Although I don’t hate the ending even with how dumb it’s writing and scenarios are, I can feel your emotions of rage, I personally can’t do anything but accept the ending at this point, I don’t believe Eren’s character was exactly assassinated in my personal opinion because I have seen him as a kind of a dumb hard headed idiot who makes poor decisions but there are too many plot holes and a lot of dumb scenes, I had defended the ending somewhat at first but it just doesn’t feel natural, still gonna love AOT forever but idk if I want to watch an anime where the author makes the whole story from start to finish again but it was quite the ride in my opinion. The ending does feel forced as you said but oh well, head cannons are all I can use to make it feel a bit better but all of the lore about eldians and the history of the world that had been built being controlled by Eren and Eren killing his own mother is probably something that was originally planned in my opinion, but the bad writing just feels rushed and I’m sure it was.
I still can't understand that the majority liked it. At the end the only thing this fandom cares about are the ships and their fav characters being alive

And then in the final chapters they tease several times like mikasa leaving the scarf, armin telling mikasa to make a decision for herself, annie asking over and over if shes prepared to kill eren, which to ME was building up to mikasa detaching her purpose from eren and finding her own independent purpose/motivation/goal, but no! she puts the scarf back on and finishes off the series still tied to eren, killing him because its his plan and what he wants. and the only over scene of her is sitting alone by his grave talking about how she misses him still wearing the mfing scarf. She doesnt have to become a heartless asshole who suddenly hates eren and immediately forgets him when he dies, but i am BEGGINGGG her to make one (1) decision for herself that only has to do with her and what she wants ,and that doesnt have to with being erens mom. PLEASEEE.

Don't forget the whole Louise story: Mikasa saved her, she became obsessed with her, she wants her scarf since EREN HIMSELF said to throw it away. But no, let's grab the scarf back from the dying girl. Maybe we should've seen it coming since that chapter. I still had some hope after that, though, since it was like... 10 chapter ago? Enough for her development, but no, once again.

Because that one person is the only family she has remaining, and almost lost him many times. The fact she kills eren even after keeping the scarf shows that she can make strong decision as the same time, while still remembering eren. She had punched eren in the past for insulting Armin as well.

I am not a big fan of this ending but, OK, Isayama once said that Eren sees Mikasa as a mother figure, but later eren understood that mikasa would sacrifice a lot of things for him, his perspective changed. The problem about this chapter was the dialogues. Bruh have you forgotten that he once said *I am not your son or little brother* ??? You won't say those things if you see your friend AS A MOTHER. Eren should have just said "I have always loved her", not "mikasa finding another man NOOOOOO!!"

The ENTIRE time traveling part of the story makes absolutely zero sense. Of course it is fiction, but in no explainable way possible, could have Eren achieved any of this within his original future. Since his father originally wouldn't have kill the Fritz family, and thus got killed by them (They were about to kill him when he cried on his knees, obviously they wouldn't have let him run). Thus the Attack Titan would have never been able to get into Eren's hands in first place. So there would be no woke Eren that could have send memories back to the past. This whole thing is called casual loop and to me this is cheap writing. But all the bandwagoners ofc telling me "Well there is no past and future, no beginning and end" What are you talking about?... Then the decision making of literally everyone was absolutely borderline stupid. Paradis was in the process of being GENOCIDED for like 100 years. Fellow innocent people (including CHILDREN as Krüger said) were executed and turned into monsters in order to attack paradis and eat the people there alive. Not to mention how they put Eldians WORLDWIDE into zones. I mean the guy who let Grishas sister be eaten by dogs was even promoted later in his career. But what does Hanji and the gang decided to do? They go against Eren... (Keep in mind, they had no PLAN B! The entire world was about to unleash their fury on Paradis, no diplomacy was working) Yes Eren's plan was equally cruel, but you had logically no alternative plan. Imagine in WW2. A jew rises up (Eren) and has the ability to KILL all Germans with 1 fingersnap. ... But then fellow jews (who lost family members and friends in the most brutal ways) decide to stop him, without having an alternate plan. This is terrible writing. Out of nowhere everyone can teleport. Hanji and Levi find Pieck and Magath somewhere randomely in the wilderness to propose a plan. Everyone (Jean, Armin, Connie, etc.) gets on board with this dumbass suicidal plan, because Hanji is angrily hitting the table while shouting "NO TO GENOCIDE!" No rules of the show were followed anymore. Throughout S1-S3 even a handful of mindless Titans gave them all trouble. Here they are, facing a DEMI GOD in Eren with like a million Colossal titans INCLUDING ALL SHIFTER TITANS THROUGHOUT THE HISTORY of their dumbass world. But yeah hey, they won, GG EZ. Well. And all in all it turns out to be a corny, cringeworthy love story. Ymir, who got rap*d, her family killed, her tongue cut out, hunted down with arrows, abused as a warmachine... .. fell in love. I agree so much with all your points, most people claim that the story was flawless before the ending but personally I found that the series started going downhill after the timeskip. All the character development from previous arcs were gone to waste, at least Eren's character got better but even that was destroyed by the ending. I couldn't care less about the new characters introduced from Marley. I'm so utterly disappointed, now it feels like there's absolutely no point to the story whatsoever.

Isayama had the chance to create something _so_ symbolic if Eren was the father of Historia’s baby. I saw soooo many comments and awesome reasonings for how Eren is the father. It would have been such a beautiful ending to the story if that was revealed/were the case. This is a comment I found in a video that I screenshot because they explained it very well: “You don’t even need shipping reasons to say Eren is the dad of Historia’s child. Eren has always preached about being born free, yet he knows that he himself wasn’t free the moment Carla gave birth to him. It would be poetic for HIS child, his own flesh and blood, a part of him, to be born in a world that is finally free of hatred and free from the burden of [royal] children eating their parents.” This is definitely the thing that I am most upset about with Attack on Titan’s ending. Also keep in mind that Isayama revealed the final panel years ago, but he didn’t go through with it (being the actual last panel). Maybe Isayama could have made that panel about Eren imagining himself (maybe on his deathbed) with his child that he could never be with, telling them “you are free”, the symbolism meaning a new step forward for his people’s future (as well as the comment above). This is just my opinion and is specific, but I think this would have been a more fitting finale.
Eren and Historia relationship is not just for the ship tho I prefer it compare any other ship because it's fit to the story line and Eren have so much common with Historia, they both kill they own father, they both saw their mother death in front of them and many more, at least Erehisu is not ruining the character writing

This psychological connection develops over the course of the days, weeks, months, or even years of captivity or abuse. Also happens to fix plot holes and ignore plot points that she literally wanted to die so she didn't regenerate and we didn't even see her happy or show that she loves him. I thought that all implies that she hated him but I guess we can all just throw that out and say its stockholm syndrome

Yeah, this is why I stopped reading or watching stuff until it's completed cause I have been hurt way too much in the past by cancelled and/or poorly written and rushed endings. he was definitely changing the end for a number of reasons. 1-the baby of Historia is born just like this without reason 2- The worm just gone without explantion or the reason for its disappearance if it was due to the death of the founding giant, the founding were died more than once and the cures did not end. 3- The war is still going on 4- eren, who was trying to do the rumbling to the people of the island, did not know why he wanted to activate the rumbling. Now it is also kind of a mist: Eren almost finished his idea, but he was mentally weak for that and he is led by some "destiny", so he let himself be defeated earlier, and by the way Ymir satisfied her fetish, managed to remove the curse, but because of this, the cycle of hatred was not finally ended, which somehow wasted all of the human sacrifices (in rumbling and before), so Eren ended up unsatisfied and broken.
I've been saying Mikasa was very underdeveloped from the start ppl only like her cause she is a mary sue. When ppl say they want a strong female character. I would think they would mean a well rounded female character strong in characterization having her own will, her own goals, her own personality outside of the male character. Mikasa is not anything revolutionary like some of her fans try to make her out to be she is literally Sakura 2.0 except with Naruto strength. And it hurts soooo much progression to put Mikasa as some sort example of how female characters should be. Mikasa character suffered so much she was bland and hand an unhealthy Eren obsession till the very end. I struggle to even call it love cause the way she acted didn't feel like real love it felt like infatuation. And I agree with you Eren literally never showed romantic interest in Mikasa in the manga. If Isayama wanted to make them lovers I would be fine with that but got damn do it in a way that makes sense! How hard could it have been to have Eren show a bit of romantic interest in Mikasa give us something damn!! Back when I was anime only I actually did ship the 2 but reading the manga later there isn't anything romantic between them in it so of course I let the thought go since the author wasn't even trying to link them romantically it was always so one sided to the point was straight up abusive to the girl ranting about how he felt smothered by her presence. How he gonna have him tell Armin he loved her in the end this ole bullshit! Bitch if you loved her why didn't you show some sign! Does Isayama not realize how difficult it is for a man to hide when he likes let a lone is in love with a woman especially a teenage boy! If Eren really felt like that about Mikasa we should've seen multiple instances of it. And for ppl who bring up 123 the fact that, that is the only instance anybody can speculate on just further proves how terrible Isayama is with romantic implications. For one the whole thing was ambiguous as fuck. Eren ask Mikasa how she feels about him but doesn't say shit about how he feels not to mention his dead pan expression during the conversation while she was blushing. It just feels like the man doesn't even understand his own characters. Like a man who fathers children but has no idea what their interests are & just wrongly assumes.

I would've been fine with Eren having an emotional outburst at the end when he was literally about to die if it was over something that actually made sense instead of these random feelings for Mikasa that came out of left field. Like him grieving over having to kill so many innocent people and leave his friends behind. Eren had to die in the end but Isayama did not need to assassinate this guy the way he did. Pre 139 Eren is still one if my favorite characters ever and that's how I'll choose to remember him. I'll be passing on the anime until I hear if it gets an original ending or not.
God, thank you for commenting on how corny Levi's ending was. I've seen a lot of criticisim of this chapter and agreed with the vast majority, if not all of it, but I hadn't seen anyone talk about that yet. I saw a lot of people say that Levi's character was the only one that didn't get destroyed, and sure, nothing that would make his character bad in retrospect happened (which is more than we can say for characters like Eren, Reiner, Annie, etc. whose entire personality and motives throught the story got shat on by this ending), but still... was this a good ending for him? Levi lost everything that mattered to him and accomplished what a lot of us thought would be his end goal, killing Zeke, and then he just gets to live? In a world were all his friends are long dead? And a lot of his fans were HAPPY ABOUT IT? I'm honestly convinced that Levi was supposed to die, maybe even without fulfilling his promise to Erwin (because Zeke reviving only so Levi could kill him felt kind of forced), but Isayama changed it to make his fans happy. Guess you can't give your star character a "sad ending", even if that ending would be way better than getting to live in a half-destroyed world surrounded by a bunch of morons. Is getting a "good closure" really worth it if you're left with absolutely nothing afterwards? And it's crazy that this is just one of the ending's smallest problems xD
Levi ended up becoming physically handicapped and wheelchair bound for the rest of his days while everyone he has ever cared about is dead and gone. I used to want Levi to live until the very end of the series but ever since he lost Hanji I changed my mind. He would be better off being with all of them instead of living in a world that has nothing for him. Levi literally had NOTHING left.

Although I don’t hate the ending even with how dumb it’s writing and scenarios are, I can feel your emotions of rage, I personally can’t do anything but accept the ending at this point, I don’t believe Eren’s character was exactly assassinated in my personal opinion because I have seen him as a kind of a dumb hard headed idiot who makes poor decisions but there are too many plot holes and a lot of dumb scenes, I had defended the ending somewhat at first but it just doesn’t feel natural, still gonna love AOT forever but idk if I want to watch an anime where the author makes the whole story from start to finish again but it was quite the ride in my opinion.
The ending does feel forced as you said but oh well, head cannons are all I can use to make it feel a bit better but all of the lore about eldians and the history of the world that had been built being controlled by Eren and Eren killing his own mother is probably something that was originally planned in my opinion, but the bad writing just feels rushed and I’m sure it was.

And then in the final chapters they tease several times like mikasa leaving the scarf, armin telling mikasa to make a decision for herself, annie asking over and over if shes prepared to kill eren, which to ME was building up to mikasa detaching her purpose from eren and finding her own independent purpose/motivation/goal, but no! she puts the scarf back on and finishes off the series still tied to eren, killing him because its his plan and what he wants. and the only over scene of her is sitting alone by his grave talking about how she misses him still wearing the mfing scarf. She doesnt have to become a heartless asshole who suddenly hates eren and immediately forgets him when he dies, but i am BEGGINGGG her to make one (1) decision for herself that only has to do with her and what she wants ,and that doesnt have to with being erens mom. PLEASEEE.
Don't forget the whole Louise story: Mikasa saved her, she became obsessed with her, she wants her scarf since EREN HIMSELF said to throw it away.

The ENTIRE time traveling part of the story makes absolutely zero sense.
Of course it is fiction, but in no explainable way possible, could have Eren achieved any of this within his original future. Since his father originally wouldn't have kill the Fritz family, and thus got killed by them (They were about to kill him when he cried on his knees, obviously they wouldn't have let him run). Thus the Attack Titan would have never been able to get into Eren's hands in first place. So there would be no woke Eren that could have send memories back to the past.
This whole thing is called casual loop and to me this is cheap writing. But all the bandwagoners ofc telling me "Well there is no past and future, no beginning and end" What are you talking about?...
Then the decision making of literally everyone was absolutely borderline stupid.
Paradis was in the process of being GENOCIDED for like 100 years. I agree so much with all your points, most people claim that the story was flawless before the ending but personally I found that the series started going downhill after the timeskip. All the character development from previous arcs were gone to waste, at least Eren's character got better but even that was destroyed by the ending. I couldn't care less about the new characters introduced from Marley. I'm so utterly disappointed, now it feels like there's absolutely no point to the story whatsoever.

Isayama had the chance to create something _so_ symbolic if Eren was the father of Historia’s baby. I saw soooo many comments and awesome reasonings for how Eren is the father. It would have been such a beautiful ending to the story if that was revealed/were the case.
This is a comment I found in a video that I screenshot because they explained it very well:
“You don’t even need shipping reasons to say Eren is the dad of Historia’s child. Eren has always preached about being born free, yet he knows that he himself wasn’t free the moment Carla gave birth to him. It would be poetic for HIS child, his own flesh and blood, a part of him, to be born in a world that is finally free of hatred and free from the burden of [royal] children eating their parents.”
This is definitely the thing that I am most upset about with Attack on Titan’s ending. Also keep in mind that Isayama revealed the final panel years ago, but he didn’t go through with it (being the actual last panel).
Maybe Isayama could have made that panel about Eren imagining himself (maybe on his deathbed) with his child that he could never be with, telling them “you are free”, the symbolism meaning a new step forward for his people’s future (as well as the comment above). This is just my opinion and is specific, but I think this would have been a more fitting finale.
Eren and Historia relationship is not just for the ship tho I prefer it compare any other ship because it's fit to the story line and Eren have so much common with Historia, they both kill they own father, they both saw their mother death in front of them and many more, at least Erehisu is not ruining the character writing

I would respect this ending if it weren’t for the fact that isayama dislikes the code geass ending and thinks it’s to idealistic which this ending IS EXACTLY THAT. Isayama wanted too kill everybody (which was his original ending according to interviews) this seems like isayama sticking his middle finger to his editors/kodansha because they wouldn’t allow it. This is what I believe 100% and you couldn’t convince me otherwise.

The sad thing is that the farmer legit threw rocks at historia when she was a kid. Isayama turned all of his female characters to shit. All of them were reduced to shitty flat characters that ended with a shitty love story (Mikasa learning to let go of Eren yet doing not but sulking over his grave for three years, Ymir’s Stockholm syndrome and being in love with a rapist, Historia falling in love with a bitch bully, etc) and it really doesn’t connect with a female audience (at least me idk). you put my feelings into words and reactions perfectly. 😭 i was soo upset after reading chapter 139. i was in denial for quite some time, i was so heartbroken i didn't think i'd be able to move on for a while. i'm upset at how tone-deaf this entire chapter was. eren's character got massacred. reiner's character conclusion was that he was just a simp. historia's baby ended being a red herring that had no contribution to the conclusion whatsoever... i'm sad. it really made me feel like i got invested for nothing given this laughably bad ending... but it makes me feel a little better at least to see a lot of people share this sentiment with me. some jokes about the chapter made me laugh, and your review too made me laugh incredibly hard at various points. like that part where you said eren and mikasa didn't have a lot in common to have a foundation for a romantic relationship... that one of their similarities is that they have black hair... lmfaoo 😭

Now it is also kind of a mist: Eren almost finished his idea, but he was mentally weak for that and he is led by some "destiny", so he let himself be defeated earlier, and by the way Ymir satisfied her fetish, managed to remove the curse, but because of this, the cycle of hatred was not finally ended, which somehow wasted all of the human sacrifices (in rumbling and before), so Eren ended up unsatisfied and broken.

I've been saying Mikasa was very underdeveloped from the start ppl only like her cause she is a mary sue. When ppl say they want a strong female character. I would think they would mean a well rounded female character strong in characterization having her own will, her own goals, her own personality outside of the male character. Mikasa is not anything revolutionary like some of her fans try to make her out to be she is literally Sakura 2.0 except with Naruto strength. And it hurts soooo much progression to put Mikasa as some sort example of how female characters should be. Mikasa character suffered so much she was bland and hand an unhealthy Eren obsession till the very end. I struggle to even call it love cause the way she acted didn't feel like real love it felt like infatuation. And I agree with you Eren literally never showed romantic interest in Mikasa in the manga. If Isayama wanted to make them lovers I would be fine with that but got damn do it in a way that makes sense! How hard could it have been to have Eren show a bit of romantic interest in Mikasa give us something damn!! Back when I was anime only I actually did ship the 2 but reading the manga later there isn't anything romantic between them in it so of course I let the thought go since the author wasn't even trying to link them romantically it was always so one sided to the point was straight up abusive to the girl ranting about how he felt smothered by her presence. How he gonna have him tell Armin he loved her in the end this ole bullshit! Bitch if you loved her why didn't you show some sign!
Does Isayama not realize how difficult it is for a man to hide when he likes let a lone is in love with a woman especially a teenage boy! If Eren really felt like that about Mikasa we should've seen multiple instances of it. And for ppl who bring up 123 the fact that, that is the only instance anybody can speculate on just further proves how terrible Isayama is with romantic implications. For one the whole thing was ambiguous as fuck. Eren ask Mikasa how she feels about him but doesn't say shit about how he feels not to mention his dead pan expression during the conversation while she was blushing. I would've been fine with Eren having an emotional outburst at the end when he was literally about to die if it was over something that actually made sense instead of these random feelings for Mikasa that came out of left field. Like him grieving over having to kill so many innocent people and leave his friends behind. Eren had to die in the end but Isayama did not need to assassinate this guy the way he did. Pre 139 Eren is still one if my favorite characters ever and that's how I'll choose to remember him. I'll be passing on the anime until I hear if it gets an original ending or not.

God, thank you for commenting on how corny Levi's ending was. I've seen a lot of criticisim of this chapter and agreed with the vast majority, if not all of it, but I hadn't seen anyone talk about that yet. I saw a lot of people say that Levi's character was the only one that didn't get destroyed, and sure, nothing that would make his character bad in retrospect happened (which is more than we can say for characters like Eren, Reiner, Annie, etc. whose entire personality and motives throught the story got shat on by this ending), but still... was this a good ending for him? Levi lost everything that mattered to him and accomplished what a lot of us thought would be his end goal, killing Zeke, and then he just gets to live? In a world were all his friends are long dead? And a lot of his fans were HAPPY ABOUT IT?
I'm honestly convinced that Levi was supposed to die, maybe even without fulfilling his promise to Erwin (because Zeke reviving only so Levi could kill him felt kind of forced), but Isayama changed it to make his fans happy. Guess you can't give your star character a "sad ending", even if that ending would be way better than getting to live in a half-destroyed world surrounded by a bunch of morons. Is getting a "good closure" really worth it if you're left with absolutely nothing afterwards?

Levi ended up becoming physically handicapped and wheelchair bound for the rest of his days while everyone he has ever cared about is dead and gone. I used to want Levi to live until the very end of the series but ever since he lost Hanji I changed my mind. He would be better off being with all of them instead of living in a world that has nothing for him. Levi literally had NOTHING left.

He has other plans he didn't want to do this hes still trying to protect them from what he has become , it's pretty amazing how this entire series started with a worm thats named halluciega it's an actual worm that exists it looks just like erens founding titan even its movement not only is isayama an amazing writer hes also a marine biologist if i do say so myself
