Imagine the cops being called on moon for some noise complaint during the time he was building juka and they open the garage to see all the bones on the floor. And they're like "NOPE fuck it, I choose life!" 🤣
They'd probably have the same reaction when the police were called into HR Giger's bedroom in his studio in Switzerland when his first girlfriend (as she was suffering from depression and a real messed up life philosophy of "live hard, die young") ate the barrel of a pistol she used while he was away. Then again those were the very early 70s over 50 years ago. I'm sure the police in Japan have most likely seen everything and are open-minded. Pop culture has come a long way in the public eye. Especially since Japan is anime central.
If he was in America, Moon would have a file already, mainly because cops would prioritize detainment first and questions later, probably asking where Moon got those bones and would search his entire complex for any dead bodies. American cops really don't believe in context until after the fact, only in containing potential threats on sight.
I love how - in the animations she's in - Juka seems to be this neutral character. She doesn't seem to like or hate anyone but she's willing to make pink armor if they ask.

Hey Moon, as a fellow custom figure, doll, and model creator I just want to say that this sort of video means a lot to me. For as long as I can remember I've repeatedly drawn and iterated on certain characters I made when I was younger, and I always dreamed of making them into something physical. And while I was no stranger to sprucing up dolls, models, and figures to suit my preferences I never really knew just what was necessary to bring my personal characters to life. But, like you, I randomly witnessed some techniques (from a Japanese model maker's RUclips channel) that inspired me to try them out. From there it was like the fog that had been surrounding my creativity for years finally lifted and technique after technique, tool after tool fell into place. I'm still sloooooowly making my way through things, but it's been absolutely majestic knowing that I can finally materialize the designs that've been in my head since childhood without needing some overly expensive services or individuals to help me do it. Hilariously enough the video that set this all off for me was one randomly recommended by RUclips after watching one of your videos a year and a half ago.
@@alessiobilleci7246 I wouldn't mind doing that. I actually used to have a hobby channel years ago that did pretty well. Unfortunately I no longer have anything that can take proper video. I ended up quitting making videos some 8 or so years ago now and have long since gotten rid of any equipment I had for it. So I'd have to get that again. People in various model-related communities I'm a part of have been increasingly telling me I should make videos again though, so I just might reinvest in everything once more.
@loli-knightxardej2252 I say go for it(no pressure ofc). Customizing models/dolls/figures is one of the coolest things ever, and if you're enjoying yourself, it's even cooler!
I love how the vibes went from "Cook book recipe backstory" to "Tony Stark building the first Iron Man suit."😄I had been quite curious about JUKA ever since she first appeared, so this video immediately had me exited. Love seeing characters coming together and becoming real, and you really made something awesome! Keep it up!
Sooo basically juka is like ur first daughter creation. You made her in paper then you have this idea to put her in real life and you did it. It amazing how you built her for so many years.
As the guy who turned all 150 of the original pokemon into Lovecraftian Monsters, I love this journey for you. I love good monsters, especially those that can be reasoned with.
It's honestly insanely cool seeing something that goes as far back as childhood stick with someone well into adulthood evolving along with them. It makes juka really special and stand out even more so while also maintaining that sense of mystery all the same
Holy shit 🤯, I knew she was an impressively big girl, but the context of her origins makes her mass and your talents all the more impressive, thanks for sharing this Moon 😤👍.
Man, you were and are an amazing artist. Such an interesting backstory for junka and your own story. Can't wait to see what's next and maybe more videos on what inspired certain characters from the shrapnel-vers
It's so great seeing her progress, I loved seeing you post about her, she's absolutely creepy and just amazing, can't wait to see her in more animations!
"And ever since then, I've had nothing but fascination to the creatures of this world that the average person would consider ugly or disgusting" I understand that feeling, it's fun when you share a fact about those creatures and people feel kinda disgusted.
Hearing all that story was moving and strangely I don't know why now I can't stop comparing you to dr. Frankenstein, but hey your work is too amazing and I hope you keep bringing crazy things like Juka.
Jukas an amazing charecter from her backstory and all of the mystery of her never being seen to actually seeing her and what she does to people I can’t wait to see her again
Seriously Moon you are one amazing dude. It was nice seeing a bit about your past, and a lot of the older art of Juka was very nice. The artists you work with are nice.
This is why stopmotion is the best form of animation. You get to interact with figures you make directly rather than digitally. Sure it’s time consuming but it’s quite fun really. I used stopmotion for my animation thesis and, even though I encountered a lot of issues (mostly editing issues), it was fun to make the figures and puppets come to life through stopmotion.
I love the backstory, and also with the art design in 2:37 of Juka having a snake tail, she literally reminds me of the Seamstress from 9(Movie by Shane Acker)
Juka is one in any video that always gave me literally chills. Just because how huge and quiet she is. Also really a favorite of mine as well. I just love a woman that could kill me in the palm of her hand... Go ahead, tell me another wise.
I’ve always wondered about her, and now I’m loving her even more than I already did! I’m glad you got to make your girl, it’s inspiring me to make my own characters.
Dude, imagine the choir leader finding that drawing of Juka on the back of your music sheet. They'd probably think you're possessed by the devil or something. XD
I live here in Brazil, we don't have many national channels of this style around here, I met yours a while ago and I'm loving every video released. Congratulations !!! 🇧🇷
There is something straight up amazing about seeing this beautiful masterpiece be created. Moon, you take the term "scratchbuilding" to a whole new level, and its glorious
Really enjoyed this look into Juka's history and development. Since she is almost always wrapped in shadow, I had no idea just how huge she really is :o Amazing stuff, Moon.
Fucking awe inspiring. As an aspiring stop motion animator I just can’t begin to state how much of an inspiration you are to me moon. All of your works and series have really made me want to animate something of your quality man, it’s fucking amazing the shit that you’re able to do and accomplish, especially in such a fast manor too. Thank you so much for all that you do moon, and please keep up with your works. I’m super fucking excited to see what you do in the future
Quite astonished how Juka was inspired from the various fascinating creatures Earth has but also the childhood memory of when you held an octopus. Development takes a long time of course so no one should blame you for having Juka be stuck in production hell
Moon, you are an inspiration~!!! I'm so happy to see you making Juka finally come to life like this! AAAA She's so cool!!! (P.S. love Laika, Kubo and the Two Strings is an underrated film~)
I swear, this video is the only time I've ever been able to see Juka in all her majesty. In every other video Moon makes, she's so massive that all we ever see are her tendrils.

It warms my soul hearing of your beginnings and the inspirations that brought you to where you are now. Knowing that those same inspirations gave new life to the eldritch sea beauty that is Juka truly is amazing.
Really cool story for a really cool character! And I kinda relate to it too. While alas I cannot draw or properly visualize my imagination artistically (A limitation I find endlessly infuriating), I can fortunately wright and world build fairly well (They’re my main hobbies), and I can put that curiosity to use there. Your stop motion animations and the worlds within them (In particular a Side Of Shrapnel and Off The Grid, my two favorites) have always been a massive inspiration for me, especially the monsters and places. I find it interesting that for some reason we really seem to share a lot of the same interests in the creative process, such as what I like to call “Beautiful-Abominations” or “Beautiful-Monsters”, like from Bloodborne, which you seemed to enjoy.
