normally we gotta mail the application along with all the requirements, but instead, Texas had an expo for dental hygienists! I had to drive down to Austin from Dallas, but sure it was worth it because I got my license on that day. I started temping 5 days a week and it is great (body gets tired). Dallas is in high demand for hygienists right now and you have a lot of opportunities to work around. You’ll be learning different dental softwares, xrays, instruments, and appt styles every time. I am using Cloud dentistry and also a temp agency. I would love to share more if you have any other questions:)

With a temp agency are you required to take the a day or do you pick and choose if you want to do 5x/week??
You are not required to work full 5 days and you can pick the days you want to work for.
