Thanks great footage im from poole which is about 15 miles away from swanage As a family we went to swanage many times in the mid 60s usually on a sunday but as my dad had a car (Austin 1100 ) we always went by car so never got to ride on the wareham to swanage railway Move forward to early 70s when the volenteers started my dad was one of the first to buy shares in them to help them on thier way Finally got to ride on a steam engine on the swanage railway about 20 years back and have been on it mant times since as that scenic route has to be one of the best in dorset for the countryside

Thanks for commenting Nigel and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's great to hear that your Dad bought shares to help getting the railway to Swanage back. No matter what kind of support, big or small, something is always better than nothing. When we stopped at Corfe Castle and went into the museum, they had a video playing about the restoration of the line and how they rebuilt it step by step and it just shows how much effort everyone put into bringing the railway back. It is such a lovely line, the scenery is just fantastic.
Thanks again for commenting Nigel. Have a good day whenever you read this.

A great little railway, but sadly I haven't been there for years - perhaps this summer.. by the way thanks for the video of the model 159. I travel on those quite regularly to Basingstoke / London and reversely to Salisbury and Exeter. I reckon they're the best on BR these days. All modern trains seem to have no lateral dampening this giving a bit of a jerky ride. Thanks again for putting the video up - it's much appreciated by the less mobile of us!

It is a lovely heritage railway. It's only about 8 miles but if they do make the stretch of line to Wareham a permanent schedule then it will make it about 11 miles. No problem about the 159. They are my personal favourite multiple unit which is why I wanted one. Plus NSE is my favourite livery so it was a no brainer. I've only ever gotten to ride them once when I was on holiday in Exmouth last August when we got the train from Exeter back to Exmouth. Thanks for the lovely comment Charles.

@@cameronstrainsadventuresThanks for your quick reply Cameron. I've been collecting models of all my best memories travelling by train, starting with a King Class back in 1959 when I was 5! I don't even have any track to run them on, how sad is that.... There is a model of the the 159 in the new South West trains livery and when I last checked it was only available from Kernow for £475. Whatever a ridiculous price. This is becoming a very expensive hobby, however memories are all we have of our lives.
Again many thanks for your efforts.
      Charles

@@charlesiles6136 Don't even get me started on how ridiculously expensive model railways have become. It is such a shame because i fear one day it will get so expensive that nobody can afford it and the hobby will die.
      Thanks for commenting.
