This was great info thanks! The mechanics kept telling me conflicting info about my steering issues blaming the pitman arm--and I think this may have helped. Cant stop the Tank. Thanks!
I can easily adjust mine with grill removed. I have a Track/Kick power steering box 📦 with a PSC/Trail Gear pump .... works great even with Lockers 33" Boggers. Thx Tony for taking out the SLACK ▶️
Thanks Tony, I had to replace the return hose on the ol' power steering and thought I'd give this a go. Super easy, only my 92's set nut is a 17mm (probably means a previous owner or mechanic lost the original and used what the had laying around) and I think I just made the last adjustment on the unit because the adjustment screw only has a few threads left even before I made my 1 full turn to tighten up the steering.
Thank You Tony! I would not change the setting/adjustment if not necessary, but I would take out the old oil and replace it with fresh SAE 90 GL-4. Our Suzukis are 30+ years old and the oil usually is as old as the car. Greetings from Germany!
Does a loose steering box add to death wobble? I need to make this adjustment anyway but I’m dealing with some wobble. I did a knuckle rebuild kit and it’s still shaking a little bit. Stock front end
@@Hwy83SUZUKI Dam, you're on it today....thank you for the rapid response....it's really hot today and I was kinda hoping that you would not reply until tommorrow...."thanks alot Tony"...lol You Rock!
Hey Tony I just bought a 87 samurai has a Harley-Davidson carburetor from zooks I made some repairs to the valve guide seals what would be the best affordable lift kit to get some 30-in tires underneath it I don't seem to be finding anything
This is a great video! I know that you stressed not over tightening… but I kept pressing my luck doing a half turn trying to get all the slop out. Then that test drive it felt really tight, almost difficult to turn. Tried to turn back a half and now my adjustment screw is stuck in place. Any way to loosen her up and go back a half turn now. It’s a samurai with an unknown power steering conversion, Geotracker I think.
You can take the top of the steering box off with the four bolts. The bottom of the adjustment bolt has a cylinder on the bottom that sits in a grooved part of the steering shaft. If it's stuck, it's probably pressing too hard inside the shaft. These commonly had a Vitara/Tracker powersteering conversion as those and the Jimny have the same steering boxes.
So, I'm getting crazy because this: I have an '92 Sidekick Soft-top and I was trying to know if this car came with an engine-bay floor. I cannot find anything on the internet, so I guess it didn't come up with one, but the thing is, when it rains a lot, I had had problems getting some water inside of the engine-bay. I just wanted to know if such part exists or not. Thanks.
The box isnt taking much heat or steess. You could probably get away with just using some of the 75W-90 youve got laying around for your tranny and diff

Thanks for this info!!!

Like your videos. A lot of DIY would love to see a step by step video of how to do full clutch adjustment and pedal free play.
I can help with that if you need it! I just did mine last weekend, changed my clutch and flywheel
You are amazing. It worked perfectly no more playing

Where's Tom cat? 🐈 Good video 👍
Hey Tony, Question. Can I use a steering gear box from a 92 tracker on an 89 Sidekick. They look the same-ish, but have different part numbers.
Yes they are compatible

Nice! Can you adjust it if the steering wheel turns more to one side tha th other?
That would be disconnecting the drag link from the pitman arm, centering the arm and re attaching the drag link

Do you have to have the tires off the ground to do this??
@@billybee4664 no
@@Hwy83SUZUKI So the gear box doesn't have to come out of the vehicle to do this or does it?
@@billybee4664 re watch the video
My gearbox doesn’t have a refill port, only adjustment
It’s a 93 sidekick
Is it 75w-140?

I think the steering gear box should be filld with SAE 90 GL-4.
