I have a question. I’m still a bit new, and I want to get a sentinel ship. I use the method of attacking the space station, but the sentinels that come in just absolutely destroy me. It doesn’t let me pulse away either, even if I try as soon as I shoot the station. I can’t even get the dreadnaught to spawn because there’s like 10 ships that all crossfire me and melt me. So is it just because my ship isn’t good enough or something? I even tried using the beams to recharge my shields during the fight, but it still didnt matter
3 quick things before you try to destroy a freighter 1. You can shoot a station to get to the freighter wave just shoot the station 1-2 times (just don't shoot the station more or else it will trigger the unlimited interceptor waves I recommend going away from the station so you don't accidentally shoot it) 2. The very back of the freighter is a blind spot for the turrets just don't go too far away from it 3. The phase beam is very useful for healing shields as the interceptors recharge their shields very fast
So, while watching Jason on stream yesterday he traded a sentinel ship with someone else. It got me thinking, can you trade a sentinel ship to a NPC and then recruit that NPC with the sentinel ship to your fighter squadron. Could you do this and have a full squad of sentinel fighters?

I started playing No Man's Sky about 2 weeks ago, and I have already destroyed a half dozen Sentinel Dreadnoughts. I prefer this method of farming for crashed Sentinel Interceptors instead of attacking all ground based unit waves. Although, I just learned last night that I do not have to take on the waves, but I take out the dissonance resonator and leave with the echo locator.
Also from what I read is you should be overcharging your base weapon over you upgrades. Overcharging the base weapon slot is a multiplicative bonus where overcharging an upgrade is only an additive bonus.
Just tested this to be safe and you actually get more use if you put an upgrade module instead of base weapon. Used my pulse engine and an upgraded module to swap them around and I had more maneuverability from the module being overcharged! Just giving a shout out! Cheers buddy!

@@peeko_luxx2873 yeah I just double checked with my Utopia speeder and infraknife. Boosting the core weapon it's 860 per shot and then boosting an S upgrade drops it down to 670 per shot no change in fire rate, only with one OCslot in the neighbor bonus chain.

Jason, it’s because you were close to the space station. Whenever you get close to the Atlas space station or anomaly you’re flying sluggish is down like it’s in an atmosphere.
I've found (and I have tried on Xbox and PS5) that you can shoot the station and you will go through 4 or 5 waves (1st 3 are easy with just 1 ship the first two times a 2 the second) before the capitol ship appears.I prefer the space battles over ground combat, personally. I'm loving this update.
I have a similar ship, except I got 3 adjacent supercharged slots. With all 3 filled with S-Class Pulse Engine upgrades, it can go over 2K Maneuverability! Handles pretty well ngl. Also the Infra Knife is by far better than the sentinel gun.

Hi, Jason! I tried the space station. And it worked! So the solution is that don't shoot the space station multiple times because this will happen (8:45), instead of this just shoot it once (maybe it will be harder with a sentinel cannon) if you did it correctly you got one wanted level. It worked for me and this way it's much easier. (I did it with the Utopia ship)
i actually just did it today starting with attacking the space station, eventually after like 20 minutes fighting like 10 or 11 ships at a time i flew far enough away that they stopped spawning endlessly and was able to finally defeat a wave and go up to 5 stars and get the freighter. so if you do it, just fly far enough away from the space station that it doesnt continuously spawn
Firsth one I saw I was flying my old sclass from a save from over a year ago. That had no photon or shield upgrades. I killed it with no problems. Until I use the locator item. That's when the crashing began. Took over 10x to finally be able to use it. It was so frustrating
Dude you can attack the space station to get the freighter, that's exactly how i do it. You just have to make sure you move far enough away from the station after shooting it before you engage the fighters. Its the best way to do it because it gives you an instant level 4 wanted level meaning yo don't have to fight through loads of waves. I normally have to fight either 1 or 2 waves for the freighter to then spawn in.
about the space station you can shoot it till you get 4 stars then keep boosting for a bit, once youre out of range finish of the 10 interceptors and you can directly summon the capital ship, the reason it keeps sending out ships is you hit the space station accidentally when figthing
The yellow/black tiny you showed earlier video... I got your ship stats beat with 1800 Hyper and over 1600 Pulse with 460 on damage and almost 400 on shields.
I get the distinct impression the combat is bugged ( not that it was very good before ) after this update ...the AI maneuverability is waaaay over the top . I had fights with the golden vector where I was having trouble with a hauler .It's all over the place . HG would be wise to tone that down . Also : the frequency of "random " combat events is a bit over the top as well .I had a planet ( in a CALM system ) where I was attacked every time I landed
Hey man, Great guide, I found another way to get the sentinel freighter and to do it I attacked the station and then I ran away enough where the sentinels won’t keep producing and then I go through the waves and then the freighter shows up
You can actually get the dreadnaight from the space station. you just got to get far wnough away from the space station (be careful ro not let any stray bullets hit it) and defeat tge sentinels that are currently attacking you and you should get the dreadnaught right afteryou killed the last one
Two things: 1. It's really easy to trigger Sentinels in space by attacking any freighter in the non-pirate system. Just break one container and have fun. Then repeat. 2. There's a reason for sentinel canons not to overheat. They deal decent damage, but they seem at least half as strong as Infra-Knife Accelerator... or your mods are lacking. Haven't experimented much with sentinel weapons yet.
tbh I killed all the 11 station ships, have infra-knife and some upgrades. and the shield recharging laser attack, and two upgrades to my shield, they were not even close. A class ship. I saw you are not using the lockdown mechanic, that's the reason you have hard time hitting those ships.

I have S-Class Sentinel Ship with the Infra-Knife installed on a supercharged slot - 3 S Class Upgrades (2 on supercharged slots) and the tech upgrade to make it 3 cannons (more dps than sacrificing a supercharged S Upgrade to make it 4 cannons). I get 75,000 DPS out of that set up. It's actually silly...
I had one appear on me while trying to kill some corrupt sentinels and wow it was weird. It appeared nose down and it was barely out of the atmosphere if you came in too low it would be invisible so I kept having to do dive motions at it
It would be cool if players could have massive fleet battles possibly with even multiple fleets and when ships get destroyed their remains get left behind. Just imagine entering a system and there are remains of a massive space battle that had happened. It would even be cool if some ships could crash onto planets if we could have orbital space battles. It would also be cool if we could have multiple freighters or capital ships or whatever in one fleet.
I.D.K, Ran away from the sentinel capital ship. Regret it. Still new to this. Got rid of the sentinel starships but no damage numbers on capital ship. Died after on planet going for a drop pod upgrade and now have to find death marker to get inventory back. Gotta stock up on sodium and sodium based products. Still on the default starship but seems the damage output is similar to an S class? Also Still have the default multitool. Guess I'm just taking it slow after 3 weeks of playing this game for the first time. If it wasn't for your content, would have never figured out how to make carbon nanotube or locating ship because didn't have the info visor made.
Hilariously, this is my fav way to kill time in No Man's Sky but it took me forever to realize that I could get a sentinel interceptor from it. There I was, flying my little newbie starter ship, defying death and selling the loot (including the sentinel locater beacon) so I could buy a good ship. A friend pointed out that with my kill record I should already HAVE a ship. For free. Never have I felt so foolish for not reading an item description. Edit: Bring a Phasebeam to the fights. The anomaly upgrade for it leaches 50% of damage done to enemy shields back into your own. 88% if you slot it into a supercharger. Never worry about running out of supplies to keep your shields up ever again!
You can activate the freighter by shooting the space station sentinels, it just takes like 20 minutes. I know because i did that the first 2 times i tried it and the freighter appeared both times
I'm quite new to all the new updates in NMS. I think I stopped playing around 2019. But are you flying in a sentinel ship urself? Heard they can be found and hijacked/repaired
Neutron cannon actually good now with these new shipsi still prefer the solar sail ships for the speed tho and it can also fire pretty fast not as fast as interceptor but still quite fast
I find killing these easier than the action on the ground.This Dissonant malarkey really blows my kilt way up in the air. And the crazy ships on NMScoordexchange...Some straight out of Transformer movies, some looking Like Tonka Toys, but all inspired by that crazy fucker in the back of our head. Loving it totes.
I just want medium sized ships. We have tiny fighters that we can fly and massive freighters than we can move around, why not make a class of ship that is a bit of both. No hangar like the freighter, but has basic amenities inside and you can walk around, plus mabye even a turret or 2 that are activated by you targeting an enemy
I noticed the sentinel ships were stiff in the left/right d-stick directions. It also seems the acceleration and braking is finicky. Idk if it’s a bug or what.
unfortunately the first time I fought a sentinel capital ship it was ruined because the whole freighter turned invisible and invincible but could still shoot me
If you jump in your ship, sit on the planet a bit... it will go from first wave to fourth wave in no time at all. Then you can leap into space for the most fun 🙂
you can hover and fly backwards in space in the sentinel ships. whenever i get to the end of the ship on my fly-by gunning i dont fly away to turn around like you have to with the regular ships, I hold the back button and do a u-turn all while shooting. lol. And i definitely didnt download "wemod" to turn off the weapon overheating and turn my rockets intoa machine gun that shoots WAAYYY faster than the sentinel canon. also didnt turn on 1-hit-kills.. also definitely didnt turn on infinite units, quicksilver, and nanites so i can buy anything.. nor did i turn on "easy craft" where you dont have to search for any matyerial. you can enter it even if you dont have any in the inventory meaning all you gotta do is pop a AI thing and go directly to a sentinel ship and immediately grab it then pop another one and go get another ship. i would never condone cheating in any way. its bad and wrong. and i wouldnt even want to have unlimited immediate access to any sentinel ship so i can pick and choose the ones i want and then go upgrade it to the max for free.. (all jokes aside, dont be a douche and use cheat/mod apps for multiplayer games but single player games where youre not interfering with anyone elses game, do you..)
I love the look for some Interceptor ships. But they move like a hauler 😬 I actually prefer my starter ship that I have upgraded. Even with the manoeuvrability at thexsame betweenthem, the Radiant Pillar BC1 is much agile. Anyway, thanks for the upload Jason 😁🤟
How come yours didn't have a shield lol. Maybe it's a later update? I just fought one of these today and I had to fly under the shield all the time which means no free easy aim lol
I hope HG release an update to overhauls the gunplay in first person. For me this is the main element that remains lacking.This could then be STALKER in space+.
I tried to attack sentinels in the group then going to space but I just kept getting the first wave of interceptors. It won't progress to wanted level 2.
literally impossible for me the ships turn invisble when i fly close to them and i cant dmg them at all while i still take dmg from lasers appearing out of thin air
What's your settings for space combat? Or did they change it this update? Your reticle seems so smooth, when I play its the default so it feels really floaty
I play on VR, and only this past week did I discover that holding down on the buttons on the controller locks on and can steer your ship. Before this I was always manually chasing.
@Erik Johnson well I knew that, I'm meaning how his cursor is locked in the center and doesn't float around. I found the setting it just makes it to where your ship doesn't pull to your cursor and instead you turn the whole ship with it.

I feel so far behind. Another video claimed this update was for PS only and I'm on PC so I have a late start. I started to watch tutorial videos, but then decided to make my own mistakes. But so far I've found nothing at all different. I guess I have to start with looking for Dissonant(?) planets and see where that leads. Another problem -- in my main save I only want to collect Rasa Fighters. I guess I could start a new save to try out the new sentinel ships -- assuming they are on PC. Would it be worth a new playthrough?
I always do a new playthrough with new updates, that way I'm not OP when trying this new stuff. Plus it doesnt take much to get millions of units all I do is get a crap load of cobalt (like 2 or 3 stacks) sell it somewhere that NEEDS it and then buy ships and scrap them for some nanites. It will take hours but it's the easiest way
Now we just need the option to destroy regular freighters too. Maybe we can even have freighter on freighter battles. Also I want my own sentinel freighter. If we can take their interceptors, why can't we take their freighters too?
you actually can attack the station but you have to then fly far enough away from the station so they dont keep spawning more ships i literally just did it and was getting confused why ther number i had to kill kept resetting, then i flew away from the station nd the number stopped resetting
I just shoot the space station……so long as you only shoot it once then you will trigger a normal wave 1, but if you shoot it multiple times then it jumps to stage 4 and you just get wave after wave….so I shoot the station once and then fly away to continue the battle
How do I get that ship ur using? I tried doing it with my C class Truck looking ship but its just not doing damage to the Hull but shreds every enemy ship

Install an Infra Knife instead with S Class or X Class upgrades. You can then ignore the turrets on the Freighter and melt it in approx 30 seconds.

Sentinel cannon is kinda boring tbh, they couldn't have at least changed the color to differentiate from the normal photon cannons?

needed more animations of the ship being destroyed like smoke and parts coming out of the freighter. but the part of it. the update is fantastic.

The rocket pod only has that one upgrade and it is a B-class you get from the anomaly starship upgrade station

I use the beam to restore shields and the one I took down had the “storage” areas that gave me resources for taking those out also.
if you want snap turns. hit reverse thrust.. i accedentally found out the other day that even my slowest ship just snaps to when i do that

Died after on planet going for a drop pod upgrade and now have to find death marker to get inventory back. Gotta stock up on sodium and sodium based products. Still on the default starship but seems the damage output is similar to an S class? Also Still have the default multitool. Guess I'm just taking it slow after 3 weeks of playing this game for the first time. If it wasn't for your content, would have never figured out how to make carbon nanotube or locating ship because didn't have the info visor made.
It also works when you have contraband in your inventory
Hilariously, this is my fav way to kill time in No Man's Sky but it took me forever to realize that I could get a sentinel interceptor from it. There I was, flying my little newbie starter ship, defying death and selling the loot (including the sentinel locater beacon) so I could buy a good ship. A friend pointed out that with my kill record I should already HAVE a ship. For free. Never have I felt so foolish for not reading an item description.
Edit: Bring a Phasebeam to the fights. The anomaly upgrade for it leaches 50% of damage done to enemy shields back into your own. 88% if you slot it into a supercharger. Never worry about running out of supplies to keep your shields up ever again!
Sit on the engine and do big numbers. Get the chain gun cannon for better dps

You can call your freighter in just before the sentinel freighter arrives and they will fight but your frigste won't do much damage to it
You can activate the freighter by shooting the space station sentinels, it just takes like 20 minutes. I know because i did that the first 2 times i tried it and the freighter appeared both times
The Sentinel canon is much faster the a normal one but I dont think its any stronger then an infraknife.
Upside, it doesn't have the Infraknife's downsides either.
How the freighter blows up just reminds me of galaxy on fire so cool so glad this is in the game now space combat is fun now lol
I only needed Spewing Vents and Grafted Eyes to kill the Sentinel Dreadnaught this last time.

Wasted potential to just blow the capital ship into nothing. It should become a derelict ship so players can go in to explore it after.
I'm quite new to all the new updates in NMS. I think I stopped playing around 2019. But are you flying in a sentinel ship urself? Heard they can be found and hijacked/repaired
Neutron cannon actually good now with these new shipsi still prefer the solar sail ships for the speed tho and it can also fire pretty fast not as fast as interceptor but still quite fast
my infra knife destroys sentinels in litterally 1/2 of a second
I find killing these easier than the action on the ground.This Dissonant malarkey really blows my kilt way up in the air. And the crazy ships on NMScoordexchange...Some straight out of Transformer movies, some looking Like Tonka Toys, but all inspired by that crazy fucker in the back of our head. Loving it totes.

I was hopping the squadron of fighter you can hire would be more helpful. But all they do is blocking my shots lol
I just want medium sized ships. We have tiny fighters that we can fly and massive freighters than we can move around, why not make a class of ship that is a bit of both. No hangar like the freighter, but has basic amenities inside and you can walk around, plus mabye even a turret or 2 that are activated by you targeting an enemy
I hope this opens up doors to go after other frigates and we can blow them up to.
I noticed the sentinel ships were stiff in the left/right d-stick directions. It also seems the acceleration and braking is finicky. Idk if it’s a bug or what.
I keep warping into that while it's attacking freighters it destroyes them then. Dicks off while the other little ships buzz round untill I'm dead
Completed for now new Sentinel Multitool and managed to get almost 19k damage so amazing to use now ❤
unfortunately the first time I fought a sentinel capital ship it was ruined because the whole freighter turned invisible and invincible but could still shoot me
If you jump in your ship, sit on the planet a bit... it will go from first wave to fourth wave in no time at all. Then you can leap into space for the most fun 🙂

Update your sentinel ship at space station… depending on nanites you have all the way to gold S level
you can hover and fly backwards in space in the sentinel ships. whenever i get to the end of the ship on my fly-by gunning i dont fly away to turn around like you have to with the regular ships, I hold the back button and do a u-turn all while shooting. lol. And i definitely didnt download "wemod" to turn off the weapon overheating and turn my rockets intoa machine gun that shoots WAAYYY faster than the sentinel canon. also didnt turn on 1-hit-kills.. also definitely didnt turn on infinite units, quicksilver, and nanites so i can buy anything.. nor did i turn on "easy craft" where you dont have to search for any matyerial. you can enter it even if you dont have any in the inventory meaning all you gotta do is pop a AI thing and go directly to a sentinel ship and immediately grab it then pop another one and go get another ship. i would never condone cheating in any way. its bad and wrong. and i wouldnt even want to have unlimited immediate access to any sentinel ship so i can pick and choose the ones i want and then go upgrade it to the max for free..
(all jokes aside, dont be a douche and use cheat/mod apps for multiplayer games but single player games where youre not interfering with anyone elses game, do you..)

I love the look for some Interceptor ships. But they move like a hauler 😬
I actually prefer my starter ship that I have upgraded. Even with the manoeuvrability at thexsame betweenthem, the Radiant Pillar BC1 is much agile.

How come yours didn't have a shield lol. Maybe it's a later update? I just fought one of these today and I had to fly under the shield all the time which means no free easy aim lol
I hope HG release an update to overhauls the gunplay in first person. For me this is the main element that remains lacking.This could then be STALKER in space+.
I tried to attack sentinels in the group then going to space but I just kept getting the first wave of interceptors. It won't progress to wanted level 2.
literally impossible for me the ships turn invisble when i fly close to them and i cant dmg them at all while i still take dmg from lasers appearing out of thin air
I love the ships, but they need to sort out the manoeuvrability its worse than haulers

Yeah, I noticed that when it gives you the prompt the interceptors are on the way. As well as close up passes on them.

What's your settings for space combat? Or did they change it this update? Your reticle seems so smooth, when I play its the default so it feels really floaty
I play on VR, and only this past week did I discover that holding down on the buttons on the controller locks on and can steer your ship. Before this I was always manually chasing.
@Erik Johnson well I knew that, I'm meaning how his cursor is locked in the center and doesn't float around. I found the setting it just makes it to where your ship doesn't pull to your cursor and instead you turn the whole ship with it.

I feel so far behind. Another video claimed this update was for PS only and I'm on PC so I have a late start. I started to watch tutorial videos, but then decided to make my own mistakes. But so far I've found nothing at all different. I guess I have to start with looking for Dissonant(?) planets and see where that leads. Another problem -- in my main save I only want to collect Rasa Fighters. I guess I could start a new save to try out the new sentinel ships -- assuming they are on PC. Would it be worth a new playthrough?
I always do a new playthrough with new updates, that way I'm not OP when trying this new stuff. Plus it doesnt take much to get millions of units all I do is get a crap load of cobalt (like 2 or 3 stacks) sell it somewhere that NEEDS it and then buy ships and scrap them for some nanites. It will take hours but it's the easiest way

you actually can attack the station but you have to then fly far enough away from the station so they dont keep spawning more ships
i literally just did it and was getting confused why ther number i had to kill kept resetting, then i flew away from the station nd the number stopped resetting

If you fight inside tge planet i wraps in orbit and you can glitch inside it killing it from inside out
Every time i engage sentinel interceptors my game crashes before i get to the freighter.
I just shoot the space station……so long as you only shoot it once then you will trigger a normal wave 1, but if you shoot it multiple times then it jumps to stage 4 and you just get wave after wave….so I shoot the station once and then fly away to continue the battle
