    Congratulations Darien on your upcoming position!
    Good equipment talk.
    Once you complete the academy, talk to your supervisors about what gear options are authorized, you may be able to customize or buy gear that you prefer.
    As a department trainer, I think that you will be a good trainer. But of course that is in the future.
    Likewise, K9, SWAT, detectives, etc. are all possibilities as well!
    In the meantime, listen and learn from the veteran officers, and watch your 6 buddy!

      Thanks a bunch. I’m doing my first ride along in a few weeks. I’m entering this with life experience only. I hope footwear isn’t an issue as long as it’s black

      I figured based on what I’ve seen out in town. I’m excited

      I remember the excitement that I had when I graduated POST in 1984.
      And getting assigned my first 2 horse powered unit...
      We had to first feed them, check the wooden wheels, make sure that the bow and arrows were accounted for, etc! 😊

    Hey Darien! Just passed my PST for an AIRR contract. Only thing holding me back was my depth perception from MEPS. Is that going to be big a issue? Or just simply waiverable?

    • @PhDarien
      @PhDarien  Год назад +1

      Congrats! You’re able to get it waiverable.

    Just passed my MEPS medical and going back next week to choose my job and swear in. Really want to do AIRR rescue swimmer but I’m worried my eyes will hold me back. Any way I could still get in with 20/175 vision but correctable to 20/20?

    • @PhDarien
      @PhDarien  Год назад +1

      Congrats. You should be able to get it still as long as your vision is correctable to 20/20

      @@PhDarien that’s great! Would I need a waiver for that? I read if it’s worse than 20/100 before correction it would be a problem.

      Lots of things are waiverable. Not too sure on that one though.

    Could you wear the purchased gear on a NATOPS check?

    • @PhDarien

      You can now for certain commands. It’s ultimately up the CO. My last one was chill and we wore Multicam and bump helmets on 80% of flights. It’s a necessary shift for the community.
