  • This video shows the making and testing of a1,5m wooden steam boat built from scratch.
She weighs about 15Kg. She is fitted with a Stuart Tuner double D10 twin steam engine.
The boiler, gas tank, condenser , fittings, steam pipe... are from Regner Dampftechnik.
The pictures and videos are taken just by an ordinary mobile phone, so excuse the Quality and the shaking of the videos.
One hand for the radio control, one for the camera.
It took me over a year to build the boat. The last videos are from the 30th of Dec. 2018.
    Hope you enjoyed!

I love how that actually has been build like a real boat. Though I guess the maschine can drive a bigger propeller than is currently does.

An excellent video and high standard of work. I was looking into this layout at the UK Model Engineering Show last week. I like the way you have built the whole plant on a platform that you can lift out and run / develop / tune on the bench away from the boat. You have also built the boat around the plant so no plant compromises have to be made. A gearbox and condenser too! My concern with steam and other boats is that they suffer from 'Scale Effect' when on the water and unless heavily ballasted tend to bob around due to the relative scale of the waves on the water. This is less of an issue with model aircraft. Do you have a view on this? Thanks for posting, and best wishes from England!

Outstanding boat! Live steam!! Unfortunately music is for when there are no other model sounds in the scene, or there's too much wind and no sock, or the entire sound track failed. To know there's perfectly good audio 99% covered over by steel drum, is just sad.

    Bonjour,
Very nice boat, but a little much to huge for my flat :+) Interesting and various video, the helicopter likes risks !
Besides this, how do you grease generously the cylinders after a navigation to protect them from rust ? On mine, I have installed plugs on their heads.
    Amicalement, Raphaël

If you use steam oil which is soluble there will be a film of oil left in the cylinders

I think that most people do not like this music on a video. It's not even in the background. It's blasting out in our faces. Nice boat, but had to dislike the video. You can do better next time.
