Thanks for stopping in to check out the reviews as always! I always wanted a filmation Mer-Man in the vintage line as a kid. Now we finnally get one for the Origins with the newer articulation and sculpts that is much better than what the vintage line would have done in the day. I also think his design came out really cool.👍
Great review as always!! At first i wasn't really wanting another Motu filmation since I have the super 7 Filmation figures and only want to collect Origins but , these are really nice and you have to love the card art packaging too. I'm all in lol
Thanks for taking the time to check out the reviews as always! This cartoon line was another series like the Turtles of Grayskull that I also wasn't sure if i would get into. I also have most of the classics and the Super7 filmation figures. But they feel like the cartoon inspired toys that should have been the vintage figures when we were kids watching that animation in the day.
I really thought mattel should've given his famous Cobb sword as well. This mer man version looks good. The weapon from the episode search for the vho would have worked too. I am liking this 80's line. Good video sir.
Thanks for stopping in to check out the review! Guess Mattel figured that The Vintage inspired and LOP Mer-Man figures already come with the Bone sword and its not normaly seen in the animation with Mer-Man. I think given him that Trident was a good move and something unique. You can always add the Cobb sword from another Mer-Man figure like I showed.👍
I also was really excited to get this Cartoon Mer-Man figure in hand. Mer-Man was also one of my favorite villians in the filmation. It's awesome to see this figure as part of the cartoon collection now. I can see getting two for customs! Thanks for watching as always 👍
Thanks for stopping in to check out the review and sharing your toy haul updates! I think this Mer-Man has a really fun design for the Cartoon series and looks good in the collection with the other figures 👍
Hey there! I’m glad you showed comparisons to the Lords of Power Mer-Man (which was Wave 5, by the way). The heads on both that and the Cartoon Collection Mer-Man are a bit closer to the original concept art, but I think I still like the LoP version the best. As for this version, it does look like the original cartoon, there’s no mistaking it…but something seems a bit off about it. In several instances with the Cartoon Collection so far, the head and face sculpts just seem to be missing something. Like, for example, Teela looks awesome and it translates incredibly well to figure form, but this one not as much. Not sure how to describe it. The Classics figures definitely had the likenesses down to a T. Maybe it’s the scale difference, those were 7” and these are 6”? And again, the episode-specific props just feel so unnecessary and sort of feel like they’re “padding” these new figures with extra stuff, it seems. Great review as always! ~Damon
Thanks for watching as always Damon! Yeah these figures aren't perfect to the animation even though they are marketed as the cartoon collection. The Classics would be more accurate as you mentioned. I think for what the Origins is trying to do with the cartoon concepts but yet mixing that with Vintage inspired asthetics like the Origins are doing with the figures do look good for the most part. The colors are also off a bit from the cartoon. I think it has something to do with the color plastics they use from the mold injection machine instead of paint for the body. Aside from that. I think they all have been a decent design for Origins as cartoon variants. Teela definitely looks the best in that series 👍
I was wondering if the masterverse and origins parts with swap. I knew you would be on top of this which is why I love your channel. You always seem to answer my questions without needing to ask 👍
I appreciate your support and hearing your comments as always! Yeah, I try to do as much as I can or I think might be interesting with certain parts swapping and combinations of figures. I can't always get to everything, and as more core figures keep coming out for the Origins and Masterverse lines. I have to make certain decisions on what's important and might be the most common part or head tried on another version of that character or figure because the videos are becoming very long and difficult to put together with all the parts swapping within a review. But im glad this video helped you answer your question 👍
Wow, it looks very cool. When I was a kid, Mer-Man was one of those few MOTU figures that I always liked but never ended up owning. Even then, it was a bit strange that the appearance of the figure did not match the one in the cartoon (there were a few of those), although I remember that it resembled the one in the mini comic book that came with the figures. I really liked the Super 7 Mer-Man figure and I was sorry that the MOTU Origins version was not the same concept but this one is perfect.
Thanks for checking out my review and sharing your thoughts! Mer-Man was the second figure that I remember getting in the vintage line as a kid. Whiplash was the first! I also thought it was strange that the toy looked different from the comic or animation then. But 40 years later, I now understand why there were differences between the figures, comic images, or animation looks. The Super7 Classics Cartoon Mer-Man is a cool figure. But I think this Cartoon Mer-Man looks great for what the Origins are trying to do with animation figures in this line. I'm glad you also like the overall design of this figure!👍
@@Themanchlid Thanks for sharing your experience. I didn't own the Whiplash but I played with it because at that time (second half of the 80s) these were popular stuff and if I didn't have a specific MOTU figure, the neighbor or someone at school definitely had it. :) There were a lot of toys at the time that are considered treasures today see MOTU, MASK, Transformers, etc. Unfortunately, in my case, as we grew up, we gave away many old toys and some were simply lost over the years. I obviously regret it now. Edit: My first MOTU was Thunder Punch He-Man! I didn't even know at that moment how cool that was. :)
@@Themanchlid I’m headed out today to all the targets, Walmarts, & Ross in my area. I’m hoping to at least find skeletor. It may be my favorite skeletor so far at least the head sculpt.
@@M_of_the_U Good luck with you're toy hunts. I'm not sure if these cartoon figures have even been found in retail yet. Most people including myself are buying these online.
I picked my all the Cartoon figs so far. Waiting on Mer-man and Stratos to hit BBTS. Nothing yet. This Mer-man rocks. Yeah i thought beastman color was off...But still a great figure. 👍 excellent review as always brotha. 👏
Congrats on picking those cartoon figures up, bro! I really like this line. Yeah, the colors are off or a little different from the animation for some reason. But they still look good. Mer-Man and Stratos should be available for preorder on BBTS soon!👍
The pearl is an interesting accessory. But it t's falls easy out of his hand and definitely not safe for small children. There are minimum age requirements on the packaging of these figures. Thanks for watching ✌️
It came out on pre-order on BBTS, got mine a couple days ago, there was still collector grade option - which is currently sold-out - but the figure is still available
Thanks for watching and great, Pick up on this figure. Yeah, this Mer-Man wasn't available on BBTS during the time I made this video. I knew he would that the preorder would be up sooner or later. This is definitely one of the coolest looking filmation figures in the line, I can see why the orders sold out!
@@Themanchlid It’s wild because I had already decided from the start of the cartoon line that, just for the amazing card packaging, I would get only one figure from the line. And I chose Mer-Man! I will be using the trident spear for my origins vintage figure, which is my main collection, as that was a big decision maker for me as well. It’s the only part from the series that I must have. In the end I’m also glad to celebrate the cartoon (I grew up on) with one of my favorite figures.
@Collector_Phil I think most collectors who started collecting the Origins, including myself, are out to complete the vintage inspired figures that Mattel did make a promise to finish up last year and will only be sold at Mattel Creations. However, now we have gotten other sub lines like the turtles and cartoon line that many people really like or wanted mixed with The Origins or don't like those lines at all. Many people like yourself might cherry-pick a figure or so from those lines because of the art, accessories, or nastalgia from the animation or Ninja Turtles franchise that is now part of the Motu Origins universe. It's what you want and works best for your collection, space, budget, and interest!👌
Thanks for checking out the review. This Cartoon Mer-Man Figure is definitely one of my favorites now in the line. I also think this Cartoon sub line is awesome 👍
