  • I found the Reelight CIO lights on Indegogo a Kickstarter type website. I've had the Reelight CIO Battery Free Bike Light for just over a month, here are my thoughts on the lights so far. Keep in mind I'm UK based where they drive on the left side, the Reelight CIO lights are designed for right-hand drive. They are bike wheel lights and use a magnet on the wheel with the light to create electricity to run the bike light.

    There are so many light options out there, when I saw these ones on Kickstarter/Indigogo I had t give them a try, not having to worry about batteries sounded ideal. If anyone has lights they recommend please share with us in the comments below.

    this is a good idea, a light that work on magnets, is easy to mount, and no need for dynamo. smart.

    I think spoke lights is what we need, not as much to be seen from the front or back since they would light the objects near you and allow you to be seen from all angles particularly your reflectors are the best source of visibility from what I am aware

    nice video, well showcased, and explained. but you you sound have mentioned the diameter this will fit on, my fork has around 45mm diameter on the legs, and some road bikes have really long/wide fork legs.

    Hello, my wheels have been stolen a lot of time so I don't have magnet anymore. Buying new ones is expensive. Some mechanic guy told me it was possible to fix it with normal magnets. I bought some round (with plastic, for the fridge) ones but it didnt work. Anyone has an idea on how to fix that ? Thanks a lot :)

    Your review answered just about all the questions that others didn't, like the level of adjustability! Only thing left, how really bright are these lights for use during daytime?

    • @OneLessCar
      @OneLessCar  6 лет назад

      Thank you for the kind comment I'm glad you found the video useful. Fully sunny day in the middle of the day probably not great, but then you don't need lights. On a grey day they would be bright enough I'd say. As you go faster and ride for a bit they get a better charge and get brighter (the inserted shot at night shows this well).

      Hum.. I'm interested in daytime running lights to get the attention of the cars both behing and about to cross in front of you :-( in sunny Portugal ;-) And with the benefit of not having to worry about turning them on and rechargind or changing batteries. I know it's perhaps a lot to ask

      Jose Ruivo look for dinotte quad red light - very bright in daytime, front light covon s2 with colimator 20x60 about 1k lumens does the job.

      Way too expensive, sorry. Bontrager Flare and Cateye X3 (100 and 150 lumens versions) seem a much better deal.

  • @nemure
    @nemure 3 года назад +2

    I think they are too expensive too only sparkle. They don't light your way to see inside a tunnel or at night at all

    • @OneLessCar
      @OneLessCar  3 года назад +1

      There are two kinds of bike lights. Lights to be seen and lights to see by. These are the first type, they are for city riding.

    • @nemure

      @@OneLessCar exactly and this cost the same as lights to see despite of being lights to be seen by others. The magnets are handy and so but components and i+d aren't that big, aren't anything new tbh, this system has like a century if not more in the market. They are just very expensive

  • @maidbloke
    @maidbloke 6 лет назад

    Maybe it was poor contrast in the video but they don't look anywhere near bright enough for me, thanks for the review though 👍

    • @OneLessCar
      @OneLessCar  6 лет назад +2

      maidbloke they aren't hugely bright which is why they are secondary back up lights for me, the footage at night with the bike leaning on the wall gives the best idea of what it looks like at night. They're lights for city riding, to be seen, definitely not for lighting your way.
      They are also brighter than what they have on city bikes in London, and they get brighter as you ride fur and faster. They meet Danish requirements (visible at 300m). But at the end of the day it comes down to what you need and want to feel safe! 😀

  • @EoinNaughtonMcLove

    They don't look like you would use them as a main light, is that right?

    • @OneLessCar
      @OneLessCar  6 лет назад +1

      You could use it as your main light in the city, these are lights for being seen, not to see by, as they are flashing. I've just got their new lights which are a constant beam and mount in the centre of the bike. I'm looking forward to seeing how they work out as I live in Bristol now and will need lights to see by on some of the less well-lit cycling paths.

      @@OneLessCar that might be good enough to be honest. Thanks for the reply

    • @OneLessCar
      @OneLessCar  6 лет назад +1

      @@EoinNaughtonMcLove it depends on what your ride requirements are but the lights do meet Danish law for brightness (the company is based in Denmark).

      @@OneLessCar yeah that is all I think I'll need for the moment. Most of my route is lit.

    • @OneLessCar
      @OneLessCar  6 лет назад +1

      @@EoinNaughtonMcLove no problem. One thing I should have mentioned is they just released a new version called Nova which is brighter, it's a light to see by, and is center mounted. I've just got a set, and will have a video on them soon so stay tuned.

    I am not sure if this thing would work on such extreme head angle i have on my bike 61 deg. I am not sure if it has enough angle adjustment. my bike has head angle of a motorcross bike👌
    not that this light would be something that is usual to use on such a bike.😆

      She's in the UK, so it's on the traffic side.
      Reelight now make versions for left and right hand drive, but originally the only option for Brits (and Australians, Kiwis, Japanese, etc) was to mount them upside down.
      The rear light is on the wrong side for traffic - but she explains why that is.
