- Rather than being concerned with how an object actually looks, Lee KwangHo seeks to maximize the artist's inner image of the object, his 'tactile need for expression.' As a result, the works seem to be based on extreme realism, but present an abstraction through masses of colored surfaces of his own volition. Lee KwangHo revisits traditional painting techniques but reinterprets them in a contemporary way, exploring the 'reproduction of the painterly gaze' rather than 'painterly reproduction' and creating his own visual language.
