Congrats on not giving up on something that other people can't appreciate the work and garage engineering that went into your repair. Great motorcycles, same person also engineered seat mounting. Good job
I keep a clean magnet to pull metal out of my eye, usually just getting it close pulls it out, I learned that when I was youngerI wear glasses now as well as a respirator.
Fabrication videos are probably my favourite kind that you do! Seeing you recognise and then fix your mistake is a beautiful thing! Shows you're human and that you can work out a decent solution! Nicely done, dude! 🍻🤘💜
Excellent fabrication skills there! If a few mistakes were made, then it looks like you addressed them quite nicely. Yes, wear your safety goggles or glasses, keeps your eyes intact. I use goggles as they add extra protection around my eyes when grinding or cutting anything. Thanks for a great video!
Afternoon Buddy. That was awesome 👏🏻 but of fabrication 😊 Love how you made a mistake showed us and then fixed it 👍🏻 Top guy just for that alone on this video 🤩🏴
Just discovered your channel, and boy was I missing out ! Fantastic work , like on everything that you work on. Cant wait for next video no matter what it will be...
Interesting! Its always a struggle to predict what people want because I put polls up and people prefer shorter videos. My longer ones don't get any views but being that I like to put a lot of info in them its very difficult to make them short.
CBX! CBX! CBX!! Sort half-joking, but I wait with bated breath on a CBX update. I love that engine/bike and I want one BAD, so I'm very interested in what you do on that project. Thanks for all the great vids!
Nice. I had a buddy who loved old BMWs. I did a top overhaul on his 1979 airhead, restored his 1985 "brick". Torques on airhead are too high, pulls threads out of the cases. He got hit by a truck on his Triumph Thruxton, unfortunately did not survive.
Well done on another fabrication. Im not sure if everbody will agree on this but i think a shorter exhaust will add to the aesthetics of the bike. That back part (silincer) next to the wheel just looks 'off' for me...
@@BrickHouseBuilds That is such a good looking bike. I especially like the exhaust. I'm glad to see it worked out for you as well as it did . Hope you're enjoying the Memorial Day weekend !
Nice little fix there dude 👍🏻 Haha I had to have my eye drilled to get metal out, clamp ya head in a thing to hold you still , then drill, my eyes are watering just thinking about it 🙈 Can I ask you, how are you finding the mini lathe, any probs or limitations yet ? Wayne 👍🏻👍🏻
I get super weirded out thinking about my eyes. Just the worst when that happens. SO far I LOVE the lathe. I use it almost daily for various things. I do wish I could clamp larger diameter things with more stability but thats obviously going to be difficult on a mini lathe by nature. I'm still learning how to use it as far a cutting speed/depth and have a very hard time with trying to use my parting blade on steel. I think I simply need a better blade as my HSS blade works perfect on aluminum. Overall I am 100% happy with my purchase and only wish I was able to get it sooner.
@@BrickHouseBuilds thanks for your time buddy, huuum I keep thinking about one, just to do small bits like wheel spacers an stuff, even if it’s good enough to then get them done by a pro, haha I’m already needing to have some spacers turned for the wheel on the new build, and I’m gutted I gota wait 🙈 Again thanks for taking the time to reply, an I’ll look forward to your new vids Wayne 👍🏻
@@Dustmonkeycreations well I use it for all that small stuff I don't want to outsource. I have a GS550 build coming up that will require many spacers and adapters so this tool is a must
Great job making it more stable but it looked like when the bike was on the center stand the rear tire was on the ground, which kind of defeats the reason for the center stand. Maybe it's a trade off the bike owner was willing to make. If you want tires that size, you can't really use the center stand for maintenance.
The Reynolds Ride-Off is designed that way. I have a couple on my bikes (they came to me that way) and I greatly prefer the stock BMW stand which does lift a wheel off the ground.
Its a Reynolds stand yes. Many changed to these because the stock stands were very narrow and many bikes fell over. An original stand would still face the issue of worn pivots
Cool, a center stand repair had me thoroughly entertained for 31+ minutes. Thank you
Glad it held your attention!
We all make mistakes when repairing or fabricating, Thanks for sharing the repair and the fix!
Thanks Axel!

I've tried that but haven't had luck with it. Not looking to try it more but ya know what I mean lol

Great vid. FYI, There is a kit available for repair of the bushing problem on airheads,
Thank ya!

Thank you Stevie! I absolutely make mistakes and I feel it's important to show them as I'm just like everyone else

Well thank you much! I have plenty of videos to keep you busy and appreciate you watching!
Very cool... The final design /part looks great... Probably what the factory should have done from the beginning 👍👍
Thank ya much Jim!
That was a great job every time I see you do something on a bike I want to work on my bike also but no tools no skill 😂
You can absolutely do work on your bike. Start with small jobs and work your way up. That's how we all do it
Nice fabwork. Great fix , good not to hide it. Keep them coming!
Appreciate it Curt!
Longer videos the better I reckon, nice work as usual👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Great video. Well done on the center stand modification!
Much appreciated Andy!
great and I enjoyed watching this and didn't mind about the extra time .........more please
Glad you enjoyed it!
Like new again! Boy that lathe does a nice job. Good job!
It was a huge step forward in tool purchases for sure
Oh man, that has a very similar tank paintjob to my g/s. Neat
Interesting. My both airheads pre 1980 have bolts into frame. Different bushes too

I know I know. I'm only one guy and customer stuff has to come first. Been an insanely busy 6 months with all the changes I've been working on.
@@BrickHouseBuilds No worries, man. Just breakin' ballz...
@@mohawkdriver4155 its all good. There are A LOT of people asking about the bike
I would love to find one of these bikes for a project. They are seemingly rare as heck!
Id shoot for an r75 at a minimum. These are out there but yea not as common
Really great video. Keep them coming, BJ 👏👏👏
Many thanks John!
Nice job; very well done!
I appreciate it Keith!
Nice work ultimately!
Many thanks!

Agreed but thats just not the reason the bike was in the shop
Could you have countersunk the flat washer?
I dont think so
My old R65 had the same problem with the centre stand, only difference was I couldn’t fix it 😬
Thats unfortunate! This was a bit of a challenge to say the least
Wouldn't it be easier to get a new stand, or a used one in better condition ?
Not in this case. Its easy to weld it up. The pivot would have been bad with a new stand anyway and not fixed the issue.
@@BrickHouseBuilds That is such a good looking bike. I especially like the exhaust. I'm glad to see it worked out for you as well as it did . Hope you're enjoying the Memorial Day weekend !
If I remember right, the shocks on the old air head BMW's are rebuildable . You just replace the spring and bushings.
They may be indeed. For this application it would be cheaper to buy a basic aftermarket set
@@BrickHouseBuilds I helped a friend rebuild a set , but that was years ago. Thanks for your reply 👍

Happened to me while grinding steel. I used a strong magnet to get a piece of steel chip out my eyeball.
I've never been able to get one with a magnet but im not looking to try it in the near future 😅

No this stand is designed to be just like this. Called a Reynolds ride off.

Try keeping a clean magnet in the shop.
No such thing as a clean one lol. I keep some in a sealed container but would have to use both hands to access that. Not good in the moment
👍👍👍

Now you know BMW
Only a small bit. I did enjoy riding this one to feel how they are
That is an after market stand, the original stand would have worked fine.
