I have never been successful at growing seeds outside. Secretly I think I'm a bit of a control freak. Whether it's the weather or slugs that seem to give erratic germination or my obsession with taking out weeds as soon as I see seedlings. Also in modules I can plant them exactly where I want them. I have just potted on my Lisis today. I have also sown some quick growing annuals such as Cornflowers, poppies, and nasturtiums. Also I have sown all my beans, courgettes and squashes. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with all I had to do, which is very unusual for me, but I feel more relaxed now I can tick more jobs off my to do list. Beautiful peony cages- they are on my wish list. It was great to be in the garden, in the sunshine. Suddenly it's spring. Thanks for great video Annette. Happy gardening 🙂

Hi Be, thank you, yes, the sun and warmth made all the difference! I'm still sowing seeds, and like you, feel a bit overwhelmed. There just aren't enough hours in the day!!! Once the seedlings are in the ground, I feel I can relax a bit but I always find April/May to be super-busy. But, I wouldn't change it for anything because it brings me so much joy and the dreams of the seasons to come just keep me going. I'm currently researching a pebble stream...watch this space!! 😬🤣🌊

@@cottoverdi Pph, that sounds interesting. Can't wait to watch. Lots of gardening goodies arrived in the post today, from cell trays and gravel trays to a cordless strimmer ans a pink Hemerocallis to add to my collection. It's an unamed variety, sadly. Happy gardening 🙂

Pot on the lisianthus. In a bigger pot they will start to double in size every week. Don’t give up! I sowed mine February 10 and potted up a month ago.

Good morning Annette, Richard and Cosmos, I’m so glad you are going to save some of the Lisianthus plants. They are one of my favourite flowers and I wished I lived near you, so I could ask for your discarded seedlings. It’s been extremely windy here in the North East (Thornaby, Stockton on Tees) and I too am separating seedlings today. Not doing any gardening because I have a chest infection and fighting the wind to breathe is not fun. A couple of weeks ago I also found vine weevil grubs and squashed them. I am enjoying watching your videos and tend to watch RUclips on my TV. I do press the like 👍 on the tv 📺, so I hope that registers with your channel. Have a wonderful day and see you in your next video and I can’t wait to get into my garden because I need to take care and repot my DA Harlow Carr rose…..definitely wearing leather gloves for this rose plant.

Hi Susie, I wish I could've given yo those seedlings - it was such a shame to bin them but none of my friends have the patience to grow anything from seed ! Sorry to hear about your chest infection - I hope you'll feel well enough to get in to the garden this weekend.
Yes, Harlow Carr is so thorny but I love the scent - intoxicating 😊
Thanks for watching - it means so much to me. 💚😁

Your lizzys are fine. They take a long time to size up and require much patience which is why most people fail from seed. If it helps, mine were started in November and planted out at maybe 1 inch in early March (Southern California). Our days are 75-80 degrees now and they have just begun to put on height (@2-3 inches) with the warmer sunlight.

love your joyful energy, gets me smiling :) watching you all the way from Canada, I live in the Laurentians Mont-Tremblant, zone 4b. We have a much shorter growing season 110days, but I starting growing lots of flowers from seeds last year, and had great results. I doubled my planning on the seeds selection this year, added foxglove Pam's choice, can't wait to see the results. Your channel is a true inspiration for me.

Hi, it is Good Friday in Greece today and they are playing Adagio of Albinoni in Corfu town from around 5pm till late evening while all the epitaphs are out.
They also play Rodrigo, Adagio de Aranjuez. All the big lights at the Liston have turned purple.
At around 12 am on Good Friday, when hhry bring Jesus body from thd cross down and into the epitaph table, it goes cloudy. It is an unexplained phenomenon but all my life it has very rarely not happened.
It is 9.20 am and although it was sunny, now clouds have already gathered.

Thank you for potting up the lisianthus, for all of us who can just dream about, getting them to grow to that size! 😄 Could you actually just plant them in the garden directly or do you have such a slug-pressure that, it isn't an option? 🤔
    Greetings, Judit

🤣 Happy to do it...I will enjoy watching them grow. No, I think they were way too small to go straight out - they would've been munched immediately!

Those snapdragons look so pretty! I've just bought some. Do you think I'm too late for this year? Xx

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  3 месяца назад +1

Hi there, yes, it's probably too late for this year. Snaps can take 120 days from seed sowing to flowering - so you might not get any flowers until 29th August. Also, snaps really like germinating when the weather is cooler - so this depends on your climate. You can definitely sow them in the fall for early blooms next year though. 😊

Oh no, the vine weevil larves!! The second before you found them, I just told my husband I think that thick layer of grout would keep them off the soil! So it doesn't? Or wasn't thick enough in that long pot, what do you think about that idea? Yesterday I just thrashed a whole pot of soil, which was full of them 😭...
I will look at the Nematodes..
    Greetings, Judit

Do the strawflowers come true to colour? If you pick seed from peach flower will the seeds produce peach plants?

Hi Diane, to be honest, I don't know, I've never tried sowing saved seed before but I've seen so many people doing this that I thought I'd give it a try - I will let you know so do follow along to keep updated 😊
